We're dammed if we do and dammed if we don't with playing out the back.

We don't have players with enough skill or inteligence to play out the back.

Alternatively, we don't have the speed or size to play more of a long ball game either. Whilst Rose puts himself about and wins a fair amount he's very alone in that.

It doesn't matter what the tactics are, when a player kicks the ball straight to an opposition player, or when the players switch off for a quickly taken free kick.  It's the same tactics we played last week, didn't see many complaining after that match.

Hopefully Forest Green and Sutton are just as sh!t as us going into the end of the season as it looks like Salford have bucked their ideas up.

Can you provide proof or evidence based on results that a new manager has ever instantly improved a situation when the club is in decline? How about evidence that a massive turnover in managers and players has every worked out despite the fact you keep calling for people to lose their jobs?

I wonder why Managers at his verious clubs keep playing the bloke(Rodgers) and never see why Hurst thought he would be an upgrade on what we had because as far as I've seen he's the worst CB we have had for Donkeys years and that's saying something.

Can you provide proof or evidence based on results that a new manager has ever instantly improved a situation when the club is in decline? How about evidence that a massive turnover in managers and players has every worked out despite the fact you keep calling for people to lose their jobs?

I think it’s safe to say it’s really not working.

I’d rather gamble on sacking a man who’s walked in and attempted to implement a style of play based on thinking he’s a lower league Pep and failed spectacularly.

But you keep supporting him when we have to win the last game of the season to avoid relegation again.

I wonder how many in their team are players we had approached but didn't sign because the board wouldn't put up the money or they found a better deal last minute. Meanwhile JS complaining about players putting their asking prices up knowing we made some cup money.

I had sympathy for artell after a few of our defeats as I could see he wants to do well but this is unforgivable.

Him and them spineless individuals wearing my clubs shirt deserve everything they get after this.

I'm embarrassed,  the commentary just said we are the worst team they've seen, and he fancies a goal against our centre halves. I'm just fuming at the way they have not even give it a go, absolute pansies

The whistle went  for HT and honestly I've never seen a bunch of players run off the pitch individually as quick as that , they don't want to be out there.

This team ain't got the minerals for a fight, they ain't got the passion and they certainly don't deserve to be wearing the town badge on their chest. Pathetic

As for the clown in the dugout well if you resigned tonight you would make me very happy.
Posted by: mariner91, February 10, 2024, 3:59pm; Reply: 146
Rodgers is a very bad defender. Terrible on the ball, regularly just spraying it out the pitch. But he’s also really bad defensively. I have never known a centre back be so bad at heading. He’s weak and misjudges most long balls. Maher isn’t as bad but still isn’t good.

But equally you can’t play through midfield with Clifton and Holohan in there. Neither good on the ball and if you watch closely Holohan is static, on his toes and barely ever showing for it or in a good position. Very easy game for their number 8 marking him.

We’re shite.

What happens if we replace him and still go down anyway? What if the manager who replaces him is somebody you hate for whatever reason? You'll still whine and complain like with Hurst, who you violently and aggressively protested when rumours swirled around he was in talks for the job and heavily criticised him at any opportunity.

I guess teaching football to these losers isn't working so well but maybe the penny will drop eventually. I'm not sure why you think anybody else will get a tune out of these players after the initial boost of a new man in charge wakes them up for a couple of games. I say let DA finish the job he started and hope that teams are still worse than us come the end of the season. You need to move past 1989 and learn that the good years are over, we have yet to really establish ourselves as a L2 club again and not one treading water.

Today is lunar New Year and it's dull as owt.  Couldn't find owt open so looked forward to this all day.  I didn't expect us to win but I wanted a good game. I would have liked us to show some backbone.  Instead we gift them three goals.  County look better all over the pitch.  They are not even breaking a sweat.  I doubt they would be if they were playing in a tropical summer. They just have more panache and more options when they have the ball.  It's tiring.  DA should start his experiment during the close season.  Now, he should be working on the basics.

Whilst I’m a fan of the board and what they’re doing, I would get rid of Artell now, it’s obviously not working, the players look utterly clueless. intercourse finding someone who aligns with their ‘values’ and get someone in who has a plan B, can get the most of the players we have and someone who’ll make sure the soft tw@TS don’t leave their b0llocks behind in the changing room

If we don't win on Tuesday Artell has to go, you can't keep trying to play like this with our junk defence who excrement themselves under any sort of press, and a midfield primarily comprised of players who can't control or pass a ball with any kind of consistency, it's suicidal. If either of the two teams below us figure out how to play football between now and the end of the season we're copulated.

He has spoken in previous interviews about some of the players' decision making. Maybe most of them are simply not smart enough to know when to try and play out and when not to.

But should professional players really need to be told this stuff? Like they need to be told to mark forwards in our box, to track back when they lose the ball, and many other basics of the game?

We stroll and wait for passes to reach players.

Other teams run and pass accurately at pace.

It just looks far too casual all round and concentration seems not to be anything they worry about.

Danny Rose must be the most frustrated headless chicken, having to chase  harass and wait for non existent support up front.

Makes for very hard fan viewing, wondering why we look so 2nd best on the ball against most teams.

Mistakes are costing us badly, back passes across the 6 yard line seem ridiculous if we get chased by teams knowing we have a weakness., so change it !!

Today, as good as Stockport played, we gifted them the win !

I never thought I’d say this but after 40 years I’m about done.

I didn’t expect to win today but it’s the way we went about losing this game.

In all my years we’ve never had this level of season ticket sales for the second season running, combined with a generational FA Cup run and this is the best we can offer.

What actually is the point in having multi millionaire owners, who, when given such a groundswell of support can only serve up this utter excrement - it’s  beyond unacceptable

If this is the best we can hope for Stockwood then clear off

Special word for the Stockport fans, top of the league and you bring 800, laughable

How about his own decision making? Or is that infallible. Don’t think so listening to his waffling bollo.cks

I think we need to be realistic.  Very few of us expected us to get anything at all from this game. Stockport are at the top for a reason, but we shouldn't be helping them with kamikaze tactics, goalkeeping and defending should we. We are very,  very lucky that the teams below us keep losing. So let's try to cling on to that. Tuesday is a must win now without doubt

Realistically, conceding 14 goals in 3 home games is completely unacceptable at any level and unforgivable

I know exactly how you feel. After a 'golden period' from 1980 to 2001 its so depressing to have to have endure season after season of dross. Yes, the two play off final victories were great, but we are talking about the non league after all.

I honestly don't think I will see us back in the Championship in my lifetime and I am at an age now where I tire of this constant disappointment.

Two decades now of turgid dross can't even manage to be competitive at the very bottom end of the league structure. Just can't get my head around how much money is wasted season after season.

A million for Bennett.
150k for Connell
A million pounds for Bogle.
Half a million for Dembele.
250k for Pollock
Grist
McAtee
FA cup 5th round
Double record season ticket sales
Conteh

We've had plenty football fortune to be able to sting something competent together at least one in two decades, but no season after season ofvutter dross. How like, how?

Dreadful really

16 goals conceded at home with 1 point from 4 games since NY is hardly going to impress anyone .

Still getting more and more worried , looks like a weak minded relegation fodder type side the more I see , we know we have seen plenty .

Same Ron , seems a long time ago those great years . Didn't appreciate how good it was at the time .

I just thought this time we might actually move forward for a more consistent period of time , but it seems like we are reverting to type again of league 2 strugglers at best.

I've given it until this morning to calm down..we were again completely out thought by a manager with less league experience than our own...
I felt for Danny Rose, he plays with so much passion but he's gets less service than a clapped out ford escort....
Artell got it wrong, again, and I'm also at the point where Shaun P & Ben Davis have to hold to account too, they have been  part n parcel off this shitshow this season, but after thinking Artell was a great appointment I'm of thinking he's a salesman who could sell a freezer to an Eskimo but not show him how to work it!

I'm the same Ron. First game 1979 and instantly hooked. I seem to be just seeing out this season. I've missed quite a few games by being abroad on holiday, working in preference to going on one occasion and doing some Brentford games instead where there is a home fixture clash.

I'm also at an age where I doubt I'll ever see the really good times with Town again. Constant disappointment is the right expression. I don't get excited by new signings and appointments because they invariably underwhelm.

I really do fear the worst. I listened to the manager's post-match comments with an open mind on the way home but found them worrisome.

I get it that Shaun and Ben are patr of the management team. But  they will be getting told by Artell what he wants them to do. That does not mean they agree with him . And like most employees they either do as they are asked or shown the door same as players do if they dont / cant do what is asked

No, what they should do is be part of the decision making, training and tactical requirements, Artell is the Head coach, not Musilini.
Even our co owner believes in constructive criticism and open dialogue, so to think Artell has been given carte blanch to run the show in a "its my way or the highway" manner goes against Stockwoods ethos.
