Hurst has left us with a terrible team all the cup money has been wasted.
But DA needs to raise his game because on that performance we are down.

Whilst I agree with you in the fact cup money from last season seems to spunked on players not quite up it….sitting in the stand watching the pre-season against Hull I genuinely thought Hurst had unearthed some gems. Stand-out players Rogers and Mullarky…certainly better/a step up than what we had.
Now I’m not so sure but for me I think Artell may be missing it. This may get red crossed to f**k but I’d personally play Clifton at right back (or at least for a few games). It gives Mullarky the break I think he needs. Take the pressure off Harry playing a role he looks lost in at the minute and may provide the energy to help out the centre half’s. We have CURRENTLY enough centre midfielders to cover….

I’m not a football manager but is it the worst suggestion??

Funny that those blaming Hurst for building our current squad also blamed Hurst for the squad Holloway built

From a defensive perspective I would be a lot happier playing Clifton right back and if we could clone him at left back too, failing that khouri has the same attributes to be deployed as left back. Both tenacious in the tackle and he has done a job there before.

It's not the worst suggestion we've certainly seen that Clifton can be a competent full back and has proven this multiple times.

It's certainly a consideration to swap him out for one of either Gellenon or Mullarkey  question is which one as I suspect he could do a better job than both.

Can we not start this please?

His time was over here, how he does somewhere else doesn't matter.

If you need reminding watch his post-match presser after Col U at home, bloke looked like he was going to cry. He knew it was finished here, so did everyone else.

“Started”?

FFS his name is in the thread title.

And my point was not that he was or wasn’t finished, more to do with YET AGAIN blaming him for the latest result.

Changing the entire system a team plays with players who can’t grasp it in the middle of a season whilst we’re hovering over the relegation positions is fúcking madness. Everybody around me is saying exactly the same thing.

Managers get slated for picking players out of position so this Clifton at RB thing is nonsense, we’ve conceded 13 goals in 3 games maybe we’d be best served putting Harry in goal if you apply the “Clifton is Mr Fix it” logic.

I would hazard a guess that everyone sitting around you are not professional football managers.  What do you expect him to do?  Play the same system Hurst used, and abandon a system that he is familiar with and has proved works.  He has only been here 7 weeks, it's going to take much longer than that for the players to adapt to a new playing style.

I wanted to add Khouri at left back but thought that make shake the tree a little to much…..Khouri looked a good prospect the last 10 games or so from last season but Artell doesn’t fancy him and would rather go with YT’s on the bench ahead of him….Salford/Walsall games

The time to do this is surely close season. Not in what is easily becoming a relegation battle.

Pretty obvious what my point was. If not, I can’t help you.

And what system were we playing before then? Cause it didn’t look like there was any system for the last two months of Hurst’s tenure.

Hurst was trying to get them to play out as well as hoof it to Rose.

I think you’ve inadvertently hit the nail on the head, DA is familiar with the system the players seem to be struggling with it.

Did at any point I say Clifton at right back would fix it? It was merely a suggestion on a fans forum of a different perspective using the current players we have contracted to give us a different perspective. Harry is more then capable fitness wise to get up and down, naturally right footed, doesn’t mind getting stuck in and can possibly take the pressure of him playing in his midfield role which he’s not tearing trees up this season.

The thread was about Hurst leaving us a below average squad….I’m giving an opinion to change personnel with what’s currently contracted players…I’m not asking for the magic wand to stick up every players bottom and make them premiership quality  ;)

We was bad under hurst but i dont see any improvements under artell , we have a backline that cant defend to save their lives i'm worried for our lge status

I'd hope debating Khouri and Clifton to full back will be redundant within the next few days as we'll have two new full backs in. What we need feels like a long list but centre mid, two full backs and another centre back feel absolutely essential to me.

If I thought that would instantly fix and solve all our issues of leaking goals I’m in the wrong job. I should be sat on Artell shoulder whispering in his ear. It was an opinion on a fans forum I wanted to share to see what thoughts we all had. The current line ups aren’t working, we can’t keep a clean sheet! A new signing is surely just as drastic a measure as trying something different with the players we have without spending what money is in the pot to find out 6 weeks down the line we didn’t need to do it….just a thought
