Bored senseless in some training at work. I have been watching Town regularly since 1987. Found myself scribbling this team-
                Coyne
Macca     Todd    Futcher    Croft

Childs       Groves  Pouton    Oster

               Mendoca   Birtles

Anyone match them against a post 1987 Town team?!?!

No - they'd probably beat any 11 since!

Got to have Dave Beasant in goal, best keeper we have ever had between the sticks

Am with you on that, we had some really good keepers during my time watching town, late seventies, but Beasant was the best of the lot.

I thought that you couldn't pick anyone in the first posters side because its a Vs side I.e you can't play for both teams.

My absolute hero when I was a kid with a season ticket was Jack Lester, so I’d have him in!

Wonder what would have happened had we signed him, for a long period of that season we played the best football i can recall as a town fan and were flying high in what is now the Championship finishing from memory about 9th

My memory is vague but didn't he play seven games for us, winning six drawing one only conceding about two goals or something daft like that

And then lost five on the bounce when he went back to Chelsea

I almost said Martin Pringle but a quick wiki check says he only played 2 games for us? Is this right? Vague memory but he looked a different class for us until that twit challinor broke his leg.

BIrtles and Futcher are certainties in any town team in any era
The other positions can be argued upon but not these 2 different class even put of there prime.
