I can’t believe anyone would red cross a story like that. Couldn’t it just be a case of when scrolling you inadvertently catch the red cross?

I just tried it on you. It's hard not to notice. I clicked on the tick to delete the red cross.

The people who have red crossed might just be arseholes trying for a reaction.
They could also be crossing as a show that the thread is about the most heartbreaking news and ticking it felt wrong.
The red crosses could just be because it’s Yoda or his statement steering away from what is a condolence thread.
They may have done it by accident as has been suggested.
The point is we don’t really know unless one of them cares to explain.
But all that being said just turn the ticks and crosses off and be done with it.
