Middlesbrough signed him from us for an undisclosed fee - and now is scoring goals for fun for Cove Rangers in Scottish League 1 - just scored his 16th of the season .
Worth trying to tempt him back? He’s obviously confident at the level he is playing at.

I've watched a Scottish League 1 game and that standard was terrible! Good National League players often go to the SPL which says a lot about the levels below that.

In that case, Matt Tees must have been terrible when he played for Airdrie
- but despite that - Town signed him!!!
Bobby Cummings came very raw from an unfashionable Scottish League Club - Alloa (may be wrong).
Seem to remember that Rumarn came through the Grimsby Academy and Middlesbrough were ‘rumoured’ to have paid £100,000 for him.
I think he deserves another look - particularly as he would settle in better than other ‘newbies’ might.

Scottish football was decent in the 60s - they beat England regularly.

And are you sure about that - Lady Chatterley was very creative…

But 60 / 45 years ago, it was the present. And those signings were great

In other news today, Ross County only had 4 fit players to sit on the bench.

They have just brought on their reserve keeper to play as a striker.

And yes.you guessed it he has only gone and scored.

Not a very high standard me thinks.  ;D

2019 isn’t that far back.
I could be advocating the return of Gardner and Braithwaite in 4 years time, if they get sold for undisclosed fees to Premier/ Championship clubs - and then thrown on the scrap heap

It was probably before anybody thought of deep-frying a Curly Wurly. Scottish football has really struggled since that invention!

Derek Adams who left League 2 Morecambe  to manage in the Scottish Premiership said last week that League 2 was a higher standard...…..I think that sums it up.

Not saying Burrell doesn't have talent btw but Scottish football has massively declined in the past 30 years.

The point is that through the Grimsby Academy and Burrells subsequent transfer to Middlesbrough - some people thought he had talent.
For whatever reason, he didn’t break through to the first team at Middlesbrough but this season he is doing a ‘Jamie Vardy’ if you like in Scotland.
This has caught my eye for the last few weeks.
Gardner and Braithwaite played a minute plus additional time each last night. Do they want to be sold to end up like  Burrell?
Wilkinson, Drinkell, Moore brothers were given time to grow in to an outstanding team.
But of course - they are now the dinosaur years - times have changed (apparently) .

Tony Ford - forgot to mention - how many football league appearances did he make?
Today he would forwarded up to Championship - probably never to be seen again

An amazing bit of business to have sold a player to Middlesbrough - and in reality he should have been given a free transfer to Cleethorpes Town.
No - after being shoved around - he’s showing he’s better than that and it’s good to see.

Montel Gibson scored 31 goals in 46 games at a similar level to what Cove Rangers play in Scotland, that certainly didn't translate to becoming a good league player. It's pretty rare that somebody comes from that sort of football and joins a league club then goes on to do something, Barnsley based their recruitment on bringing in lower league players for a while and never really found anybody worth a damn.

Big clubs with larger academy set ups pay fees for young players from smaller teams who'd rather have the money as they don't have the facilities to develop players all the time, most will never make it at that level. Sometimes they go for ridiculous money if they come from a big team, I'm sure I read a few teams were tabling a 50 million bid for some 16 year old from South America.

That's just not true. Only a couple of days ago I watched a film called Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Bonkervilles and Mrs Hudson did reverse cowgirl with Inspector Lestrade. Watson even asked for a cheeky finger up his Baker Street from the colonel's daughter.

And that was the 19th century.

Yes. Moriarty got a Baker Street irregular from Holmes. Made a frightful mess on the Aspidistra. He'll be cleaning it out of his pipe for weeks.

There was also the time that Holmes  was attempting to give Watson a good seeing to. But was struggling to gain entry.  He instructed Watson to go and squeeze a lemon. They then used the juice as lubricant with amazing results. Watson enquired as to how it worked ? To which Holmes famously replied.

Lemon entry my dear fellow, lemon entry.
