He'll be cupping his ears towards the pontoon while doing a victory lap along the whole stand.

Very young for a ref, early 30's I think.

Sutton, Forest Green and Colchester all losing.

Think we need half time. Good start but Newport have out muscled us, taken charge and we've been quite naive at times. Bogle would almost certainly have scored if he hadn't slipped. Started to get to grips with them again the last few minutes though.

Little Newport fouls, pushes and pulls that the ref keeps ignoring means they’ve been able to get a foothold in dangerous areas.

Think we're losing the battle in midfield really, but that being said it's still 0-0 and Newport haven't exactly torn us to shreds or anything. Hunt and Clifton both haven't really used the ball well when they've had possession. There's spaces there to attack Newport through but we just need to be more accurate and composed with our passing and decision making in the middle of the pitch.
Posted by: chipsandgravy, December 16, 2023, 3:51pm; Reply: 36
Good game actually. As the half wore on Hunt seems to be struggling with the physicality of the game. Maybe a game for a bit of Green in the second half.
Posted by: Mappers, December 16, 2023, 3:53pm; Reply: 37
They are stopping us playing through them and seem quite physical  - can we go out second half and implement our style , get Hunt /Arthur/ Eisa etc some space to play ?

If we do i think we win .
Posted by: jimgtfc, December 16, 2023, 3:53pm; Reply: 38
Strange half that, played some decent stuff at times and got in behind well, but equally looked open at the back. Pitch isn’t helping, plays like an old astroturf one, bouncing a lot and running fast. Alex Hunt needs to show a bit more composure on the ball, and Harry needs to stop doing everything at 100 mph. Could go either way this one.
Posted by: lukeo, December 16, 2023, 3:54pm; Reply: 39
What is it Like on TV or radio? For me Arthur is struggling to keep the ball and is lightweight in being challenged or challenging for the ball, I'd bring a cm on and put clifton out wide possibly. Apart from that we need to just get that final ball right.

The atmosphere sums up the game, none eventful
Posted by: Kris2, December 16, 2023, 3:54pm; Reply: 40
Just need to get to grips with the physicality that Newport are showing but they won't be able to keep up that pace forever. Need to use the ball better when we do have it, just need to get the players composed again like how we started, snapped at a lot of passes that needed a bit of quality in the final third.

Newport not done anything that makes them seem like taking over the game though, if we can start using the ball better and create chances we'll soon frustrate them into making mistakes. The ref is letting an awful lot go though which plays into a physical side like Newport.

Hunt is getting bullied off the ball, hopefully he can pick up in the 2nd half, he's lost the ball every time he's been under any pressure 1st half.

Harry had a couple of nearly moments and is looking more likely to burst through and hurt them. Might be a game for Holohan to come off the bench if Hunt can't get a grip of it, he's a bit more physical.

Maybe like to see Khan on for Eisa who has been very quiet.

Think Newport will be the happier to come out of that with a draw. After the equaliser they went into panic mode and looked very vulnerable. Holohan knows he had a great chance to score and Ainley should have threaded a pass through on goal instead of throw himself to the floor hoping to win a free kick just outside the box.

Reasonable point. Sounds like Newport were a tough team for us to play as we try to build confidence in our new style of play, with some players struggling with the press. Good impact from the bench to get a point and we keep our unbeaten run going. We still haven't kept a clean sheet since September 2nd, though, which is holding us back.

I'll take a draw away from home against 12 men. Green and Holohan coming on changed things for us, especially Green he made sure Newport didn't have an easy ride.

Mullarkey and Ghanoua as a pairing are looking better and better every week at the moment, but Ghanoua gets MoM for me out the two. Every time he got the ball today I swear we created an opportunity to score.

I think today showed both where weve improved but also where weve still got a long way to go. Felt we looked focused and some players looked much more confident, but we made some poor decisions and gave away possession even when not under alot of pressure sometimes. A good point and continue to be hard to beat.

With Fgr, Sutton, Crewe and Tranmere all losing today that’s another point away from the drop zone and we have also overtaken Doncaster today.

A decent point in the. Too late with the subs today, Hunt was getting bullied and we were much the better side when Holohan replaced him.

The comments about Maher are way off the mark. Top player at this level. Thought the keeper might have thrown himself at the cross for the first goal, was very close him.

Another game unbeaten is a real positive.

Funny old game how some people see things differently. I though Clifton was poor today. We know he has an engine but this afternoon there was quite a combination of poor touches and poor decisions for me and I thought he was lucky to stay on.

Now a point nearer the play off places then the relegation places

Good come back when down. We've become a gritty side, all we need is some killer finishing when on top. But well done.

I think Forest Green will buy their way out of trouble in January.
We need to make sure we don’t get sucked into the danger zone again.
Good point well earned.
Thought Eisa played some loose passes at times. Clifton seems to be back to his normal self and Arthur superb.

You could be right.

I know there is a long long way to go, but right now Sutton look heavy favorites for the drop and Colchester are sinking like a stone.

Next weekend is huge. if we beat Harrogate we move ahead of them too and our climb up the table continues.

Thought we were very average today but a massive point in the right direction. Thank god for D Rose.

Well done town and UTMM

Funny old game how some people see things differently. I though Clifton was poor today. We know he has an engine but this afternoon there was quite a combination of poor touches and poor decisions for me and I thought he was lucky to stay on.

I think we just have to accept his limitations , he's not a young player anymore . It will be interesting to see if Artell can improve him as the only thing missing IMO is his finsl ball /shot which can sometimes be quite frustrating - in both yesterdays and the MK Dons game he had 2 or 3 opportunities to either put someone in or have a decent shot/cross but either chose the wrong option or didn't have the technical capability to execute .
