Day earlier than normal, but again, some interesting thoughts from DA.

Thanks for that Ginny. It's the first time I have enjoyed listening to a pre-match talk for months.

He obviously believes first and foremost it is the responsibility of the manager to get his team firing, well versed in what they are being asked to do and giving the opposition a lot to worry about, rather than worrying about the opposition strengths.

It is such an obvious proposition it is amazing any manager would think otherwise. Unless you can maximise your own strengths then the opposition will always have a good chance against you whether they are particularly good or not.

I liked the point where when Matt Dean asked him about Newport, he said it's not about them, it's about us, us, us.

Can't remember for a long time our manager effectively saying we have better players than the opposition and if we play to our best we will win - I like it .

100% this. I've never managed at a high level but I never understand why some manager concentrated so much on the opponents. Yes do your homework on them and pick out targets and areas they look to threaten but ultimately its about you.

Yes, really enjoyed that. The more I hear of his thinking the more I like it.

Interesting that he said the lady who's head of Loughborough Colllege was his first appointment at Crewe and is  a sports pyschologist. Wonder if he will be appointing one of those at gtfc?

Some managers are obsessed with the competition. I had a manager that sent me spying on what customers entered their premises and where they delivered to first thing in a morning.

Weird behaviour.

I seem to recall one of the first things Jolley (formerly of Crewe) did when he came in was to bring a psychologist in for a session.

If that was the season we barely stayed up when he first took over, that psychologist needs hiring full time. Pulled off a miracle with a terrible squad.
