Very interesting interview by Matt Dean, that goes off on some random tangents. Tolstoy's War and Peace anyone?

Passing mention of the transfer window, without any detail.

Matt also asks about Alex Hunt and why he hasn't been included thus far, among many other points raised.

Well worth a listen.

If I was a player, I'd run through brick walls for this guy. ExtraSpecialOne indeed.

Edit: Jason & Andrew deserve every credit for the 'due diligence' that brought him here.

Mmm. When asked if he had a role in mind for Alex Hunt, the response was “pivotal “.

Be lucky if game is on... -4 tonight and only +1 tomorrow.

Hope it warms up. If it is off, look on the bright side, at least we’ll be in the third round draw

That’s always the danger, though isn’t it. Arsenal, Spurs, Man Yoo away, and all of a sudden you’ve got a much more motivated League One opponent than is likely the case right now.

That said, in last season’s third round draw we managed to get the one Premier League side that meant more to Luton than it would have to us, and that turned out alright.

You know it will be Reading away. Oxford are motivated and another shite draw for us.

League Cup a few years ago. Macclesfield in the second round.  Re-arranged owing to a biblical storm in the original tie, winner knew they were playing Chelsea away.

You wouldn't know that carrot was dangled though, a drab 0-0 draw settled on penalties.  Arthur Gnahoua with one of the successful Macc penalties.

well if we get through/draw and we're away again, that'll be 6 FA Cup away draws in a row, some record

And from Blundell Park to those grounds we've played at, we've covered 2,448 miles without a home draw!

Crewe vs Bristol has been called off. To be fair to Crewe it has barely got above freezing the in 2 days here and was -3 below for most of the morning leading up the pitch inspection they did at midday

Interesting story about keeping a player engaged on the bench, very smart.

Interested to hear him say he’ll be meeting with Joe to “see how far down the line the club was with certain things”. Inference there being the recruitment work has been ongoing since the end of the transfer window and probably still carrying on with targets that had been identified through the summer. Saves him coming in and having to start from scratch which will be a big plus.

Can’t see anything doing with Murphy from Newcastle now given he came on against Chelsea last week.

Looking at Oxford's website, the pitch is covered with no apparent concerns of postponement.

Very interesting insight, what he learned and has taken on board from other sports and methods is interesting and shows his approach is to adapt and learn.

Listening to that talk David is a very deep thinker.

He will not come out with any bullshit  engage brain before opening mouth is the saying.

He wants to be here long term and I hope he his, that will mean he is successful.

The journey might be long but we will get stronger as time goes by I am sure.

Loved Artell’s interview  on BBC and club website. Interesting ,open ,informative honest all the things that Hursts interviews were not. Loved his answer to question about Amos injury what is it? Sorry I forgot I did know on Tuesday but I have forgotten he’s out for 2 weeks. Can see why the owners went for him. Nice to have someone with a brain and no bull excrement in the role

I'd stop listening to pre match interviews, as Hurst's were more or less the same. As you pointed out it was worth a listen, very honest and didn't evade Matt Dean's questions.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll start listening to them again.

We expect that would happen as common practice with most clubs planning for the next window just as the last one shuts, particularly when the club has a recruitment lead!

The issue might be the ones Joe had identified and researched don’t fit with the new way of playing?! I’d imagine the profile of players we have been looking at is very different to what Artell wants!
