Given the rumours that the board are keen to appointment Steve Morison as Head Coach, would you be happy with him?

Literally never heard of him. But if the board think he’s right, he gets my backing.

The reporter works for Reach, and I assume that’s exactly what this is. I will comment however that he was quite liked at Cardiff by the fans and they believe he should have had more time, once he got his signings in they was in great form. Signed 17 new players and then was only given 10 games.. They re-interviewed him for the job this summer before he took the Hornchurch job. He took the job because he wanted to get back into football and the Hornchurch owner sold him the dream at a charity match, which is a huge risk because if he failed there then his managerial career is effectively over. Top of the league and cruising.. would be an interesting appointment that’s for sure.

I really don’t understand why people are so against it, on first glance it’s a bit odd but the more you look at it the more sense it makes.

I think he'd be a good appointment but will he want to leave Hornchurch after such a short time there? If the Hornchurch owner is happy with the compensation Grimsby offer then it could happen and I'd be more impressed and excited than if one of the usual suspects came in.

I just don’t see us taking a manager from the Isthmian league. Yes, Morison had a good career as a player and has managed in the EFL at Cardiff, but I’m not sure there’s a CV there which suggests a sufficient probability of success.

I also don’t see why we’d be so far apart in any supposed negotiation. Assuming we’re offering the going rate for a League Two manager, and I’ve absolutely no reason to believe that we are not, if Morison wanted to manage in the EFL again he’d be here like shít off your shoe.

I’d be surprised if there’s any substance to this whatsoever.

To add to the above, this so-called reporter has been spouting quite a lot of stuff about the Brizzle Rovers job and several others (including Town). Just looks scattergun to me, and not particularly ITK.

I don’t think this guy knows anything.

Just from looking at his Wiki page, he certainly knew where the goal was as a striker in his playing days.

Sounds a bit of a grafter, who had to work hard to get to where he got to. And also sounds like he did great for Cardiff in that first season, turning them around and playing attacking football with a clear plan.

He’s from Enfield and played a lot of his career at Stevenage and Millwall, so it doesn’t bother me that he just took a job that’s local to him lower down rather than sitting on his bottom.

Might only be telling one side of the story of course, but it’s pretty wild to be writing off a guy who won championship manager of the month just last year, especially when he’s only a few years into his coaching career.

I agree with your point about the supposed journalist knowing close to f all. He’s only managing in the Isthmian division because he wanted to get back into football and give himself a challenge. His career was one that started in non league and he worked his way into the football league. He was re-interviewed for the Cardiff job this summer, he was also approached by a number of clubs in the divisions above after he was dismissed but wanted a little hiatus before getting back into management. You’re quickly forgotten about in football if you aren’t in the limelight and I think it’s possibly a case of the forgotten man and could play into our hands if there’s any truth in the rumour.

Whoever it is will surely be announced this week?

The new man will then have a few games to see what and who needs adding in January.

In view of the vision the board have for the club it should mean we get a manager/coach with a rock solid approach to where we need to get to and how we do it. This will be a very exciting appointment,  not so much for who it is but what his ideas for the future are.

Whoever we get I hope he has been watching our games lately (  I am sure he would have  ) and has spotted our weakness in defence and knows who he wants in january.

I have got a.feeling we might have a permanent manager in place by the time we play Oxford.

It's only a feeling I know nothing.

I don’t think this guy knows anything.

I read on Saturday that Reach Group are to make 800 staff redundant in a cost-cutting exercise. It looks like this guy is filling the paper with anything to keep his job.

Like many of the posts above, I don't feel their is any truth in this....

Reading about Morrison, the reaction to his time at Cardiff etc, I do think he ticks many of the boxes. Likes to play attacking, progressive football and had a decent win rate in a struggling side. Like mentioned above, was sacked after ten games despite winning 3 in ten and being allowed to buy 17 players. I saw Craig Bellamy interviewed saying the football Morison had Cardiff playing was a good quality and he was surprised he wasn't given more time.

I know there was some criticism of his 'honest' post match interviews but he's only 40 and you'd like to think he's learnt from that.

I wonder if he took the Hornchurch job on the promise he was free to go if an EFL club came in?

It’s the fans forum on Friday night so if there’s an appointment this week that could be an interesting event, if there isn’t JS & AP will have to do their best question swerving.

Can I apply for the job?

I like attacking pressing game.
I want the club to be an important part of the community and I want my players to be wedded to that concept.
I want defenders who throw their bodies on the line when required.
I want strikers with an eye for goal, and entertain.

I’ve never been sacked as a manager or coach and am prepared to relocate to Cleethorpes

I have a degree in Statistics so have bought into the new idea of management by numbers.

Nailed on?

I believe the 24th is Black Friday, so a bargain may be revealed.

See that Sean Scannell plays for him at Hornchurch.

You'll do well to find someone at this level that hasn't been sacked. There's many reasons why a manager could of been sacked. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Thing is its hard to say whether a manager is up to it without sitting in on the interviews. Usually if a manager has already done what we dream of our club doing, build a club long term and take them up a couple of divisions, theyre either no longer looking for jobs at this level, or if they are, its because theyre on a downward spiral a la holloway.

Hard to say much about the jobs hes done at either clubs hes been at so far as cardiff always seem like a bit of a madhouse and I dont know if hornchurch are a big club in that division or not.

All we can do is trust the board to do a professional job at finding the right candidate and then judge on the pitch. Because were not going to get a candidate thats already done what we want to do and then had no negativity in their career since

Rumours. No one had a clue outside of the Board.
