Pyke over Wilson? 🤔
Good to see Clifton dropped at last.
Good luck lads. UTM. 😎

Presumably Pyke as a wide attacker? Could be interesting.

On paper I’d have said a couple of months ago that the bench looks as strong as you’ll find in this division, but with our form I have a different perspective now.

I’ve got my fingers and everything else crossed today.

Could be a diamond midfield?
Could be 4312 with Khan in the hole?
Or could be 433 with Khan on the left of Rose and Pyke to the right of the front three?

If Pearson had picked the same side that Hurst would have, we’d lose. He has to try something different.

I would really like to see Green as the holding midfielder with Conteh ahead moving the ball quickly like we know he can. Conteh always shows to receive the ball and rarely loses it.

All about opinions I know but I think Conteh is the gem in this squad and has been wasted as a holding player.

Happy enough with the back 4 and goalkeeper. Happy for Green to get his chance screening them; he’ll at least put a shift in. Interested to see what happens with the front three. Really pleased Khan is back. I am guessing it’s on the left, but really hoping that doesn’t mean Pyke is on the right.

Setting off now. Come on Town

6 changes from Slough.

I’m now thinking…..yeah try it. One or two surprising selections for me, but we don’t know how fit certain players are. Couple of notable absences from the squad entirely.
Not sure what the shape is. Looks a bit like a go at the ‘double pivot’, with Green and Gav.
Come on Town.

Looking at it I read it as 4-2-3-1 with Pyke on the right and Khan on the left with Andrews as CAM.

I'd like to see Conteh with Green as a double pivot as someone mentioned above.

Eisa and Clifton as options to come on when legs get tired later on is a promising thought.

Fingers well and truly crossed

It defies logic why the NO are taking so long.

PH knew the problems and would have resolved them in the window, as unlike the last two times he came in throwing the baby out with the bath water (players). That option has gone now but he was the man to put this right IMHO.

Onto pastures new but FFS get on with it. We don’t need to pretend the process be complicated with data, blah blah or have so many people in the loop(we are not inventing anything new FGS).

No, but it would suggest we are playing better football, creating more chances (even if we're not taking them at the moment), and suggests we may be going in a better direction at least then we have been in the last 3 or 4 games

No I agree, we've at least looked better going forward, which is an improvement on the last 4 or 5 games even if we aren't making use of our chances yet. We know our defence is weak at the moment, but there's at least one bright spark to this game so far

Posted by: Maringer, November 11, 2023, 4:00pm; Reply: 96
Catastrophic error from Maher for the early goal, not just fluffing his easy header, but actually playing it directly to their forward and we weren't prepared for the midfield runners. Other than that (and one or two slightly shaky moments), we've done most of the attacking, but you've got to hit the target. A few headers where we could have done better and Holohan:s shot over the bar was probably the worst miss. We've played some reasonably good stuff and both of their full-backs look like they can be got at. Question is, can we take one (or more) of these chances, or are we going to gift them another?
Posted by: Mayaman, November 11, 2023, 4:01pm; Reply: 97
Awful defending for the goal but seemed to have reorganized.  Much better getting forward.  Wilson is much more composed in front of goal so needs to come on.  At least the players look as if they care.

Pyke off the right is causing all sorts of problems drifting in field and making late runs into the box . They have no idea what to do with him, a bit of a tactical masterclass from Pearson/Davies.

Glennon so excited about his crossing, he puts a nice one in the other end.  Loved how Cartwright got so effed off about it.  Another good sign. starting take command of his defence.

Thought Glennon and Rose were going to come to blows then. No need for Rose to charge up to him and lambast him when he's already acknowledged his f*** up.

I don't know. He'd bring a defender on. We went down to 3 defenders at the end despite being 2 goals up. It's opposite end of the spectrum.

Clifton or Green?

To be fair. Based on Glennon's recent defensive form, either I'd prefer to see a game out.

Credit where it is due.

What a difference it makes to the team when the handbrake is taken off, very refreshing ! That is the most entertained that I have been all season. I'm not advocating putting Pearson and Davies in charge full time but what today has shown is that there IS a team in there somewhere. With a good manager in place and a few additions to the squad in the January transfer window we just might rise up the table.
Special mention today for the performances of Glennon, Andrews, Rose and Holohan, much, much better.

Well done Town, UTM.

It does pose the question what was Hurst doing? We played fairly well and scored 3 goals against a play-off side who looked shite.
Posted by: LocalLadGTFC, November 11, 2023, 5:10pm; Reply: 193
From the second minute we went on the front foot and the brakes were let off, controlled the game in the first half and could of easily gone in 2 ahead. Took our chances in the second half playing some really nice football and looked better defensively until we made whole sale changes and Morecambe threw caution to the wind. Special mentions to Khan, Glennon, Rose, Pyke, Green and Gav today. Pyke really impressed me out on that right hand side and was very intelligent with how he dragged the defence around leaving space for Mullarkey to get beyond him. Glennon looked back to the Glennon we had on loan and was marauding up and down. Gav and Greeny really combative and controlled the midfield most the game. A really solid display against the most inform team in the divison barring Stockport.

I think they definitely were bolder and got a third goal. Let's not pretend the defensive frailties aren't there. They could have pulled level at least. Many players are working their balderdash off now, which begs the question. What were they doing before?

Credit to the interim's.

Our new manager will be watching that display tonight and will be pleased with the effort put in.

He will have noticed what we are good at and what needs to improve.

So he can start his new job running.

Not actually running but you know what I mean . ;D

Great result against a team in a play off spot. Will do wonders for our confidence.

Our next two games are against the bottom two. A golden opportunity to put a big gap between us and them. Also we are now within 3 points of 5 clubs immediately above us. Two wins and we should overtake a few of them.

Next two games can completely change our prospects this season.
