Back in 2017, Gainsborough Trinity were flying high in the National north, with half an eye on promotion to the National league. They had a decent FA Cup run in the qualifiers and got to the 1st round proper and at the draw everyone wanted a draw against league opposition. They drew Slough Town at home which was a bit of a let down. But when the dust settled they realised on paper this was a very winnable game as Slough were in the corresponding league below them in the southern area. So the game arrived and Gainsborough were favourites to win and had a very big fan turnout to support them. All looked set for a good game with a great feeling that they could win. Slough completely demolished Gainsborough and won in a hack 6-0. It could easy have been 10-0. Slough  have had a lot of investment in recent years and have a decent following. They also use a plastic pitch. Just a cautionary few words, but we should not take this game lightly. UTM
