I think that came in the form Debbie’s programme notes last night. I don’t have a copy of them, but Tondeur read them out on RH. Does anyone have them to copy and paste?

Why do they need to say anything? It’ll only be criticised either way. Perfectly sensible for them to keep quiet.

The silence is deafening from the board about Hurst, just like the new training ground which has now taken 2 and not a turf lifted.

Yes, I do support JS & AP but they are the ones who quoted transparency many months ago.

What exactly is there any need for the board to be 'transparent' on here? If Hurst is going to remain in the dugout on Saturday they do not need to go and post "PAUL HURST IS STILL THE MANAGER OF GRIMSBY TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB" on the club website because a weirdly large section of our supporters are incapable of inference. There'll only be a 'statement' if they choose to relieve him of his duties.

Regarding the training ground the club have had an offer excepted by the Local Authority for a large piece of land.  The Local Authority decision is awaiting ratification after an appeal by a parish council, who’s area the land is located in.  So, I am led to believe.

And what parish council is the land located in?

Please not Great Coates

Unless you're announcing that he's gone then they're absolutely right to just stay quiet. What if they say they're backing him and then we lose 8-0 on Saturday? You just end up looking like idiots. If there's nothing to announce then don't announce it.

Think you might be disappointed with the answer!

Does it really matter where the training ground is located? I suspect that Great Coates is as good a location as anywhere else in N.E. Lincs. Not that I'm any kind of an expert on training grounds. Or have any real interest in them whatsoever.

Hopefully the balls will be round enough at the new place, when it is ready.

Immingham

Immingham has a 'Town' council, not a parish council.

Well you’ve got -

Ashby-cum-Fenby Parish Council
Barnoldby-le-beck Parish Council
Bradley Parish Council
Brigsley Parish Council
Habrough Parish Council
Healing Parish Council
Irby upon Humber Parish Council
Laceby Parish Council
New Waltham Parish Council
Stallingborough Parish Council
Waltham Parish Council

You’d think any sale of land would be covered in their meeting minutes/agendas, which are always meticulously updated each month, so if anyone fancies doing some detective work you should be able to work it out.

As we train in Waltham now, could it be somewhere else off Cheapside?

It's not on the agenda for Waltham Parish Council.

They said that they wanted to bring it into town so it is accessible to be used by the community.
Don't think Great Coates fits the bill.

The board have said that they want to training ground to be in a central location, accessible by the whole community. There is nothing in the brief Bradley minutes from the last few meetings and the others don't look to meet the criteria.

It could still be on land around Great Coates, but sufficiently away from the village, but with easy access from the A180, which would also make it a lot easier for many of the players who commute, knocking 20 or 30 minutes off their travel time to and from Cheapside. Maybe somewhere around Europark/Great Coates Interchange, where it is out of audible range of the village. Even if it is to be used by the community, sound levels would be at a minimum, and without any large stands blighting the landscape.

Looking around the area, the most obvious places where there are areas of land large enough for two football pitches at least (a la Cheapside) would be either Great Coates, land between Laceby and Bradley (not ruling out Bradley pitches either), the vast tracts of land between New Waltham, Scartho and Taylors Avenue (we've been there before!), New Waltham itself, and Humberston, but top of my list are the two large fields off Taylors Avenue. Yes they are both used regularly, BUT just by changing owners doesnt mean that usage would change, considering GTFC said it would still be used by the community.

I have been told the former immingham Golf Club which the land owned by NELC.  The issue is one of the North Bank Business wanted to Purchase the land at a lower price and gift it to Immingham Council with a grant to open it as a park.  Hence the challange on the sale.

I repeat, they have stated that they want it in town, and have identified the site, IN TOWN. It would appear that they are waiting for the council to go over the plans and give planning permission. Knowing our council it will take many years.

The council are spending a few million on Clee Fields, 2 new 3G pitches and new changing facilities. Not sure if they will be suitable for professional use but there should be more than enough pitches for community use.

Would community demand/use be required for a grant application?

If as has been stated the new training ground will be in GRIMSBY, and they are awaiting a recommendation by a parish council for NELC-owned land then it doesn't leave many options; so I put those that are not applicable in orange.

EDIT. There is nothing in the minutes of Bradley PC referring to GTFC

Only half the land was owned by the council, and access to that land is horrific, plus its hardly "central" Grimsby pal..
