Always good to see a Gnahoua signing.

Winger or striker, ex Morecambe

Forward, but not a centre forward. Left, right, or behind the main striker, according to PH in his pre match.

A couple of decent touches here and there but didn't really get involved too much today. He's only been here 5 minutes so hopefully we'll see more as he settles in.

Luke Armstrong left out by Harrogate today as he is the subject of several transfer bids and is obviously interested in moving on, think he’d be perfect for us but possibly too late after all our other forward signings.

He is absolutely the type of player we need. I hope we are one of the clubs in for him. You could see today that once again we are short in the area that really matters.

He'll be going to league 1.

As a responsible modern man I’ve just text all of my previous sëxual partners about my Gnahoua.

You should all do the same (particularly if you’ve just received a DM from me)

I totally agree but from what hurst said in his interview the other day it does sound like the budget is all but spent, so I can't see us being in for what woukd surely be a huge chunk at this level.

I ersonalky can't see why we woukd go spending on gnahoua who seems very similar to an assortment of players we already have in being able to play across the 3 behind the striker but can't play up top.

Just because we allegedly got over a million from the FA Cup run ADDED onto the budget that 1878 had already put aside for this season DOESNT mean that it all went into this seasons coffers. Because the chances of us getting to the quarter final again this year are negligible, it wouldnt surprise me if they have kept a good chunk of it back to add on to next seasons transfer budget.

Talk is Wrexham or Bradford

I’d like to think we were in for him as he’s a goalscorer but I’d be astonished if he ends up here. It’ll be a Yorkshire L1 or L2 club.

Yeah, he's exactly the type we need, though agree unlikely we'd get him. I thought Wimbledon's number 9 Davison yesterday looked a real handfull and I was suprised they took him off until I saw how quick his replacement was.

No chance Armstrong will be coming here. George Lloyd didn’t make the Cheltenham squad yesterday; he would seem a more realistic target and while not quite a like-for-like comparison did play that number 9 role well last season.

There’s more chance of Lance Armstrong signing.

Or even the January window, once PH has had the chance to see what this squad is really capable of.

He’s a Wimbledon fan, isn’t he? Pretty sure I read he was a womble.

It could still happen. He initially signed for Norwich but they made him give back the yellow jersey.

Don't disagree but does seem like the money for this years budget (or at least this transfer windows budget) has almost all been spent, judging from what Hurst said. I can't see us having enough left in the tank to start getting in a bidding war for luke Armstrong put it that way.

Thought yesterday once again demonstrated our lack of physicality as several of our players are easily eased off the ball when in contact with the opposing side and it’s great that in a 19 year old Conteh we have someone at least capable of competing in this area (I also think Khouri and Green help in midfield when playing).

However, it’s still a major problem for our front three and this means we will have to play some very sharp, intricate passes to create goals and whilst we are looking much more able in doing this with the improved quality of player it’s a big ask plus limits our options. Not sure if Pyke will make a difference but I think on yesterdays brief cameo he’s not quite got the height and muscular physique I think we need.

Just seems odd that Hursty referred to this as an issue several times last year in post match interviews but hasn’t seemed to have addressed it and I think the lack of height made us a little vulnerable from set pieces with a few scares in the first half from corners.

Our playing budget for this season (both capital for fees and revenue for playing budget) is completly gone.

Hurst has nothing left and we only have loans available if parent club pay wages. So we are looking at L1 / Champs sides loaning young players again like last year.

I can say with 100% certainty this is the case &
recent unfoseen costs re roof and stands not helped but not the cause.

Jason, Andrew & Debbie running it like a
business & its spent re transfer kitty & wage bill as a % of revenue at the limit.

Squad is ok tho, so UTM 👊

This is the way it should be, and is the reason I actually want other clubs like Bury, Bolton, Derby etc. to go bust when they get themselves in trouble , otherwise it’s those like town (I.e. the vast minority) who will always be relegated and have bad times.

They are running it like a sustainable business and hopefully ensures that my gradkids will have a club to love like I did.

100% no problem with this and £75k on Conteh shows PH backed when he asked

Hurst likes a squad filler loan or two, usually as a wide man or forward so I expect that is what we'll see. Also expect that if the conditions we are working under (parent club meets 100% or 90%+ at least of wages) are what you say, so we're in the bargain bucket, then these players will be the same level as usual too I.e. not quite good enough like pepple/symonds/oneill/revan etc. But you never know.

I believe the money from the cup run has been spread over three years, so Conteh's wages for instance has been covered for the whole of his contract.

Good job we got that million pounds from the cup run then which we were told was going entirely into the playing budget or we would only be fielding half a team this season

Don't think Conteh will be here all his contract .I think town could end up selling him ,mullarkey and couple of others for decent money next year or the one after

Or a slightly smaller squad, a few loans and a touch less quality

Hurst loves a loan or two at the end of a transfer window, don't expect this month to be any different.

Other clubs have yet to decide who is in there plans and who isn't.  That trickles down from the very top, eventually reaching us with players becoming available.

I thought Gnahoua looked what he is, a player who hasn't really had a pre-season and only trained with his new team-mates for the last week.

Was moments when he got on the ball where he looked set to do something but was just a bit rusty.  Morecambe fans seemed quite complimentary and Hurst clearly knows what he'll be getting from him.  I think it's a decent signing to be honest.

Like Rodgers ,Rose,Pyke and Mularkey a good number of Morecambe fans wanted him to stay and rated him .

That will do me ,Iv imagine he will challenge Vernam on the left when he's up to speed - looks a very good player going off the highlights of Morecambe .
