Cannot wait for them to return to were they belong non league, he just uses FGR FC as a platform for his veggie eco bullshit. I have no problem with people's personal perferences, but when they start pushing their believe's and idea's on to others, is when I have a problem.

totally, though conversely they'd be in the Screwfix league without him.

I think you've literally described every political system in history, democratic or not.

Genuinely struggle with the anti-Vince/FGR viewpoint that so many seem to hold.  What is it that people dislike about him so much?  That he's a bit eccentric?   That he's successful?  Different?  Challenging the norm?

I've no issue at all with Vince holding an alternative view on how the world should be run, in fact I welcome it.

Maybe we should have a tie in with Country Joe and The Fish.

And that people get so steamed up about it when it's not their club. I could understand the fuss if it was our owners but it's not!

And yet there's nothing on here about the Saudi ownership of Newcastle and they're doing a lot worse than trying to get us to eat less meat and buy a leccy car!

FGR generally try to do the right thing. I genuinely respect their approach. As for the premiership ownership and morality that is different and I would not go to watch a Grimsby team funded in such a way. Each to their own I guess

Pioneers and innovators go against the status quo.  They get flack.  Eventually they are accepted and even liked/respected for their actions.

Pioneers and Innovators Recieving Millions of Pounds in Green Subsidies and Green Levies which come from hard up Bill Payers whilst at the same time donating to Political Parties and Environmental Protest Groups to further their own cause and recieve more subsidies doesn't quite sit right with me, Especually when the Chairman lives in a Castle and drives a Million Pound car whilst claiming to be a socialist.

Well, that may or may not be the case.

I was brought up in Gloucestershire for a few years, and reckon that geographically and local-culturally speaking -- the Wurzels would have been a more authentic fit for Painswick Rovers than the Dead.

Mangel wurzel is a fine vegetable too. If you're a horse.

Depends how you want to try to change it, Hitler's plans weren't too well received by most but some thought they were great.

Good debate, this one, and similarly a great link between FGR and The Grateful Dead. I wish town had a link to Led Zeppelin, Metallica or AC/DC or someone, but we don’t. Quite jealous really.

Once you’ve had the best there is no need for the rest.

What is Wagner up to nowadays (besides the attempted Russian rebellion)

I don’t see what he’s doing as anything that bad . If he was really trying to push his beliefs he’d have got into a bigger club than FGR with a bigger profile. If we had the ££ he has we’d probably invest in our club

Been following the Cockney Rejects for decades and the West Ham link grates especially as mum's side were from south of the river.

And yet I don't see any posts on here from you about tax payers paying Johnson's legal bills, the Mone cash not being returned, millions of pounds in Covid contracts given to Tory donors with no oversight, land in the 'Tees Freeport' being sold for next to nothing and millions made just from the scrap, the money wasted on useless PPE, Thames Water shareholders being paid millions in dividends while the company ran up 14 billion quid's worth of debt and pumped raw sh*t into our rivers.

No, it's the subsidies to a green electricity company that are the problem.

Ohhh dont get your knickers in a twist, the subjects you mentioned are non football related and nothing to do with FGR or Dale Vince which this thread is about and my point being that Vince is using an agenda and greasing the right palms to further his wealth and use the Football Club as a vehicle for his agenda.
FOOTBALL RELATED AND ON TOPIC FOR THE THREAD.
Now get a grip!

You're absolutely right, attacking Vince for subsidies, his links to political parties, his car and his house are completely about football. In fact only the word 'chairman' in your original post has a connection with football.

I know it's hard to deal with when someone doesn't agree with your view of the world and you just don't understand why.

Pot calling Kettle right there!
Now grow up, Vince is Chairman of FGR which is what this thread is about so has everything to do with football, how else did he buy and fund the club!

And Rod Templeton wrote for Michael Jackson.

And let’s not forget the song Grimsby by Elton John.

And Gary Moore was married to Dave Booth’s daughter and they had a flat at the top of Sea View Street.

I didn't know that about Gary Moore.

I used to work in the US and when a colleague found out I was from Grimsby they asked 'like the Elton John song?' They then asked me if Grimsby was really like that.......

If you don't know the song, look at the lyrics. It is not a description of Grimsby!

no issue with Vince or his ideas, i welcome them, he's trying to make the world a better place, and I like his different outlook on things, yes FGR are a nothing club but thats not his fault, he's stuck to his principles in keeping them green.

Rather a Dale Vince own a club than the Saudi's, the Sheikhs or the yanks

Its a nostalgic song about the fishing port of Grimsby. When I hear it it takes me back to when my dad was due in from sea, and we used to stand by the lock gates as he spotted us and waved, and I used to dive into his kit bag to find the huge tins of quality street chocolates he used to get.

I'm quite teary eyed I am so I think it is a poignant song. It wouldn't have the same impact if he sang about say Freeman streets demise I don't suppose.

Oh completely. And the lyrics were by Bernie Taupin who wasn't from Grimsby but has very close links with the area.
