I don't know why I choose to go to Grimsby Live to look for alternative news on the Mariner's when this website is the holy grail of all things town, but what a shambles the telegraph website has become.

No news on town since 30th June and that was just them musing with the idea that we might sign another striker since Orsi left.

No news on the new strip
No news on the signing of Conteh
No news on the signing of the 2 keepers
We've even had a pre season friendly with no coverage whatsoever.

All there transfer news has been based on rumours on twitter, info from this site and seemingly no journalism or interviews with staff members whatsoever. Do they even have a dedicated sports team anymore.

Needless to say, I've lost all interest and patience now and won't be revisiting

Something seriously wrong with Grimsby Live. Said to the wife how they haven't covered any of our recent signings or game GTFC. Embargo? Thought we were supposed to at the heart of the community?

GI Media are our official media partners. Radio Humberside get access too. Anything in the Telegraph is something that is already in the public domain and covered by someone else.

I dare say the clickbait drivel produced by the likes of Elliott Jackson and his replacement Sam Allen has been part of that move away from them. A real shame because James Findlater played a huge role in exposing Alex May.

It has been crap and slow for ages now.. Feels like they are not wanting us to heve a sports page any more

They were churning out loads of articles, quite frequently as well and then absolutely nothing since 30th June. It's only something that seems to have become apparent over the last week.

I'm an exile and I haven't looked at it for Town news for a long time. In fact I'd more or less forgotten about it's existence.

For context and some consolation - the site is owned by Reach Media who have similar local sites all over the country and Grimsby's is far from the only one that is sh*t. I wouldn't go to my local one for local news either.

Sad to see what it's become as the Telegraph was once a must read. I remember when Geoff Ford was sports editor, he knew the Mariners inside out and I couldn't wait to read it every day. They also did those huge pre season preview pullouts.

Guess the bloke who covers GTFC is on holiday so they just shut down the news feed
Interesting that the Reach outlet in Middlesbrough covered the Conteh sale from their end but nothing here. It’s all lazy and incompetent

Should be on a hook and a piece of string.

I used to love those Saturday Telegraph football annuals that came out just before the season started. They had all the fixtures plus loads of pictures and articles. I am sure something similar would sell like hot cakes if reserected.

They missing a trick as the only reason I used to buy the Telegraph was for news on the Mariners

The sports telegraph was like getting the holy grail on a Saturday evening. I suppose it was good, because at that time I was 16/17 and town were on that crest of a wave with AB.

No coverage of the Grimsby Borough match.

No coverage of Cleethorpes Town either. It would appear that Local sport is no longer embraced by what it calls itself; a local newspaper.

I tweeted the Grimsby Telegraph sports reporter Sam Allen and he replied that he’s still writing the articles but currently they are only going in the actual paper itself. He used to post the said articles online himself but he’s not allowed to do that now. Whether they will in the future he couldn’t say.

I suspect they’re hoping more people will actually buy the paper but I hope they’re not holding their breath!! #UTM

Loved the sports paper on the sat evening.  I sometimes glimpse through the telegraph when i pop to see my folks and it got me thinking (dangerous i know)....

who was the very first town signing I remember from when I started to read the paper (back page).  It was Dale Banton.

Some of you may not know but when Roy Lines was sports editor he only ever covered home matches. All the away games were written by Stuart Barnes who worked in the Scunthorpe office where Graham Taylor’s Dad, Tom, was sports editor.

Is this paper the one that was called The Sports Telegraph?  If so, I used to run down to Clipson's paper shop in Barton at about 7pm every Saturday night to get it when it was brought up from the railway station.

Delivering it as a paper boy was a pain in the butt, had to go back in at 6pm to deliver about 4 sports telegraphs

Wonder what would happen if all town fans collectively boycotted the telegraph due to the appalling coverage. I for one ONLY bought the telegraph for the town news on the back cover, the sport's telegraph was amazing on a Saturday night, especially due to the Sunday league write ups, league tables, mariner charicature mood based on result and reports on towns game n player ratings.
Now the fishy runs ALL town gossip, runs the telegraph stories as they occasionally read the rumours and  news reported on here. Do you have a sports dept and especially at a time when interest in the club is at a highest.
The Donovan Wilson story on the site when he's been injured for 2 weeks is just an embarrassment. I've not bought a paper for at least 5 years and the website is riddled with adverts and click bait so will gain my town knowledge from the mariners chronicle here.
The telegraph team must be in a desperate state for this to be allowed to happen. Heading the same way as the Scunny paper.

I hope I'm not missing the point here but GI News who are supposed to be the clubs media partner has not reported on any new signings from what I can see, on any pre season games, the last thing I can see Grimsby Town FC related is the match report of the last match of last season.

So it seems GI news aren't much better and they are the clubs official media partner!

The Telegraph along with Echo were taken over by the Reach Orginisation, which single handedly have destroyed Local Report. The majority of the articles have factual errors in them and are appallingly written. The circulation figures have plummetted to such an extent they will not publish them. There have been mass redundancies and morale amongst staff is extremely low.

The Telegraph costs £1.55 at the moment.  The sports pages are full of regurgitated waffle about GTFC.  Lots of takeaway food reviews and features on big houses for sale.

Mickleburgh is still submitting letters to Viewpoint.  I used to read his ramblings for a chuckle, but simply ignore them now.

I would buy the paper everyday in the past.

About 18 months ago (maybe even less) it was 65p. Then it went to 75p, then 95p, £1.15, £1.35 and then to its current £1.55.

I stopped buying it after it went above a pound. I am surprised it is still being printed to be honest, the circulation figures must be very low.
