Taking my lad to his first away game at Donny. Tickets arrived and he’s sat in a completely different area to me. STH but been some time since I went away. Does the seating allocation even matter or do you just sit where you like?

On the website it says

The Mariners have received an allocation of 2977 unreserved seating tickets for the match.

So guess can go anywhere? haven't picked my tickets up yet.

Yeah it's unreserved seating so you can sit where you like, I believe.

Unless South Yorkshire’s biggest firm excrement their pants, you’d imagine Donnie would give us pretty much whatever we asked for given their gates and capacity.

Unreserved too…happy days.

Just seen on Facebook what we’ve sold all of our initial allocation .
Hopefully they send a few more now

Anyone have 2 spare tickets? Was really looking forward to this one.

15000 capacity stadium and they had under 6000 there on Saturday yet they will not give us more tickets. They obviously do not want our money...

That seems pretty routine nowadays unfortunately

Police advice

Expect so. Very surprised it was allowed to stay at 3pm on a BH. Too late to change it now. Excellent showing again considering only where in mid-table riding on the game.

I'm struggling to get my head around this one a bit. I'm not so sure it will have been purely based on police/SAG advice.

Does it not seem a bit odd that it's unallocated seating to anyone else? Can anyone remember if that was the case when we've been there before? Bradford took 4000 there about a month ago which is pretty much the entire stand. If it's unallocated seating I don't think you can sell out the stand as you have to leave 10% or something I believe. Which would mean we had allocated seating when we went there the season after our first promotion from the NL and it would mean Bradford did too earlier this season.

I'm wondering if we took on a reduced allocation thinking that we'd get another 3/4/500 if we wanted it or so but that someone has kiboshed that plan today.

It's possible we've undershot how many we'll need for Donny and overshot how many we needed for Bradford?

Or have Donny retaliated because our away allocations at BP are down and they sold out earlier in the season and couldn't have any more?

100% it’s a police thing. If it’s not I’d hazard a guess at someone possibly not realising how many we’d shift (I’m surprised they’ve all gone). It was unreserved seating when we took 4000 odd, the unreserved seating makes it easier, just get in and get a seat.

Could be Donny avoiding extra police costs, probably at the allocation it covers the additional to a normal match day costs but add an extra 500 say and the extra police costs are not covered by those 500 tickets.

Could well be. Probably did some quick sums and realised for the extra coppers needed to accommodate 3/3500 it’s not worth the expense…

Just seen it’s Hull v Millwall 3pm Monday too. Could be interesting around Donny station. Luckily Oldham should just pass straight through on their way to Scunny!

I'm with you on this and the clue is in the text in the story on gtfc.co.uk:

Quoted Text
The Club had been given an allocation of 2977 by our hosts for the match at the EcoPower Stadium and, despite our requests, we have been advised that no further tickets will be made available to Mariners supporters.

"requests" (plural). Why would Town request additional tickets more than once if it was restricted by police advice?

We asked for the extra tickets. It’s a police thing.

Police can only advise, they don’t make the decision.

Donny have probably looked at another £20k (max) from tickets, taken out additional stewarding & police costs and thought it’s probably not worth the hassle. Might be hard work getting more stewards in at short notice too given it’s a bank holiday.

Doesn’t stop GTFC asking the question.

Could be well over 5000 empty seats on the day, pity really, still their money loss not ours

Town would’ve shifted 1000 more at a push. They’re not gonna sell anymore and my understanding is they’ve got a protest going on on Monday.

Extra policing would cost most than the money they’d make from the extra 1000…

We can’t really moan, we’ve been giving shite allocations all year…

We should always give Mansfield, Stockport, Doncaster and Bradford the full end
