This formation worked well at Salford but it did include 2 different wing-backs, a position absolutely vital to whether it works or not.

Pleased to see Richardson start!

Orsi is injured along with Maguire Drew. Hurst said this in his post match interview on Tuesday.

Shame to see German winger Otis Kahn on the bench though.

We have Hunt Green & Khan on the bench - Clifton Holohan & Morris  starting. We really do seem to have strength in depth there.
Not sure about Orsi - where is he?

According to this both Efete and Amos have a No2 shirt and Richardson doesn't have a number!

For the record, Amos is 22 and Richardson is 19.

Would need to see it again, couldn't tell if Taylor was just stood in the way of the remaining defender or actively impeding him from challenging Clifton. Certainly looked like the ref was too quick to blow up on first viewing though.

If anything this half is more annoying than Tuesday. If there was a team there for the taking it was Hartlepool especially after going 1-0 up. Very poor final ball in the box has let them off and allowed them back in the game.

Great opening 15/20 mins, lovely goal (goal of the season contender for me). Pressed high Hartlepool having all sorts of problems and looked a nervous wreck.

We've then stopped pressing and let them back in. Morris isn't having the best game today passes going all over and just doesn't look up to pace today. They've also started to concentrate their efforts on our 'Arry stopping him get into the game anymore.

Richardson, Holohan and Efete have really impressed this half though.

We’ve been okay but they’ve been absolutely shite and we should’ve put them to bed now.

Amos & Clifton have been pretty poor down the left but Richardson & Holohan have been great. Taylor’s had some good flick ons but again has struggled to keep the ball up there long enough to bring others into the game.

Morris is in the same boat as kiernan last week, had a booking, did a tackle outside of our area which could have been another if he hadn't been booked already. He's not having a good game anyway I'd probably take him off to be safe, Hunt is a good replacement anyway.

Efette can look good when nobody is in front of him, in their situation I'd probably risk that too and leave a player further forward.

Makes me laugh, we take one step forward then two back. Why do we never attack a 1-0 lead?

Good teams don't let it slip like thinks .  Had to put it to bed with a second . Not having a fox in the box striker is coming back with a vengeance

No sympathy. They deserve it. Crap on Tues, even worse here. Getem in tomorrow and run em ragged. Shithouses

Or come in to the 21st century and get them in Monday, analyse the excrement out of the mistakes and explore ways to rectify them.

Or perhaps we’re having a little poor spell…every team has them.

I don’t understand why we score early then give up.

I don’t understand the substitutions.

I don’t understand the shape after those substitutions.

I don’t understand how we let games drift when it’s clear what’s coming.

I don’t understand how we end games with 87 central midfielders on the pitch but still can’t string 2 passes together.

I don’t understand how Pepple is a footballer.

Pools lost there last 5 and we give them an easy ride.
We should have walked this game.

We did, had how many goals disallowed first half? If those are goals the game is over before second half but the second half capitulation is pathetic. Time wasting and trying to see the game out got them riled up and we let them back in.

Simple fact is we didn't sign that hairs on the back of your neck striker to take all the chances we have been making so mid table it is at best.

Nonsense. 63 mile run on the beach tomorrow followed by a 33 hour shift on the docks first thing Monday.

*They can do what they want. That's a poor performance though isn't it. As was Stockport but they're a good side and we won 1-3
My feeling on Tuesday is they thought they were better than Barrow. Likewise today

No threat, no pace and then negative subs

There’s too many people bothered about signing hairs on the back of your neck centre halves isn’t there?

Should really get something when you go to the Team at the bottom of the league. Especially when you lead for 70 odd minutes. Must do better.

So much for our game management.  A bit of a reality check when Crocombe has to waste time with 30 minutes to go.   Once they equalised, there was only gonna be one winner.

Rarely get drunk off at PH, but they were there for the taking with 10 minutes on the clock. Wtf what did he stop attacking for, why are we replacing forwards with holding midfielders.

Pepple and Simmonds also arent good enough
Posted by: buckstown, October 29, 2022, 4:59pm; Reply: 163
We just lack the quality to finish these teams off. That gives them a boost, then we tend to sit back. The frustration is that 20 minutes ago we were a point outside the play offs

Shocking finish to the game. Struggling to keep the ball so replace one of only 2 skillful attacking players with another hardworking lump. A midfield 4 like that when Green came will give us as many chances as my missus does. Shocking from Hurst, a team for the taking and he still won't go for it. Why do we go so deep so early, worst defence in trhe league and the keepers only made 2 saves and it took a worldie for us to score. Yes we were ok for 20 mins at the beginning and 5 mins at the end otherwise like at Barrow we were out thought and out fought again. I am just so livid  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhh

I had the feeling we would lose this. It’s the sort of game we would mess up in the bad old days. Badly need to win the next league game to stop the rot. I’m not bothered about cup runs. Just want to see us consolidated in the FL so we do not go down to the NL again.

First time this season that Hurst deserves criticism. Game management in both games this week has been poor, especially today. I didn't like the mentality of Crocombe wasting time with half an hour to go, it seemed to tell the other players that we were settling for what we had and gave Hartlepool the impetus. Hurst also sometimes has a habit of stripping the team of width because he thinks it makes us more secure, but it doesn't. It makes us vulnerable from deep crosses.

These two defeats are disappointing and it sucks the excitement out of our season, but I didn't think we were quite good enough for the play-offs anyway. We just need to make sure this doesn't become a losing run as we won't get away with it like last season. The two week break from the league might give us some time to refresh.

Terrible keeper of a team that's just beaten us.

Of course he is going to celebrate against the team that got rid of him.

He's not the girl private here

2 games where we got exactly what we deserved, absolutely intercourse ALL!
I really hoped that Hurst had matured into a more forward thinking manager but alas he's just reverted to type and proved that is not the case. And in a way I'm pleased that our new found "shittery" got called out today. I absolutely hate the way that it has become such a part of the game these days and was quite shocked when Hurst actually was praising of it in a recent interview.

At this moment in time I'm thinking Hurst can #£&@ off and take his negative tactics with him but I'll re asses tomorrow without the comfort of alcohol, at least we're mid table as I hoped at least we'd be, onwards and upwards UTM.

Can’t believe that the team who played so well against Bradford follow it with 2 appalling performances like we’ve seen.

Negative team selection followed by negative subs today.  Same old Hurst.

I still don’t think he knows what his best team or formation is, far too much chopping and changing.

With you there. I was down in London watching a PL game. Man of the match was one of the Wolves physios. He covered more ground than any of the players who collapsed in a heap at regular intervals. The physios should hold Equity cards for their part in all of the acting.

I hate the way the s***housery has taken over the game and that includes when Town are at it.

There was a programme on BBC Radio Sheffield about the time wasted at Sheffield United games this season. I think Birmingham City managed to waste 21 minutes taking throws, corners and goal kicks. It isn't football.

I watched a level eleven game last night and it was far more entertaining than most I've seen in the EFL and PL rhis season because the ball was in play for much longer.
