Apologies if this has already been explained but why would we kick off at 8.45?

World cup?

Edit:-

BBC and Fishy times are normal 3.00 and 7.45 etc.

It's to do with the clocks going back. When they change at the end of the month, so will the kick-off times.

They're from after the last Saturday in October so I think it's because they would be 8.30/8.45 under BST but by then GMT, so it'll revert.

It’s just the new OS being crap, but you’re not allowed to point that out.

With all of the office staff we’ve got, you would expect someone to notice.

Looking at train times for Wimbledon away on the 3rd Dec but think I’m right in saying England could play at 3pm on that day in the second round. Can’t get myself excited about this World Cup at all but don’t want to book train tickets only for the kick off time to move.

If England finish second in the group then that’s correct; they’ll play at 3pm on Saturday 3rd December. They should be winning the group, but please don’t take that advice that you should be booking your train tickets…

Quite like the idea of a 4 O’clock Saturday kickoff tbh (not the 2nd half btw!)

Isn’t that weekend also FA cup second round weekend? Usually is, so again, I’d probably hang fire on booking those tickets.

No. FA Cup 2nd Round is the week before.

And to back-up what others have said, hold off making concrete plans for AFC Wimbledon away. The decision will be made before we know whether Gareth Southgate’s England have scraped out of Group B in 2nd place.

There’s a good chance we’ll be out by then going on recent performances

I think we'll win the group. If England then play at 5pm on the Saturday, can they not just move the Wimbledon game until 12.30 or 1.00 so we all have time to get home for kickoff?

I hope you’re right on that. I imagine games that day could all be early kick offs.

I don't prescribe to the train of thought that the World Cup should only be played in the summer.  That suits the European calendar, not the rest of the world.

So the idea of playing it in winter doesn't bother me at all.  In fact I think I quite like the idea.  Winter is excrement. Everything is dark, it's cold, you want to be inside.  Summer is light, warm, lovely and you want to be outside.  Having something to watch whilst it's dark and miserable suits me better if I'm honest.

But I bloody wish the EFL had got their bottom in gear on this before announcing fixtures.  It was always going to present a situation where potentially England games were going to clash with league fixtures.  Even if fixtures are moved about, some fans are going to have to choose between watching their club or their country.  That shouldn't be happening, not for a World Cup.
