Sack their manager.

He didn't last very long.

Fifth Championship sacking of the season, just ten games in.

Game has gone.

Also, hoping for another 'name' appointment who has the remit to bring in more big signings from Turkey to solve their defensive problems.

Make a January recall for Smith less likely.

Burnsy’s 2009/10 League Two prediction for Town:

“I have a sneaking fancy that Grimsby will go up this year. Mike Newell has shaken the club up and based on summer recruitment, they could do well.

Who’d have thought it? McCann took them down but they were in a mess. The board stuck by him and tbf he took them straight back up. He had them safe in the Championship at the end of Jan and had just won his last two games. They opt for instead for a manager who has proven nothing. They got what they deserved. Hilarious decision making really.

He has, I saw him at BP last season as a punter.

He's often at BP, so is his lad...had quite a few conversations over the years with him, tends to go in the upper.

He's definitely a Town supporter. He's reported on Hull City for yonks. If you notice there's no hint of Tahgers or Anlaby Rurd in his pronunciation

Yeah see him now and again.
Also seem to remember on one of those old roly and John videos for town v lincoln where we won 1-0 (Cockerell pen) decades ago he was the invited town fan, sounded just like him anyway.

Burns and Swanny were singing the managers praises for his first few games, saying he was far better than anyone expected, and the club had a chance of promotion. A few defeats, manager sacked and new appointment shortly.

It’s a funny old game.

You are correct, toontown regarding Burnsy - that's definitely what was said on that video. Gilbert scored the pen at the Pontoon end..

Aah yes gilbert scored it, cockers won it.

Funny the tiny details you can remember from 30 years ago  like who commented on a video, but can't remember a match 3 weeks ago!

I think someone mentioned it above when they sacked McCann it felt like a Peter Swan decision.

I listened to an interview with their chairman a few weeks ago and he sounded like he was right up his own @rse.

Yep, I have that highlights video and he was co commentator that day. Always been a Town fan he just happened to fall into commentating on Hull City as he worked at Radio Humberside in those days.

He lived in Cleethorpes before moving to live in Hull and was a Town fan.

It would be interesting to look back at the thoughts and predictions of many on here when we gave the job to Holloway.

Indeed. Would be pretty embarrassing. As would a similar exercise at the time Newel was appointed.  For full disclosure, I am guilty as charged.
