Surprised to see Crocombe, Smith and Clifton start - I'd have taken the fine* for not following whatever the rules are on that sort of thing. Good to see Khouri get a game, thought he looked promising in his cameo v Notts Forest (as I believe they like to be known).

*obviously I've no idea how much the fine actually is

They have a pretty strong team out should be a decent test.

I'd liked to have seen Orsi upfront with Pepple. Think it could turn out to be a goal scoring duo?

First shot on goal, near miss, apart from this we haven't shown any threat on goal after 20+ mins. It appears we're playing the same plan as previous games in that we defend the first half.

Hopefully we'll come good later on.

Just an observation mate.

A truly wonderful servant to the club but at his age, playing so rarely isn’t going to be doing him any good.

With that said, we’re not privy to any agreement with the club re: coaching etc.

Don’t think he’s playing too badly, certainly not the worst. Danny Amos is being torn a new one by Mendez-Laing who is a quality player.

Think we can see why the likes of JMD, Khouri, Amos, don't start in league games, Amos's positioning has been absolutely woeful and Mendez-Lainge is having a field day with him.
Posted by: sonofmadeleymariner, August 30, 2022, 8:01pm; Reply: 45
There's a mix of things of note after that first 45 that are hurting us in this game.
1 the Derby squad is a class above us in every position (especially Mendes-Laing), you can see it from their movement on and off the ball, how they pass it and the way they close us down.
2 no support up top again Pepple has been isolated a few times now and it's not just him it's the same most of the time when we get the ball forward.
3 Our passes are very sloppy tonight always a yard short or over-hit.

But as most have said, it is a good run out for those who don't often get a game and that's all that matters in this competition.

Noticed in his last 3 games that when he lets our CB go out to the winger he doesn't cut off the square pass inside

I'm not fused about the 230 going, freedom of choice etc.. I'll be more gutted if they chose that over say Newport Saturday (if they was going to do one or the other).. I feel the boys need our full backing Saturday which is going to be a very tough game.

Everyone should feel comfortable to make their own choices and not feel they are going to be criticised for it.   Its pretty hard to get tickets for games right now, so these games might provide some people with a good opportunity to get to a game.

Whilst I'm only talking about streaming for myself as I live overseas I'll happily watch the Derby and Mansfield games. Won't be tuning in to watch us play Man City's kids though, which pains me when it's so great having the ability to stream back this season. Last season the only games I could see were the playoff games, Bromsgrove and Southend, plus made it back to GY for the Maidenhead game. Just can't bring myself to watch us play a Premiershite youth team.

Blimey, they pull in 30,000 for a league game. Shows what their fans think of it too. And that is with a cheap admission price.
