I'd heard that he'd died 3 weeks ago - it was the week before the final. Hadn't put it on here because didn't want to do so before the family had announced it - I now see that there has been a notice of this death and the memorial service is at the crematorium on Tuesday at 12.45. He had dementia.

He played 212 times for GTFC and made his home in Cleethorpes after he finished playing. His last season was my first going to BP as a child.

RIP Mariner...

Such a great guy, i was only around 9 or 10, but remember him vividly coming out of the tunnel onto the pitch with a cigarette in his hand, and went to his house once or twice for autographs, always got a lemonade offered. Rest in peace Bobby, my sincere best wishes to your family, a true legend.
