Fúcking hell, Peter Clarke to Walsall. I thought he must be knocking on a bit. He’ll be 41 in six months’ time.

It also seems their famously dyslexic head of recruitment has misunderstood the memo to “go sign McAtee”.

One thing that's clear pretty early on, is a lot of clubs not done any business at all yet. Great news considering we're slightly behind in terms of our season finishing and knowing what league we are in.

Many staff and players still on holiday I would imagine. I imagine the timing of things is a personal inconvenience to Hurst and co with such a short break compared to usual, but I doubt we’re miles off the pace in terms of getting players through the door.

Hurst did very well last season, especially after Christmas, when he could recruit at any point in the season, but now we are back in the EFL, we have a very strict start and stop time.

I expect Hurst to get a few bit-part players in as cover just in case of injuries to key players.

I've updated the original post as much as I have found at the time of writing, you can click on the names on the original post to find info about the players, or just go on wiki.

Post any new ones if you find any and/or any I may have missed going forward, I'll add them to the original post when I get time in the evening.

Assuming that’s Billy Waters from Halifax who has followed his boss to Barrow. I was kind of hoping we might pick him up.

One I seemed to have missed from originally starting this.  Tranmere Rovers have signed Paul Lewis from Northampton Town on a free transfer. The 27-year-old central midfielder, who was contracted at the Cobblers for next season, has left the League Two club almost a year after joining them from Rovers. He played 43 times for Northampton, scoring seven goals.

Stockport will do very well again. Bradford are a bit ‘Mansfield’; always have impressive looking summer window’s and then proceed to massively underwhelm in practice.

He’s in the Championship with Sunderland. He won’t be coming here; amazing we got him when we did really.

Think he's only played 10 times since signing so is probably a squad player.
Another loan move maybe, but more likely to a league one club

Just had a look at Matete's Soccerbase page: in the last 2 seasons he's picked up 26 yellows and a red in 74 games  ;D

12 starts and 4 sub appearances since joining them at the end of January, more chance of Fabregas signing!

couple of interesting managerial appointments Kevin Betsy moving up from Arsenal Under 23s to take over at Crawley; and at the other end of the experience scale, Paul Hartley, who's had great success at Cove Rangers, has joined Hartlepool

And just seen Swindon have appointed their no. 2, Scott Lindsay, to the top job

Yeah I can't imagine they'll get anywhere near 46 starts out of him but he was a very effective option off the bench for a Luton side who were just in the playoffs in the second tier so find the right balance between that and starts and they'll have one of the best strikers in the division you'd have thought.

Looks as though Bradford and Northampton are making a real go of it this year. Obviously nothing's won on paper (as we've seen) but you've got to think they'll most likely be making up 2 of the top 3

Bradford have done it for years signing bigger named players on higher wages and it’s got them absolutely nowhere..Gone for a huge name in Mark Hughes as manager who by all means was an amazing player but from his recent jobs suggests has a footballing brain the size of a pea.

Northampton also have made a few statement signings, I don’t think for one minute that Ben Fox wasn’t offered greatly improved terms and a good good wage at Grimsby but if someone else comes and blows you out of the water for stupid money it’s a no brainier for me.. Like others have said Fox was a mammoth in the playoffs and went onto levels we haven’t seen regularly in a town shirt from him. Big occasion that he stood up and was counted? Maybe so, I would have loved to keep him but not irreplaceable. Danny Hylton is a big name at this level and will no doubt get a few but how many games can his body last.. Not been used regularly by Luton past 2 years.

I trust in Hurst, probably end up with players on the back of an average season that some of us may raise an eyebrow at. But ultimately will have good traits and he’s studied them for some time, we are in a much better position now than we was coming back up last time. I’m not too fussed we aren’t signing players by the bucketload.. He will do what’s necessary to get the right characters through the door. UTM.

Wrexham, Stockport, Chesterfield & Solihull Moors splashed the cash last season, does not mean you get promoted.
Fox was excellent in the play-offs, due to injury his form was in different during the season.
Happy with the signings on paper upto to now, excited to see how it translates onto the pitch.

I appreciate the sentiment of this but the reality is it does make a difference. If the promotion structure was the same as league 2, 3 of the teams you mentioned would have gone up automatically.
