Are we going to sort out a collection again to sponsor a player (or 2's) shirt again next season, like we did this.
I'm more than happy to arrange the collection of money as I did for the season just gone when we actually raised enough to sponsor 2 players. Not sure if it's gone up this season but I'll email Sam at the club to find out.

A quick response from Sam.
Next season the cost to sponsor a player will be £525 plus VAT, so that's £630 each.

I will update this thread with the list of contributors as they come in.
Let's try and get to a couple again, like we did season just gone.

I notice on the GTFC website that Crocombe and Holohan dont have sponsors (unless it jus hasnt been added to their individual pages)
Foxy would be a good call again.

Aaah, that explains the odd amount that's just appeared! I think previous sponsors have first dibs so we should be able to do that.

Les - just sent 20 quid to your bank account.
Did we sponsor 2 players last year? if so, Fox was one - who was the other one?

It goes towards the cost of the kit for an individual player.
Last season 'The Fishy' raised enough money to sponsor Giles Coke and Ben Fox, with any excess money also given to GTFC.

Going a bit slow this compared to last season. Still a long way to go to get up to the amount to sponsor 1 player, never mind 2.
Still plenty of time left to get more donations in though.

Maybe incentivise it a bit and do a raffle for who gets to go on the pitch to collect it? £1/1 ticket or something?
Just about to send you a tenner anyway Les.

Not a raffle but I suggested something similar last season and hardly anyone was interested in being at the shirt presentation. It ended up being Aussie Mariner, Lukeo and me.
Thanks for the tenner by the way. Now up to £182.08

I see he mentions he'll be away until mid July but I will put you in the first fixture sweep as he'll be sending me the money when he's back. Who do you want to choose in the sweep or do you want me to pick you one at random?

Plus we have the promise of an extra £40 from Dicko995 for Woz and Twoleftfeet's winnings from the beat the clock game.
We have lost one of the players we sponsored last season in Giles Coke but it would be great if we could raise enough to sponsor Ben Fox again (as long as he signs) who was one of our stand-out players last season, so keep the donations coming in as we are still quite a way away from getting to enough to sponsor one player at the minute.
If you have contributed and I haven't listed your name, let me know as I might have missed a payment coming in.

Crikey, we raised enough to sponsor 2 shirts last year, surely we can raise enough for 1 shirt this year. It doesn't have to be large amounts as all small amounts add up.

No problem, as I've said I'll give it another week/10 days to see what else comes in but in the unlikely event it looks like we're not going to raise enough, then I will refund all those who donated.

It's an odd amount as I have had a payment through from a foreign currency which was converted and also someone has sent their money as if they are buying something, which incurs a charge, and not as "Send to family or friends"

Okay, latest update. Total raised now stands at £791.93 and I should be getting some more in any day now when Dicko995 sends me the money from the "beat the clock" game.
We've easily made enough to sponsor the 1 player but we're still well short of raising enough to sponsor 2 as we did last season, so if you haven't donated yet then please think about sending a donation over.
Posters who have donated so far are (if you have sent a donation and aren't listed let me know as I may have missed a payment coming in.

We have Niall Maher reserved for us to sponsor, so let's hope that he's fit for the start of the season.
If we do manage to get enough to sponsor 2 players again that's brilliant, although at the minute it's looking unlikley. If not any excess with be donated to the YDA.

Latest update - We've now broken through the £800 (£801.93) barrier but still a long way to go to raise the £1260 to sponsor 2 players as we did last season.
If we don't raise enough to sponsor 2 players again then any access of the £630 to sponsor 1 will be donated the the YDA.

No, not yet!

I've still not had any money sent from Dicko995 yet, so if those who said they were donating their winning from that to this could chase him up, that would be appreciated.

Well it looks like we're not going to raise enough to sponsor 2 players this season.
I have just had confirmation from Dave Smith that we will be sponsoring Niall Maher next season, just needs to get himself fit now! :)
I am transferring the funds over to the club this weekend and I will leave this thread going for another couple of weeks to see if we can get anymore funds in. If after that time we are still short then I will donate the surplus to the YDA.
Thanks to all those who contributed again, I will again ask for the shirt to be signed by the full squad so I can then auction it off to raise some more funds.

Well it's looking fairly obvious that we aren't going to raise enough for 2 players this season.
Even when I finally get the £70 from Dicko it will leave us nearly £400 short of the total we need to raise, so I will leave this open until the end of next week and if we haven't reached the total by then, I will donate the excess to the YDA.

Les does a fantastic job, not only on this but other things on The Fishy. I find it hard to believe, even in these times, that out of 6,000+ members we cannot raise enough to sponsor a second shirt. Last year at the end of the relegation season we raised enough for 2 shirts, so why not in our promotion year back to the EFL
£10 @ 40 Fishy members or £5 @ 80 Fishy members

This year there is a cost of living crisis. Times are much harder for a lot of people.

Yep. I totally agree, but we nearly doubled ( or did we double ) ST sales. Also, bear in mind small donations even £1 make large donations work.
Come on dig in and send something to Les.

That can be seen as a money saving move though. Much cheaper per game to have a season ticket, possibly bought on installments and get the paying out of he way before the crisis really starts to bite in the winter.

Emailed Dave Smith re sponsoring a youth/reserve team player and it is £160 + vat, which is £192.
I have so far had in £801.93, less the £630 I have already sent to sponsor Niall Maher, means that I have £171.93 over. When I finally get the £75 as promised from Dicko that will make it £241.93 (as a fiver of the money went on an entry in the first game sweep!) so more than enough to sponsor a youth/reserve team player.
I didn't buy a programme last night but if anyone did could they just put a list of those still unsponsored on here and we can choose who we want to sponsor.

No Youth team in programme, ! Think this is bad on two accounts.
1 - Fans would like to know who they are, and
2 - If you have sponsored one you have not got your name in programme.

I think that may be one part of the reason why its a lot cheaper to sponsor a yoof as you dont get mentioned in the programmes. I think the majority of sponsors of first team players are companies so they get a bit of advertising with it too.

If he's got the time and money to travel Europe in his motorhome, I'm sure he's got time to find one of the many ways available to pay the money he owes.
What an honourable chap...

Right, I have emailed the club re sponsoring a Youth player, which is £192. I have £171.93 over as I still haven't received anything from Dicko yet.
When I last emailed Dave Smith, he said that we might be able to do a reduced rate as the season has already started.
As Dave has now left the club I have emailed Sam Strandt and will let you know when I hear back from him.

What the füçk is Dicko playing at? It's 2022, he's swanning round Europe so doesn't have a valid excuse.

Well, I never did get any money from Dicko, so that's actually left me a tenner out of pocket as I entered one person into the first game sweep. I think I've given him ample time to pay up.
Right, I am still holding £171.93 and when I emailed the club re sponsoring a Youth player, they told me it costs £192, but we could come to some arrangement as the season is now a few months in.
I used to email either Dave Smith or Sam Strandt but as both have left the club now I will just send an email to general enquiries and see what I get back re sorting something out for this left over money.

Not had any reply from the club yet re this, so it seems like they're not too bothered about getting the youth players sponsored.
What I will do though is that I still hold £171.93, so if it's okay with everyone, I will hold onto this and put it towards next seasons total, seeing that we'll soon be in 2023. I will also email the club again about getting this seasons shirt presented.

Correspondence from the club has been diabolical recently. I’ve emailed 4 times regarding my ticket account

Didn't we get a free ticket(s) last year and a presentation for the shirt sponsorship? Is there one his year?
