Who do we want to win? Halifax have the best home record in the league. But I fancy Chesterfield.

Where's the crowd? Looks sparse to say the least.

Don't care to be honest. I think if we beat Wrexham, we will likely be playing Solihull in the final.

Another set piece goal. Danny Rowe.

Looked a red for me.

We are definitely better than both of these teams. Halifax especially have been dreadful.

Only watching cos of possible opponents in the final … edited.. neither of these two will beat Solihull imo

Halifax look poor on this showing. A reminder that the play-offs can do strange things to teams psychologically.

Even more so after last night, I am confident Hurst will have Town at the races mentally on Saturday. I think how Wrexham handle the occasion in that respect will have a huge bearing on the game.

Terrible game so far, good set piece for the goal but Rowe is so unfit and carrying a tadge of timber that he hasn't broken into a sprint yet but blowing out of his bottom after 20mins, lets hope for his sake it doesn't go to extra time, heart attack waiting to happen. Halifax really are tripe so far.

You've obviously never been in the last 20 years or so, much of it has been redeveloped in the past 25 years.

The stands behind the goals are quite impressive and the main stand is very nice.

The stand opposite is past its best but as a stadium if the standing was made all seating it would be a much better ground than BP
If it isn't already.

Not like it was when The Beatles played there in the sixties.

Looks like Japanese Knotweed in the far right hand corner.

I've been in the stand opposite when we got thumped 4-1 in Hurst's first game in sole charge and it does need pulling down and rebuilt, I was in that stand for that 2-2 when we got promoted under Buckley.

I've also been in the main stand a couple of times including the game where many fans turned against Hurst, and have to say it is better than the Findus/Stones/Youngs Stand.

Whilst conscious of some potential bias here, this game just seems so turgid and unentertaining compared to ours last night.

The pitch is playing very slow, I assume intentionally to aid Halifax’s through balls to their nippy front players. Chesterfield have set-up well to defend against that.

Think you're confusing it with the Bolivian guerilla leader, Che Stadium.

Decent strike, shíte goalkeeping. 0-2.

Halifax look like your classic play-off bottlejobs tonight.

“A season where they’ve acheived so much”

Scraping seventh and getting pumped at Chelsea (which is still only marginally better than our 2019/20).

I can’t see us being out thought or being out fought for that matter. If we can get the energy levels anywhere near like we did last night then we’ll be competitive for sure.

In 40 odd years of supporting Town I can’t remember a squad that are as resilient as this one and have so much belief that they’ll be able to get something from any game they play.

Is there a competition for rubbish haircuts in the playoffs this year 😳

Whilst the playoffs make things a lottery, neither side here look great. We know chesterfield aren’t a great side and Halifax have probably had their worst game for weeks.

In comparison to last night, this game has been leggy and slow, reminiscent of one of those awful Tuesdays night games you get down here…

Two bang average sides tonight. You just wonder if this result will spark Chesterfield into life.

Can't help thinking the winner will come from the other half of the draw to tonight's.

You'd think Halifax would have got a second wind and pressed on after getting 1 back but they seemed jaded even after scoring. Hope Chesterfield enjoy it because they can expect much more of a game from Solihull.

5,661 (2,063 away)

So Chesterfield didn't even come close to selling their allocation.

What allocation did chesterfield get out of interest?

I know crowds don’t win games etc but surely Chesterfield would sell their allocation, even though they’ve been woeful for weeks…

How are Halifax sustainable on that? It’s not much more than they get for a regular season game. As for Chesterfield that’s not a great following either.

As I posted a few days ago, home advantage is not that.  In the National League and NL North top teams are losing at home.

Would rather Chesterfield take care of Solihull.. we beat Wrexham..

We face Chesterfield instead of Solihull..

Guessing they would rather play us than Wrexham too!

Some of you would be weak refs easily influenced by OTT reactions. Barely a yellow for Mandeville, never mind a red. Halifax poor, lethargic, largely out-battled. Solihull will be rubbing their hands together after watching that but Chesterfield will go there with new found confidence but might be back down to bare bones if it wasn't just a fitness/cramp issue for Rowe
Posted by: moosey_club, May 24, 2022, 10:46pm; Reply: 50
Chesterfield set up ok, made it tough but Halifax's manager lost the plot quite early with the shithousery of Chesterfield and that Mandeville tackle...his body language was p1ss poor,  his face was sulking and he spent nearly all game whining at the fourth official.
That sends out the wrong message to the team who certainly didn't turn up.

Rowe going off looked like it could a recurrence of an injury so Chesterfield could be down to Tyson now as a striker
