Things seem a little bit tense just off the M1!

Fair play to Rob Staton for sticking to his guns on it.  Always liked Cook, ever since he made a point of joining in with the minutes applause for Futch but he doesn't come across well here at all...

I thought PC was being fair with the interviewer there. He repeated time after time that he was only prepared to answer questions on the Woking game, yet the interviewer kept wanting to ask other questions. PC gave him his chance but the interviewer was too persistent.

When Chesterfield appointed Cook I thought it was an absolute masterstroke. His managerial record is generally very good and I honestly expected him to take Chesterfield up this season. He still might of course, but they look the least likely of those in the play-offs to go all the way as things stand.

Evidently the injury to Kabongo Tshimanga hasn't helped, but he ripped up the James Rowe playbook and tried to implement his own ideas, to no great avail. He's got it horribly, horribly wrong, and he knows it in that interview.

Heard from a mate whos very close to the Chesterfield set-up that hes completely lost the dressing room. He missed training last week to go to Villareal - Liverpool and this is the first (i think) pre-match interview hes done, previously hes made the players do it

He refused to do a press conference after their last defeat which might be why the guy is giving him a hard time
There’s a big thread on their forum about this and Cook generally. They’re very divided about him, guess he a very divisive character

Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave Chesterfield before the play offs start.

Especially if they’re not in them…

Yeah he seems somewhat unhinged in that interview. I don't think Rob Staton does a lot wrong. The day managers pick the questions journalists can ask is the day sports journalism dies in my eyes.

As others have said, Cook is a well respected manager. Had Chesterfield been where they are now when he took over, I wouldn't have been surprised to see him turn them around. But walking into a winning dressing room with a winning formula and trying to implement your own ethos from there is a very tricky prospect. It would not surprise me in the slightest if they weren't in the play-offs come FT on Sunday. In fact, I'm expecting that.

I think Rob Staton is lashing out a bit because Cook is depriving them of post match interviews to ask those questions. Without fans there is no club and the media have the difficult job of being there as a go between. If they overstep the mark and upset the club, fans are then deprived of a lot more information.

For me, Rob Staton should have complied with Cooks request of asking some questions about the next game and then slipped a couple of his negative questions back in.

I like Rob Staton and I like that he said ‘I’ll ask the questions I want to ask’. Cook looks petulant and evasive.
Chesterfield have f***ked it in my view.

Seems to be a general view that Cook is pretty arrogant, add that to  the pressure he must be under and it's a volatile mix.
Weren't they top when he took over?

I think they'll limp in purely because Wrexham will beat Daggers

Irony is, when Jolley had his rant at Matt Dean for asking ‘negative questions’….he said he liked Rob Staton because he was a ‘straight shooter’. Makes Cook look like a baby.

Cook has been hiding behind a book of excuses for months....injuries, refereeing decisions  etc etc...
His team are shite, not entirely his fault as its not his squad really and the player that gave Chesterfield a chance is long term injured....but even with that in mind...they are woeful....he has to shoulder some of that.

Wow, powerful interview, hat off to the interviewer. If Cook had just answered the questions there would havee been no issues and they'd have swiftly moved onto the weekends game as normal.

I think the replies on the twitter popst, especially one from an ex Prem player just highlights the lack of understanding of what a journalost job is, and we have had this when Slade/Fenty/Jolley/Holloway has had a go at RH, it is a journalist job to be asking tough challenging questions, it is not their job to only be asking questions the manager wants to be asked. but unfortunaley some people seem to think a manager should decide which questions are asked.
