Released by Newport.

34 years old now but could he do a job for us if we don’t get promoted?

Would you have him back?

Couldn’t see him coming back though.

Not for me. It’ll be nice to move on from 15/16 eventually.

I wouldn't personally, I think his best days are behind him. Doesn't mean it won't happen of course

Have friends who are Exeter fans. They say his best days are behind well him. He struggles to complete full matches and has therefore meant he’s been used sparingly. Think this is best left where it is - and that’s in the past.

Exactly this. Some things are best kept as memories.

I'm sure IF Hurst is aware that he has been released, he will also be aware of Amonds lack of fitness and lack of goalsthis last season. If he had anything about him still, Exeter wouldn't have released him.

Sweep this one under the carpet.

Remember when Connell came back?

I’d have him back, absolutely. Would be a relatively inexpensive gamble and worth a try.

Watched Exeter couple times and although he only got 15-20mins each time he worked hard but wasn't close to getting a starting 11 place against their 2 strikers.. If we're national league next season and he's 'fairly cheap' then I'd be tempted. Otherwise no just keep the memories in our heads.

Not for me....

Well not for a few seasons anyway...a 10yr come back has a better ring to it

I thought we were supposed to be moving on and forward. We need to forget the likes of Fenty and others. Let's not remember Amond  for his great goal scoring season but wish him all the best for the future.

Honestly, you’ll be asking for Tony Ford next. Let it go

Without doubt a great player for us, part of a decent side but sadly, once penny pincher of the year copulated him over, that was the end of the line for Podge at town…once upon a time perhaps he could’ve f come back but not now…

I'd rather we were looking at these sort of players rather than a 34 year old

I would be very disappointed, we are trying to be on the way up and not  a final payday we have been down this road before. Great player for us a few years ago. Our forward line is crying out for some pace

Hurst can find better whichever league we are in, Podge and Omar are memories, let it stay that way for all concerned, we are a new club now with forward thinking ideas

3 or 4 years ago I'd of still snapped your hand off at a chance to sign Podge back. Now he's 34 if we were to sign him I wouldn't grumble as we know what he can do, but it wouldn't excite

Yes, that ship has sailed.  We move on.

I agree, and I posted a similar thread back in January.

But although some of them may be freescoring in the lower leagues, when they have made the step up to League teams, their scoring record has plummeted. Three big scorers in the first half of the season were as follows:

Luke Charman scored 12 in 16 games for Darlo, moved to Rochdale and has scored 2 in 19 games
Marcus Carver scored 12 in 17 for Southport, moved to Hartlepool and has scored none in 17 games
Callum Powell scored 11 in 19 for Kettering, moved to Southend and has scored 2 in 16 games

Yes and it was very easy to forget as well!

At this level Podge could do a job for lots of reasons and plenty of right ones it won’t be for us.

I see people are hoping we sign Danny Elliott from Boston who has good season and scored just shy of 30 goals this season. At least 10 of those are from the spot. Like Glen Taylor at Spennymoor I think he has a decent job so he's probably a tough one to get.

Cedwyn Scott at Gateshead looked quality when I saw him earlier this season but I do take it with a pinch of salt because Harry Cardwell looked absolutely class for Chorley last season.

Scunthorpe are very keen to build a team around him apparently
