McAtee a sub so he might get a run out to test his shoulder later in the game.

Fox in, no Jones in the squad and McAtee on the bench. Maguire-Drew an option to come on with energy for a limited time.  Should suit him at the moment.   Encouraging.

Abrahams up front to support Taylor also good.  Abrahams deserves a start.

Chesterfield have been woeful, albeit Torquay were lucky to get their pen.

Chesterfield should have been down to 10 as the ref missed an elbow to Hall's nose which he had to be substituted for.

9 minutes of injury time - 4 now left.

FT 2-0.

I think I'd rather Chesterfield limp into the play offs than have an in form Dagenham to contend with.

If Carlsberg did Saturday's Notts, Daggers and Boreham Wood would all lose today and we end up 5th tonight.

Coming back down to earth, I would settle for us winning and outscoring Notts to close that GD gap.

Undefeated in their last 6 games. Given previous results against lower level teams, a draw or defeat today was entirely possible.

He didn't have to jump all over the nearest guy seconds after scoring an own goal when his keeper had it covered again. At 0:1 down we can still recover the game so he just had to calm down but no, he gives away a penalty and gets sent off leaving us 0:2 down with 10 men. I've been one of his biggest supporters all season but he deserves a fine and to be dropped after that.

Sorry but anyone complaining about people criticising Waterfall for in his last two halves of football:

- Scoring an own goal
- Scoring the exact same own goal again
- Conceding a penalty
- Getting a straight red for deliberately denying a goalscoring opportunity

is completely off their heads. The lad is almost singlehandedly trying to sabotage our season. Yes, he's been solid in earlier games, and yes he scored an equaliser last week, but persistent incompetence to this degree, at the business end of the season is almost unforgivable. Would be starting Pearson in all the rest of our games this season as there's no way I can trust Waterfall again after this (and his performances last season too don't forget).

Bad communication .  Something to work on before the play off final.  UTM!  Waterfall has played his heart out for Town this season.  He's made last ditch game saving challenges, been dominant in the air and been a threat at set pieces, with a few goals to boot.  He's had a bad day at the office.  So what?

Yes, form and confidence are important matters when selecting a team. Waterfall has none of either and therefore shouldn't be selected going forward. You need to calm it with the insults just because other posters have a different opinion to your own.
Posted by: Maringer, May 7, 2022, 4:02pm; Reply: 95
Only ourselves to blame as we should have been a couple up before Waterfall got the chance to make his blunders. Accuracy of the final pass or cross when in some great positions just wasn't good enough and this is why we're just aiming to earn a play-off place instead of pushing for automatic promotion. Another sitter missed by Clifton as well. Gets into great positions through hard work then loses his head at the crucial moment.

Plus points? Erm, Fox is playing pretty well, I suppose.

If we end up losing today that will be 5 points lost at a time when we had a real chance of 5th place. So yes, his errors in the last two games will indeed have scuppered our chances of 5th given where we were.

Well we can write this match off. Probably would have been salvageable if Waterfall had just let his man go instead of hauling him down and getting sent off because they're absolutely male masturbation.

Or maybe share all the details you have that we don't?

Jeez, calm down mate, it’s only an opinion.

I am not there today but I was at Barnet and he gave away an absolutely stupid free kick which they scored from and then scored a ridiculous own goal which was about the only thing on target for them in the entire second half. Hard to conclude anything other than that he cost us points against a team we should have beaten easily.

If you don’t think he had cost us points on these games, that is your perogative, We will have to agree to disagree.

Odd game controlling most of it had by far more chances and situations and find ourselves 3 down

Getting to the playoffs is a good achievement especially after getting relegated but I can't see us progressing we haven't got that team yet.

That's the problem with applying our own state of mind to written text, we read things into it. Perfectly calm mate, cheers, not intended to wind anything or anyone up, just a question. I see your point, just dio not agree witrh your asssessment

Waterfall's last two performances aside, ultimately our biggest problem is that our attacking players don't score anything like enough goals. We need a better return from our strike-force if we want to win more consistently next season. We've not really properly spanked anyone since Dover at home near the start of the season, even though we mainly control matches, because we convert so few of the chances we create and don't have anyone with a poaching instinct inside the area.

Fair enough mate. I am really hurting by today’s events when I had such high hopes today so it’s very likely I am over reacting!

It's not all doom and gloom. Just watching Scunthorpe departing the football league and they are getting a really good tonking. Currently, 6-0 and TBH Scunthorpe are doing well to get none!

Amos has been poor today

Tell ye the truth mate non of them apart from Waterfall and the keeper,
Non of them were poor, every man in a Town shirt including Amos gave everything today, can't fault any of them.
Fox was the best player on the pitch.
The Ref was absolutely abysmal.
Even at 2 down if we had 11 players on the pitch we would have won the game.

Why was the ref absolutely abysmal cos he sent off Luke and gave us nothing?

Sounds like we took them for granted.

The players tried hard there is no doubting that, I thought Taylor had a poor game (he doesn’t do enough) I thought Fox was our best player, Amos and Holohan played well, too many errors today and not decisive enough, I thought Maidenhead were a poor team,

The club got it wrong with the inflatables theme crap . Just go out and win the football match , that alone will keep the fans happy . Perhaps I'm getting too old and behind the times ?

In a perverse way, I enjoyed that second half. Pearson winding up their No. 8 to try and get him sent off was great entertainment. Their third goal was about the only decent piece of football they managed all game and that really clinched it.

Lots of effort from our players but the usual litany of poor crosses when we got into a good position meant we couldn't get close enough to them for a grandstand finish.

Bit disappointed that Holohan disappeared in the second half and JMD was poor again (and he really needs to work his nuts off this summer to get properly fit).

Capitulating at home to a pub team is the proverbial kick up the bottom Town needed.  Will help re-focus for the job in hand on Tuesday and hopefully for the play offs.

Bad day at the office, but all is not bad. We are still in a play off spot needing 1 point from 2 games to secure it. I'm sure Daggers and BW fans would rather be in our place than theirs, not forgetting Chesterfield who seem to have imploded..

We move on to Tuesday needing that point.

Two minutes of madness cost us. The ref lost control and slowed the game down by constantly fussing over everything but allowing them to waste time. He also missed a blatant shirt pull on Taylor in the area in the first half. Had that been given it would have been very different.

Ye we would but that was down to the keeper and Waterfall we didn't have 11 on the pitch, the ref had no option, doesn't mean to say he was any good.
The ten +the subs could not have given more than they did.

Again in the first half, there was a coming together of players after the ref had already given a free kick, one of their players shoved Pearson in the chest sending him flying. Should have been a red card for violent conduct.

I'd love to know what the ref kept saying to Pearson because he went through a phase of having a long conversation with him at almost every stoppage.
