Amos injured? (Given the lack of defenders on the bench)

What did Hurst see in Coke on Saturday that we missed?... disappointed to see him in there if I'm honest, can't even say he's a safe pair of feet in the middle of the park, got loss written all over it ..

We've shipped Longe King out on loan, Amos is presumably injured and Efete definitely is. The only other recognised defender in the squad is Goundry who's completely untested. I presume we'd just play Clifton at full-back and move either Smith or Crookes over to cover if one of the two centre backs needs to go off. Any more than 1 defensive injury and it could get very interesting...

Would rather see Clifton at RB to be honest, not very confident with this one but will hold out hope. UTM you never know (even if sometimes you're pretty sure)

Surprised Clifton has not come back into the middle instead of Coke, seems the squad is now better placed for him to slot into his preferred position.

I think itā€™s a perfect case of damned if you do, damned if you donā€™t, but the attacking shape of that line-up makes me nervous away to this lot.

All things considered, Iā€™m struggling to see past a heavy Town defeat tonight but I hope Iā€™m very, very wrong.

ffs, why no Burgess or Raikhy, we have new players who are hopefully better than the midfield we have, and if they come on it wont be until after 66 minutes. I feel a big big meltdown tonight, hope i am proved wrong

I love this Town Bill, and I love the Club. I respect Paul Hurst and desperately hope he succeeds because if he does...we do. But then I read this forum. There is someone on here pretending to be a former director of the Club who isn't - but that doesn't stop members on here having a go at him even though he isn't the mythical director they seem to think he is. Then we have (and this REALLY boils my p*ss) the "members" (never was a term more appropriate) who cannot wait to log in and criticise. We all know who they are - they only log in when we lose! It is probably an example of the fickle nature of football...but it demoralises those who try to improve things. So sad.

It is a very sad indictment of this board when we win itā€™s pretty quiet, but when we lose itā€™s pages and pages of ā€œtold you soā€ and aggression.

The best thing that can happen is town get a result tonight. Our form is undoubtedly dreadful, especially away from home. I want Hurst to succeed, but Iā€™m starting to think the negative fans on here are getting their way.

If anything some overreact either way. We win one and our season is turned around, we'll get in the playoffs. We lose and the season is over and everyone needs to be gone from the club. One of the busiest forums around, certainly in this league. If we didn't care we wouldn't be here.

HT. We do OK defensively but seem to always have a mistake in us. The defence though is under constant pressure because we have nobody to hold the ball up front or in the middle of the park. Wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see the new lad. They have all the time in the world to set up attack after attack.
I like him (a lot) but Sousa is miles out of his depth tonight.

Interesting that Limbrick questions Taylorā€™s effectiveness .While I have loved watching him this year and it is a scarf cow not criticise him I am wondering if he is right and we are missing the obvious.

Just not mobile enough away from home. Easily nullified and fails to win the free kicks from huge defenders. A big part of the 'soft Town' narrative. Sounds like we are struggling to get Abrahams on the ball much and Crookes has continued his Halifax form.

Not there, so based on JT's commentary.

We've made schoolboy defensive errors throughout this season, LJL left to deal with Tshmanga at a set piece which ended up with a Chesterfield winner.

When you look at our form the points gap and the games played from the teams above us I don't think we've got a cat in hells chance of the play offs.

I agree with the long term building stuff as that in reality is the only option at the moment though I'm not sure PH is the man to take us forward for a season or two so we can make a serious tilt at promotion.

Waterfall loses the first header

Pearson fails to intercept and allows a shot

Smith's nowhere near the attacker and allows a second shot

Crookes isn't anywhere near his man and allows Palmer to turn and finish

The only player to come out of that with any credit is Crocombe, and he was still getting flack from some posters for it.

Halifax being exposed as very average again on BT.
Chesterfield wobbling and issues with manager .Wrexham despite big money spend stuttering week to week.I just donā€™t understand how we have ended up hoofing out half the team that started so well including not playing several of the before they went . Whatever went on in October around time of Wealdstone away when everything changed overnight remains a mystery to me

FFS, I know most of us had pretty low expectations tonight but we arenā€™t building or rebuilding anything under this management team. Three months ago, we were top and weā€™ve managed to win two games against teams near the bottom since.

Apologies to the people who are offended by facts like this but I was enjoying full grounds, decent football and a bit of on pitch success.

Sounds very much like we have had a one man attacking force in Mcatee......

Taylor, Abrahams, Sousa done virtually nothing, hardly mentioned.

Shape(s) have been ineffective from about 15 mins in but Hurst will no doubt point to a couple of half chances we have had that we havnt taken whereas their Ā£300k striker did.

Whilst it was only 1 goal Hurst will never truly chase a game for fear of conceding more, its his natural instinct which is coming more to the fore the longer this losing streak goes on. Fear of losing outweighing the desire to win.

Which was a silly fundamental mistake.

Never say never in football. It's not working however much they wish it so, and should have left their options open.

If it was as easy as keeping a manager in place come what may and offering him your full support, all clubs would do it wouldn't they?

Wealdstone is 5/1 to win here on Saturday. You heard it here first.
Couldn't believe Wrexham were 8/11 to win tonight. The bookies have fallen out with their money.

We blew our big chance how he missed that i'll never know but that's the differance at the moment we are losing every game by a single goal , can't win any tight games , honestly you make your own luck but we had 3 defenders layed asleep for palmers goal keeper takes no blame but back 4 as a unit all to blame

Its a total disgrace  . if these new owners are some of the best no wonder this country is in a mess,, When will they realise that to get ahead and do good you have to have a good product to sell , in this case a TEAM . Not expencive beer . or scotch eggs .. and we dont even need a different training ground ,, its all a smoke screen for a vanity project .. We need a team starting with a manager that knows what he is doing and players that can play  not kids from fancy play schools that dont know how to wipe there asses yet . New owners came in and gave everyone hope , but all they have done is get the decorators in , And all hurst has done is get kids in to replace kids and so far none of them are up to the job . All the defeats have been fine margins but crucially fine margins that have not gone our way. That is down to a lack being clinical and a lack of nastiness and win at all costs mentality. Bromley's behaviour at their place should have been enough to instill all of that in us, if only for those fans that got drunk wet through.

The fact that you scoff at community engagement shows exactly why the last fifteen years have been a struggle.

Are we really criticising the owners for trying to improve the match day experience by changing the catering and the drinks served?!? The only thing i can criticise them for is by seemingly sticking with Hurst with the run the team is currently on. I have no idea who could or would come in but the fact of the matter is he has to go, asap.

Corrected.

The crux of your point stands though. 8 points from a possible 36 (dropping 78% of those available) isnā€™t good enough for a club of GTFCā€™s stature (history doesnā€™t even have to come into it), particularly on whatā€™s now a relatively stable footing in terms of ownership and club management.

I get the need for stability and affording managers time in the interest of stability and the long-term picture, but sometimes the here and now just doesnā€™t support the argument. As Albert Einstein once said, ā€œInsanity - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different resultsā€.

I think if 2 wins in 14 games against non-league opposition becomes 2 in 15, we have a pretty untenable position. I just canā€™t see how anyone could argue otherwise (and as was pointed out the other day, I say that has someone who has Ā£20 riding on Hurst getting us up at some point in this tenure).

Oh shut up! Would you rather Fenty still be the chairman? Yes, Hurst needs to go and thatā€™s down to the new owners, but theyā€™ve given us more in the last 8 months than the last Chairman did in 20 years!

Agreed but itā€™s the small things such as changing the drinks, the food, the fanzone, the  fan engagement that led to the club having crowds of close to 6000 at the start of the season as opposed to perhaps 4000 instead. Letā€™s not forget we finished bottom of the league last season. Itā€™s amazing, even with the new owners that we managed to get the attendances that we did, hell the attendances are still pretty good, even with the rubbish run that weā€™re on.

Yes Fenty was a twit but what exactly have the new owners done in the past 8 months other than a new glass barrier, a new ticket system, a new badge and overseen the club drop to nearly it's lowest point in its history?

We'll never know how things would be had he stayed but I very much doubt it would have been better, and despite the current run I genuinely hold greater optimism for the future of our club under the new regime
They must be feeling the heat but lest we forget, 90% of the people on here were directing bile at Fenty no more than 12 months ago

Which was a silly fundamental mistake.

Never say never in football. It's not working however much they wish it so, and should have left their options open.

If it was as easy as keeping a manager in place come what may and offering him your full support, all clubs would do it wouldn't they?

In the good old days, the full support of the Chairman would have meant that the P45 had already been written.

Erm...................I think you will find that by my reckoning the fans, come the end of the season, will have put into GTFC over a million pounds and as far as I remember in an earlier interview by the chairman, at some time they would likely sell the club and want their investment back.

Not sure what you call a shitshow but 11 defeats in the last 14 games and languishing mid-table well off the pace in the National League is what I call a shitshow.

The fact that we've lost however many out of the past games, but still have a relatively healthy positive goal difference shows how narrow the margins continue to be. Pretty ridiculous that we're losing so many games by a single goal but never managing to nick an equaliser, even though a draw at the very least has been deserved.

Good teams find a way to win games when they don't play well. At present, we're finding ways to lose them when we're playing OK yet aren't managing to even nick a point when it is the least we deserve. DIdn't go tonight and I've only just looked at the Fishy to read the comments, but it sounds as though we weren't too bad yet again. Still no points, however.

Need a good run of results in the next month to get back on track. We're capable of it, but will it happen? Hope so.

Hurst get your finger out - spend some of the money the larger gates have brought in - be a bit more adventurous  and show if you can really do a managers job - drop your favorite players who are doing no good and try to sign somebody who can keep the crowds coming and save your job. Change the system FFS

I specifically said shitshow behind the scenes!...problem on here is people expect the mighty GTFC to smashing all opponents and storming this tin pot league .. well I'm afraid to say it ain't so tin pot anymore and GTFC ain't the force it used to be!..
Years or underinvestment and neglect are trying to be resolved and I have every faith in the new ownership to deliver a far better club that what they took over and if they at least get their money back then where's the issue?...
Yes, on field is a shitshow and far from acceptable and Hurst Is grinding my gears big style now but any money raised from extra gate receipts this season will only be one available next season when the new budget is set.
