All need a good 90 minutes under their belts ready for a chance to be picked for next Tuesday?

I hope the decision to start Wright today after making an impact for 20 minutes yesterday doesn't bite us on the backside.

Happy it's a strong team though because by the time Halifax away arrives next week those players will have gone at least 3.5 weeks without kicking a competitive ball.

Good result and 90 mins under the belt for several of them.

Did Max Wright play all game?

Grant with 2 goals and Bapaga also scoring - subs bench next week if fit?

Whatever the opposition strength, it still needs the ball going into the net !

6 goals - the players DO care !

Good game.. Walsall team was very young there goal was probably the pick of goals tbf 20 yarder into top corner Macca no chance..

We was too strong for them and as game went on could have been a lot more.

No involvement for Stokes so expecting we will get an announcement sometime this month saying he has left the club. Accept he was no world beater but a little surprised he hasn’t had any chances in any of our fixtures. PH must have seen enough in training to say that the lad just isn’t good enough.

Rollin Menayese signed for Walsall today for undisclosed fee after 25 games on loan.

Do you mean Spokes? He's on loan at Spennymoor

Walsall were very young and inexperienced, Most of them looked like they would need ID to get into a pub. They competed well for a while and scored the goal of the game after McAtee played a terrible blind pass inside, straight to their No 10 who curled a lovely shot over Macca and into the top corner. Macca later in the game also played a terrible ball straight to another of their players but he contrived to hit the post with the goal gaping.

As the game wore on we got more and more on top, which was understandable and the chances were coming frequently. Max had two absolute sitters and missed them both. The first he skewed well wide and the second, he completely failed to connect with the ball from 2 yards out.

Grant probably had the most chances overall, but he missed most of them. Doesn't look a clinical finisher to me and the two he did score were a bit fortuitous, especially the second. I've not seen him play before, so it's hard to judge whether he was at full tilt or not, but he is bigger than I thought he was and has a languid style. Hard to judge whether he is ready for a start.

Max got about an hour but didn't tear up any trees and looked to be playing within himself.

McAtee was running around like he always does, doing some great things and some not so great but is definitely fit and raring to go I would say.

Scannell looked very good, albeit against not very tough opposition. Him and McAtee were linking up to great effect, especially in the second half and were carving their way through almost at will with one two's and clever passes. Scannell played the full 90 and looked ready to play some part on a match day I would say.

Wright, Grant and McAtee were all brought off together and they came back into a bit more with us having more youth players brought into the game.

Of the others, I thought Jaz Goundry looked very good. Good strong defending, good in the air and played some excellent balls out of defence. He's also left footed which will work in his favour, but he doesn't look the most athletic of players. He's a bit awkward looking at times and doesn't seem to be blessed with good pace and graceful movement, but seems to have a footballing brain to compensate. Hard to judge whether he can make the step up to the first team, but on todays showing he has a chance.

Tomlinson looked lively and was brought down for the penalty, which he took himself. Not sure of the names of all the others but they all looked pretty decent against opposition of about the same standard and experience as them.

Two enjoyable games in two days. Good to be back.
