Tondeur has Tweeted Increasing covid Numbers in the squad.

Just have to see what team we can put out and go from there

Grimsby Town: Crocombe; Sears, Longe-King, Towler, Crookes; Scannell, Hunt, Fox, Revan; John-Lewis, Bell.

Substitutes: McKeown, Grant, Wright, Braithwaite.

GTFC only able to name four substitutes today.

4 on the bench 1 keeper, 2 who id assume are nowhere near fit and a YT

Starting 11 isnt as weak as i expected, seems like 4-4-2

But no Bapaga who surely cant have Covid again?

It's not worth opening the red wine for this match, never mind the Guinness.

Best sound will be the final whistle, a victory or not is immaterial. The only reason we didn't withdraw, I presume, is so that it's another McAtee game gone.

Never had any interest in the trophy. Still don’t. Just hoping that those who play recover form, confidence, fitness. Grant should be given 45 mins for me. Couldn’t give a toss about the score, and I’d like to see Stockport have enough players sent off to see it abandoned.

A lot of players go downhill when they come here. Don't know why but they either get injured in training or lose their flair. Is it the  none playing members of GTFC who cause this with pisspoor tactics, team selections and players playing out of position. Can’t say I’m surprised to be trailing by 2. As soon as I saw their lineup with the likes of Sarcevic, Madden etc I knew we didn’t have a chance. Especially seen as we can’t even name a full squad.

Can’t say I’m bothered. Getting out this competition would be a blessing, especially given covid cases rising and inevitable fixture pile ups.
Posted by: Northbank Mariner, December 18, 2021, 4:02pm; Reply: 79
Regardless of the competition or the fact the squad has been decimated, there's still 11 professional players on that pitch, some with experience well above this league, yet we sound awful.
Our poor run and lack of cohesion has 1 common denominator, Hurst!.
Any manger, at any level would be either shown the door after a run of losing 8 out of 9.
Is it time to sack Hurst and give another manager the January window to turn is around!??..there's only 1 name that springs straight to mind and that's Anthony Limbrick, is he capable of turning this shitshow around, right now I'm bit sure pep could!!..
Posted by: DB, December 18, 2021, 4:03pm; Reply: 80
Hurst does have problems with staff, 4 subs. One's a youth, one's a keeper and 2 haven't played for yonks. I'm not defending Hurst because the team are playing as he set it up. Let's not forget sick note has started his first game this year and theirs only 13 days of the year left!

Hurst out, not yet but we need a lot of improvement and quick.

In fairness, based on today’s respective lineups their side is far superior to ours on paper. I don’t think it should come as any major surprise we’re being comfortably beaten.

It’s more a case of how this tots up on top of 8 defeats in 9 in the run-up. However you spin it, 9 defeats out of 10 isn’t a good look, and you can’t deny that Hurst’s managerial career is hanging in the balance.

I said the same a month ago. It's inconceivable that our form has taken this turn unless the players have downed tools for some reason. If it was one bad apple Hurst would have dealt with it so it has to be much more than that

It isn't, but I'm only at the 8 defeats out of 9 personally. The circumstances surrounding this one means its completely chalked off for me, and doesn't count towards the wider context.

The wider context is still, however, not good enough and very concerning.

Something amiss in the camp, it seems nobody wants to play for the management, 12 games in and we were sure champions in our mind. Even Hurstys interview on this game was so depressing, but we,ll never know . Meltdown on here later i guess, but does seem strange that our gameplay has ceased

Crumbling like a rich tea biscuit...

The worst part of this is the way our shower of sh1te is rolling over to that thug's (Dave Challinor) side.  For the younger viewers I refer to his fookin disgraceful challenge against the extremely talented Swedish striker Martin Pringle on 26th Feb 2002, which effectively ended his career.

From hero to zero in 10 games. You are only as good as your last 6 matches and we could not be worse.
Boreham Wood and Halifax must be licking their lips at the prospect of 3 easy points.
King Lynn won't be too worried either.

In fairness, as bad as this is, Hurst isn’t getting sacked on the back of an FA Trophy game with a Covid-hit squad. A similar result on Tuesday however, and you have to start asking the question.

I would say results obviously matter, only a fool would say they don't, but to improve the infrastructure of the club and match day experience was a must.
What I would say is that without the improvements at BP we wouldn't have the huge resurgence of the fans
As for improvements at cheapside, those too were essential and should filter down to improved performances and hopefully attract a better calibre of player.

But it wasn't Hurst that took us down...

I don't understand why we played this game. Clearly we have a covid card to get out of it. I know it gets 1 game of McAtee's ban, but surely we now have to play on Tuesday with a decimated squad and the break would have bought us some time.

I don't think anyone really has an issue with losing today, it's the fact that we are getting increasingly uncompetitive as every game goes on. The first couple of defeats were close games that didn't go our way, then we started to deserve to lose games, now we are getting completely outplayed. Confidence has plummeted, in the squad and in the stands. Probably in the boardroom too.

What Hurst needs to do is get all the fit lads giving a positive test to get all games postponed until the new year.

Then spend some bloody money and get some decent players in that want to play for him.

The chairman will not sack him until the end of the season at the earliest so let's hope he can turns things round with a few new players.

If not the gates will drop below 3,000 and we will be back to having no money and scraping the barrel for players again.

Merry Christmas everybody I am off to lock myself in a dark room where I can not get any football or cricket scores until the new year.

Attendances may drop below 3,000 but season tickets are far more than this so the revenue is already in. Only match day sales may be less which still could be 1,000 +

Kind of irrelevant what season ticket sales are this season. We had a slight increase after the board room change and a big increase with the start we had. That's all meaningless if we're back to 4k gates next season.

Completely disagree. Manager responsible up to a point. You cannot give the players no criticism on this. They’ve shown themselves to be weak

but the manager signed these players. So who is to blame for choosing the weak players?

Look what Boston Utd  have done to Kidderminster , puts in perspective our position at present. :-/ :'(

Boston lost to Kidderminster last week in the league. Keith Lowe was an absolute donkey for Kidderminster yesterday but Boston are well organised.

I'm still willing to give Hurst a bit more time to sort this mess out but Craig Elliott is someone I think deserves the opportunity to test himself at the next level.

Good to hear that Crofty singled out an industrious Sean Scannell for some praise on Saturday..
