Just tuned into BBC radio 5 for their one hour program about the National Football League

Yes that’s the British Broadcasting Corporation
Or used to be. Remember the one we pay or Licence fee of over £150 to get British news and entertainment

I don’t like their WOKE stuff or bias but hopefully we would learn about Wrexham latest money fiascos. But no

Turns out it’s about the American equivalent of rugby league

What can we do to stop our almost 100 year old broadcasting company destroying itself before the electorate declares it irrelevant

You weren’t honestly expecting to hear an hour’s preview of the fifth tier of English football, were you? What is it about the middle aged and older using the word “Woke” as well?

For what it’s worth, I love the NFL! Been watching it since about 1984. However, it doesn’t really matter to me. It’s crazy how GTFC takes a grip on us. I vowed to not go this season, but as Michael Corleone said, “they pulled me back in!”.

I haven’t seen material like this since that Ciba-Geigy kit gave me jogger’s nipple.

More people in this country watch the NFL on TV than watch the National League.

The BBC have a deal to show NFL on TV too. So it’s hardly surprising they have a show on 5 Live to compliment their TV output.

You might be an inward looking misery guts only interested in what goes on in the UK, but the majority in this country are NOT xenophobic to the point of dismissing anything and everything else in the world.

If you think the BBC should have a British bias you clearly have no comprehension about what the BBC is and what their remit is.

And anyone who throws “Woke” around as an insult is a numpty.

Ah yes, Woke. Whereas once, the miserable, conservative leaning old farts used to call folk ‘liberal’ like it was some sort of insult, they’ve learned a new word…

It’s odd isn’t it, I hear middle aged folk use the word, mostly incorrectly, more than anyone else…anyone would think they’re obsessed or something.

Anyway, I’d put the spliff down and give yourself a break…

You're so right Ilkley. Even worse, a few months ago they had programmes on all month about some bicycle race in FRANCE! And that's when they failed to report on any of the important polo and croquet tournaments taking place in dear old Blighty.disgraceful

I think most of them use it to describe things they can’t get their head round. It’s wide ranging word covering everything from not understanding people’s wishes for racial equality to radio programmes not being the subject matter that you *think* they are.

It wasn't even football in the first place thanks to the loony lefties at the Beeb.

Blame the BBC for adults not being able to read.

Of course those who love American sport are entitled to enjoy it, but I have no interest in it at all; and i would think that applies to the large majority of people. What annoys me is, how many questions on the Chase, Tipping Point etc, are on American sport.  :-/

I think there is a sizeable minority that have some interest in at least one American sport. I've been following and watching the NFL since 1982 and the MLB (Baseball) since 1998. Both these sports have regular season games in the UK and sell out large stadiums. I like to watch the NHL (Ice Hockey) when I see it's on telly but I'm not an avid follower and I can't stand the NBA (Basketball). I know there are number of posters on here who enjoy American sports.

Quiz shows put some niche questions in to catch people out and prevent them winning the prizes. Them bloody wokes again.

Is it really too much to just have an old fashioned English quiz, with English people and all questions exclusively about things that have happened in England? I watched Pointless the other day and they had a question about American Presidents FFS!

Give over Rodley! Did they really?! It’s political correctness gone mad. Bloody woke brigade. They’ve banned Christmas…..etc…

The BBC have been all down hill since Kevin Clifton left Strictly.

You hardly ever see proper ballroom dances any more. The couples choice option just gives another chance to wave arms and legs around out of hold. When was the last time you saw proper Foxtrot? And then we have that wailing German judge who just says "inergy" every other word. Len and Darcy spoke about proper dance technique in their assessments. More evidence of dumbing down to make it more "accessible"...

This is all highly amusing and witty.
But it’s NON-FOOTY. There is a section for all you right wing racist homophobes to trade insults with the libtard lefty WOKE’s.
It’s called NON FOOTY.

To be fair it started as halfarsed footy and has just degenerated into feckarse

Ridiculous idea having a radio programme on it.
I mean who would even attend such an event if it was hosted here?
Wembley sold out for years for NFL and similarly baseball I seem to recall?

They had baseball games at Blundell Park during the early part of the 20th century as well. Not quite sure how that would work out, but it happened.
