Team news been out for a while so I'll do it   :)

Grimsby Town: McKeown, Efete, Pearson, Waterfall (c), Crookes, Clifton, Hunt, Fox, Sousa, Bell, Taylor.

Substitutes: Towler, Revan, Coke, Bapaga, McAtee.

Just said on twitter, pleased to see Coke dropped, hopefully with this midfield we'll move the ball quicker and sharper.
Interesting to see how Bell does.

Solihull's ground is absolutely male masturbation. Middle of nowhere and the only food in the away end is a cash only burger van. Can't wait to go home.

Nah, Hunt will play the deeper of the three with Fox and Clifton doing the closing and linking with the forward

Not withstanding the fact that young Bell is a bit of an unknown quantity, I think this is the best we’ve lined up in a few weeks. Certainly our best midfield 3 in my opinion, and hopefully Bell gives us something for Taylor to play-off.

Then the bench has something for every scenario as the game plays on. A very tricky game this no doubt, one of our trickiest yet, but I’m confident we can get something from this - I’d take a point at this stage.

I have to take a work video call at 9:30 however, so it would be much appreciated if we could have ourselves at least 3 goals to the good by about 9:25. That’s not asking for too much, is it?

Sousa may as well be playing for them. Keeps giving the ball away or running it out when in possession and hasn't been tracking back at all which is what allowed the start of the move they scored from.

Thank you for the brief comment on the goal, quite concerning as there has been too many times we have looked sloppy defensively, even in games we havent conceded we have still looked rather suspect imo.

Hunt has been tidy in midfield, Fox keeps misplacing passes. Bell looks like a player who has only had one training session and isn't fully sure what his role is. Has some decent pace on him though.

McAtee, fitness permitting, and Bapaga seem the obvious choices. Along with Taylor, those two have probably given us more on terms of ‘end product’ than anyone this season.

A goal for Town early in the second half changes the game.

Terrible first half performance. Looked clueless in final third and have only threatened from corners (and even with those Hunt has floated his last two straight into their keeper's arms). Clifton and Sousa have been offering nothing on the wings. Crookes is looking uncomfortable and they're having a lot of success when they do attack down our left. We've had most of the possession though, just haven't done anything at all with it. Taylor's trying his best but isn't really getting any service, and Bell looks a bit lost and hasn't really impacted the game at all yet. Think we need to get Bapaga or McAtee on asap.

McAtee played between MF and attack, creating a lot already, others now sounding more prominent as a result

Grovesy thinks the ref needs to book them for time wasting

Macca is just Macca, great "shot stopping", odd silly mistake, doesn't command his area (and won't start now)

I'm starting to think the odd "point blank" save is less valuable that commanding the area to give the defence confidence, so give Crocombe a go (his distribution may be better too)

Pffft. Stop the trolling.

The surprising thing is that we all expected a slow start with the injuries we had and then hoped the team would become stronger as it gelled. What actually occurred is that we started playing well off the bat, but we've gone downhill since.

The most surprising thing is that, in some games, we've looked great and really solid at the back, but in others we've coughed up soft goals from nowhere. Obviously different opposition cause different problems, but too many teams aren't having to do much to score against us.

We won’t get promoted with this manager and some of his selections. Towler dropped to accommodate Pearson is frankly nuts. Please don’t say he was any better than Towler would have been because Southend were toothless. Tonight, all the Solihull attacks were towards the channel between Pearson and Crookes. So we had McAtee and Taylor on for the main part of the second half they failed, as did Macca. There's not a lot of difference in the selection that were knocking in goals only a few weeks ago.

I wonder if it's complacency that has come into the camp. Most of the players were new to the club and had points to make, Hunt for example. They've now 'settled in' and proved their point but no longer appear to have the motivation to carry on in the same vein.

What worries me is these long spells we go on when we just cannot score, or even look like scoring. It seems to happen at some stage every season. Some seasons are worse than others but we always seem to stall at some point.

Our recent form has gone from title winning to relegation and away Tuesday night games are just a dead loss.

This run of tough games has started with a defeat and they aren't even up there like the upcoming opposition.

Still hopeful of a relatively successful season, with a play off spot. Top three looking increasingly distant.

Thing is on the one hand at the start of the season i knew we needed a big turnover of players, I knew the league would be tough, and I knew this season would just be about building the foundations of a good squad

However the way its panned out had me dreaming of big things, and then the last few games just reminded me what grated me about hurst the first time round, just teams of likeable grafters without clear attacking tactics relying on us eventually signing a 30 goal striker and a creative wizard who now plies his trade in league one

So, what your basically saying is the management team are useless?...it's up to Hurst, Doig et Al to get the players motivated and up for the game.
There's something just not clicking that was earlier in the season, we tore Wrexham a new one, came fighting back against Barnet, ripped holes through Dover...
This team hasn't lost the plot over night, could it be we are a bit one dimensional and we've been sussed and Hurst hasn't got a plan B, C or D?... whatever it is it has to change and change quick, get a good win Saturday and the gardens coming up roses, lose and the knives will be Hurst back that's for sure

Hey come on everyone stop panicking. We’ve got a great new civic pride, our community is now really engaged, the scotch eggs are amazing, our Chairman writes in the Guardian, and a new CEO who loves the limelight and is really photogenic.

So it’s time to start looking at the new owners is it?

I wondered how long that would take.

Hey come on everyone stop panicking. We’ve got a great new civic pride, our community is now really engaged, the scotch eggs are amazing, our Chairman writes in the Guardian, and a new CEO who loves the limelight and is really photogenic.

With all of that, the football is secondary and we should be counting ourselves lucky

Yeah, bring back JF. It was so much better under him.

Cheers SLM, was really wanting say something positive like "we have a corner..., Waterfall buries it with a bullet header from 12 yards" :), but that doesn't seem to happen anymore at the minute, I do think Teams have sussed us now, we need a plan "B", or be better at plan "A" at least

We managed to ensure that Solihull were the only team in the top 7 or 8 teams to win tonight. Other results went our way but we missed a golden opportunity to move away from many teams.

I agree with you, Hurst has only plan A, never subs at half time only after 60 mins or so. Khouri and Revan were good examples in the last game as was Soussa tonight.

Been following football for 50 years. Never known such an extreme situation where players returning from injury need to train for weeks (months in case of Grant and Scannel ) before they are able to cope with more then 20 mins off the bench

Well it’s absolutely ridiculous the amount of expectation some on here place on this football club.

You can spray glitz and glamour as much as you like around the periphery, it’s doesn’t change a thing. Ultimately we are still a very small and struggling football club, in a whole different football world to what it was when we used to punch above our weight.

The agony of that different football world will remain with us. So people need to start accepting what we are now isn’t what we used to be. No matter who owns us.

Can spend all you like, it doesn’t guarantee success.

During our time in recent years in L2 and NL, we have always had highly competitive budgets, but that hasn’t been the be all and end all.

Have a look at the teams that do succeed that don’t have the biggest budgets over those years.

Spend spend spend all you like. Money alone does not guarantee success

Money in the bank and we got relegated out of the FL for the second time in a few years , perhaps someone should have told the previous regime to get decent players you have to buy them and pay the going rate for wages

We don’t need prominent CEO’s all over Twitter hogging the limelight. Your CEO should sit quietly and efficiently in the background, doing executive work.

The PR department is more than capable of communicating with the public, and getting out there what’s needed. Which is essentially any important info regarding developments, plus football stuff that we want to read.

I’m not fooled one iota by all of this look at me CEO stuff. It’s narcissistic and isn’t required. Just get on with doing your CEO work.

I’ll ask you a question. If the poor run of form continues and the shine of the takeover and early season promise diminishes, then how do you think the fan base is going to respond to all the glitz and glamour look at me Tweeting then?

I'd agree the formula is the same as it's ever been, it just costs a lot more now versus the in come clubs get.

Watched the thing about Mac on i-player the other night and it was excellent, but even at what I think is tier 8 they have had to spend a lot of money to compete and some of the players they have signed have agents who wanted some really silly stuff.

For what it's worth, I agree that the odds of us ever playing in the 2nd tier again (Championship now) are 1000/1 at least, but I do feel we could be a decent league 1 side at some point in the future, and if I didn't believe that after nearly 50 years supporting the Team then I would probably call it a day.

Now I don't actually know whether or not you are / were close to the previous regime, but your earlier cynical, sarcastic and gloating post suggests you may've been.

Whether PH can get us out of this league now or in the next few years is anyone's guess, but I am sure we wouldn't have been in this position if the previous regime (including the Manager) hadn't banked on last season not kicking off or being abandoned quickly due to COVID, and treating that as an opportunity to spend virtually nothing on maintaining a decent playing squad, and even letting the pitch go to ruin!

A chairman or principle funder as he became known should sit quietly and efficiently in the background too then rather than posting red wine fuelled statements, telling fans a former manager was a fruit loop, rounding up on a journalist at a fans forum and inviting his criminal friends to invest money in the club.

Whilst we are talking about managers of an organisation, stadium managers shouldn't treat fans like scum either.

I'm sure it probably does but 500 is about 17% of our season ticket holder number so maybe not as miniscule as you think. Also it's how many exiles keep in touch with what's going on so it is a useful channel to promote the club despite what people think.

You also forgot to mention the fans who listen on the radio. 500 fans on social media who spend £30/50 or more with the club suddenly bring in an income of £25k or more. Not to be sniffed at in this day and age shouldn't be belittled.

We are a blooming football club, not a social network love-in

I’m sure you have strong feelings and feel very passionately about the points you make. However, your timing stinks. If you believe you possess any of the qualities you refer to in your first paragraph, you wouldn’t chose a moment like tonight to make them.

You do yourself no favours by seemingly taking satisfaction from a bad night on the field to rubbish the positive changes that the club is undertaking. You simply come across as a bitter individual, with poor judgement.

Relax Fillipe, we're still 3rd in the table and only 4pts off the top.

No she hasn’t. The excitement of new owners has done that, combined with the early season results

That will soon slip away if the bad form continues.

Anyway, the club gives away about 500 tickets a game anyway.

I do agree though that carry on like this and the optimism and increased crowds will have been a flash in the pan

You are right and I have no problem with that. And that’s exactly where all of the focus should be. On the football.

No Hagrid, I’ve never actually met the woman. But it strikes me that she’s breezed in here all celebrity like, and it seems to me that she’s loving every minute of that far too much.

We don’t need people like that on board. We know what happened last time we had a ten bob celeb in the club. It was all me me me.

I’ve got no problem with Jason and Andrew being the focus quite often. After all, they’ve put their money where their mouths are and have brought something to the table. And so they should be featured, and let’s face it, publicly accountable.

On the other hand Borehamwood average gate 600 whose high end clash with Notts County tonight attracted a staggering 821 who sold there star player to Chesterfield and whose chairman at the start of the season said we are surviving hand to mouth don’t expect us to be in the top 10  this year don’t seem to be doing bad with the old formula.

She needs to get on with being an executive of the club.

She should be too busy to tweeting and doing photo shoots.

Roy Keane had it right. sodomist off and do your admin for us, and stop riding on our back. This is a football club not the Xfactor

Oh right, I see, she uses Twitter, so the whole squad suddenly go into decline. Grow up.

This season .  But he did nothing last season with half the season to go  . And ifi rememberrightly most on here said if we arenot chalenging for promotion by xmas he should go.. to be honest the only thing we are challenging at the moment is for the places below us

Well then if you’re talking about the good side this season, that should be to Hurst’s credit!

And you don’t remember rightly either. Only a couple of people said if we’re not challenging for promotion by Christmas Hurdt should go. One of them was probably you.

Wondered which pile of manure you’ve been hiding under. The air’s been fresher since you’ve been away.

You can go forth and multiply again.

We’re still 3rd and 4 points off top . Ball cleared off the line at 1-0 . Would’ve been a decent point away from home against a good team regardless of the size of opposition in our eyes .
We’re going through a sticky patch but have got the players to stay in the top seven , the budget to add to the squad in January so it’s really not looking as bad as it’s being made out isn’t it ?

How long do you think that is going to last ? Anyway I suggest the early season form might have had something to do with that rather than the better catering, glass screen on the Youngs Upper and the nicey nicey approach of the new (not really football people) owners
A fan zone is not going to pack 'em in in January and February if the team is mid table

Old Noche certainly knows how and when to poke the hornets nest. I suggest everyone ignores the relic.

We've lost some footy matches; it happens.

Short term blip in a long term re-build, or more serious signs of getting it wrong? The answer to that will become apparent over the next couple of months.

For me, the object this season was top 7, hopefully top 3 and winning the league was a long shot. We are still in the mix and PH has to find a way to win matches again. If he doesn't or can't, then have an inquest, but I suspect it will be a bumpy ride until January.

It's quite feasible we won't see another win for a while judging by current form and the standard of the upcoming opposition. Or we may just be surprised- that's the beauty of football.

There's always the next game.

Enormous whiff of misogyny coming from Dinosaur Phil in here. Takes about 30 seconds to write a tweet you massive duffer - most successful business people are capable of squeezing the odd one in here and there without it negatively impacting on their other responsibilities.

Putting Phil's weird obsession aside for a second, Debbie is objectively doing well - the letter she sent to season ticket holders the other week contained loads of promising updates on work the club has been doing, and was a million times better written than anything Fenty shat out during his time at the helm.

Went last night
Box to box I thought we were very good - but it counts for nothing
In and around their box we were tepid, tippy-tappy, poor final ball, poor final cross, not clinical
Where has the confidence gone?
It's not as though it was on the back of a hammering - warning signs v Yeovil IMO...we won but it wasn't great

Standouts IMO were Efete and Hunt; Fox and Clifton had much better 2nd halves

You will get no argument from me on that but it's results that matter most (to me and I'm sure most fans) and three points every week is the only way guaranteed to keep the turnstiles ticking at the levels achieved so far this season (however good the Scotch eggs are)
