I thought owners had to pass proper governance tests these days, or was he missed?

I look forward to Grimsby Town passing Fleetwood Town on the way up.
Nevertheless, both Towns famous for fishing (one of Grimsbys vessels was on show at Fleetwoods Freeport ) - good luck to their fans

8 years investigation seems a long time. I wonder how many laws were broken whilst the investigation was going on.

If it isn’t already, employing Joey Barton should be a crime.

Doubt the north west counties league has such things

I can see gathering the evidence for a case like this would have been time consuming. A lot if it would have come from employees placed in a very difficult situation/bullied and reluctant to come forward as they might have been deemed to have committed crimes too.

I suspect Fleetwood will now plummet as quickly as they arose - from nowhere.

Gotta see if the case is proved first.

Time will tell. To be fair I expected this of Crawley when their benefactor Bruce Winfield passed away, much as things very quickly unravelled for Gretna when the same happened to them; however they've managed to stabilise at League Two level with non-league-esque crowds.

Fleetwood's crowds are actually not far off 4,000 this season, though two of their three home games have been against Pompey and Sunderland who will have sold out their away allocation. That would drop considerably if they went down to League Two where we know visitor followings are often poor for northern, coastal towns.

I think most Bristol Rovers fans would agree with you.
