I think I'm getting a nosebleed with all this positivity going on from the top down.

I wonder why the previous encumbants never did anything like this in months/years gone by?

But when did pride and community spirit ever win the club 3 points on a Saturday?

When the crowd have a massive amount of pride in their team and show that from the stands, urging their team on..................thats when!

If that is meant as a joke then fine. If it was a serious comment (and I suspect it was) then momentum and optimism from the club surely has to be a start. If that transmits to the fans and as a result we sell more tickets then even better. If more people then attend the games and cheer and support the team that could indeed bring us 3 points on a Saturday, and therefore there could then be momentum on the pitch too. I admit it’s all ifs and buts but surely it’s better than saying and doing nothing like the last regime tended to do.

We hope the positivity transfers itself onto the playing side don’t we? If the previous regime had used one iota of common sense it would have seen that you have to break the cycle of depression and decline somewhere and that is what the new owners are doing. A helpful byproduct is cash is coming into the club along with new life.

I've just watched the new CEO being interviewed and you can see how chuffed she is with the job.

I'm actually looking forward to the fixtures being published.

What is wrong with me.......

The whole "when did xyz get you three points on a Saturday" is obviously a joke, based on Fenty's classic line about a strength and conditioning coach. People say it all teh time on here, lighten up guys  ;D

He was making fun of the fact Fenty (think it was him) once said "when did a fitness coach ever win us 3 points on a Saturday".

Essentially "when did XYZ ever win us 3 points on a Saturday?" is now a bit of a GTFC meme, depicting the ridiculous nature of penny pinching of the previous regime.

Rich's posts are some of the best on this forum. His comment is definitely a joke.

Positivity breeds positivity. I look forward to seeing how the board deal with the first bump in the road. It will be refreshing not to be blamed anyway.

Yes, it was definitely tongue in cheek.

If you close your eyes.

Properly, no peeping, you can taste the sarcasm.

Erm…I don’t want to speak for Rich but I think that was patently a joke; a take on a popular Fentyism (I forget it’s origin, but I think he was believed to have told Hurst that an analyst wouldn’t earn the club three points on a Saturday).

Of course, there is a serious point that helping old ladies cross the road doesn’t directly win you games, however doing the right things and running the club the right way will in my opinion translate into tangible, on-field success somewhere down the line (hopefully not too far).

It certainly does.

Rumour has it RichMariner was on the caviar blini last night, washed down with Chateau Latour 1878. So you’re probably tasting lingering ovarian fishiness, spicy eucalyptus and a long, long finish (longer than Schick’s finish even).

Not treating your fans with contempt and having a feel good factor around the place.

Might not get you 3points but it all helps a happy ship  is more likely to do well than a one that is constantly at each other throats.

It was far from amusing last season to hear about Holloway's "vastly superior training runs and players' fitness", when the team ran out of steam after around an hour in most cases !

A proper pre season with mixed level opponents will set up the new team better than last year's fiasco !

How we were all taken in by the managing pundit !!

I really want to know what this industry leading run consisted of because like you say, it didn't translate into match fitness.

Lot's of activity down at BP today. Stuff going on all over. Some filming going on at the fanzone which will be worth a watch when it's uploaded.

They were still hard at it when I left at 4.

No offence to anyone who teaches year 8 PE but it really did sound like something we used to do back then. It also strikes me that we were likely to pick the guy who could do a hundred keepy uppies but couldn’t pass a ball straight to a player 5 yards away.

Agreed.

Judging by the red crosses, it looks like his whole family is lurking on here tonight.
