To be played at Ashton Gate.

What a sh1te venue, especially if Hartlepool make it.

Surely they could have found somewhere better.

But surely it’s contracted to Wembley and can’t be changed.
Oh. Maybe it can if Wembley aren’t on an earner.
It’s all bollox nowadays

Probably more to do with the NL not being in a position to play it until mid-June  when the Euros will be in full swing.

90% of the time they don’t need anywhere as big as Wembley anyway.

It's more the fact it could be the players only opportunity to play at Wembley etc.

It’s only recently been played at Wembley...there was a Hereford fan at Uni, they played their final at Stoke I think...

If their league hadn’t made such a gigantic balls up of running things then they’d have got their Wembley trip. Instead it’s massively overrun into the Euros.

I also noticed the semis are on the same day as England’s opening game, terrific planning as per.

I get that they had to shift away from Wembley because of the Euros but surely they could have come up with a better venue in a more central location.

Wouldn't be happy if I were a Pooley and we made it to the final and we were playing Torquay.

Aye, Wembley was being built when the NL playoffs started (2003 I think).

MK Dons would've been a better shout.

With Wembley unavailable and given it’s in mid-June and most football stadiums will be getting re-laid or prepared for the new season the only real choices are stadium that also host Rugby as League is a summer sport & union’s season ends in late June.

So the possible options were probably Bristol, Brentford, Hull & Wigan. Whilst Bristol looks the worst option the others might have said no.

The season hasn’t overrun. It was always their plan for the regular season to run until May 29th and the playoffs to follow on from that.

The finals at Stoke & Leicester were before the new Wembley opened. Since then all the finals have been at Wembley.

Actually I think the 2011 final was played at the Etihad because of the UCL Final being at Wembley.

WTF...

The second Play-off SF (3rd v 4th/7th) is on Sunday 13th June at 12PM.

England’s first game at Euro 2020 is on the same day at 2PM. What a ridiculous time for the NL & BT Sport to choose.

There was a time when only the players in the FA Cup and League Cup finals played at Wembley. It’s become a bit of a debased currency.

We’d expect nothing else...like when the football have umpteen free Tuesday nights but choose to put a programme of fixtures on a champions league night.

Cheers for the info Regarding the final, I figured it was Becauee Wembley was being built but wasn’t sure...you’re never quite sure with the conference...

Hartlepool to Wembley is 256 miles.
Hartlepool to Ashton Gate is 275 miles.

In footballing terms I think it’s known as ‘devaluing the product’ 😉

Plenty of suitable grounds in the Midlands, central for travel.

100% of the time. Our game against Bristol Rovers in 2015 remains the highest non-league attendance of all time with Wembley a fraction over 50% capacity. I still think it’s the best venue for it though - it’s not what it used to be but there’s still something special about walking up Wembley Way.

Don’t like semi-finals being played there though - finals and internationals only for me.

As a fan, do you care where it is? The result is everything!

Possibly so, and getting promoted at ploggers would’ve been as mega as Wembley but I know which is the better day out...

I would’ve sooner played our PO finals somewhere like Villa Park, Anfield or Hillsborough than Wembley. Even with 15-20k of us in there, it felt like we were rattling about the place.

Incorrect.

The 2007 FA Trophy Final between Kidderminster Harriers & Stevenage Borough had an attendance of 53,262. Seems a lot, but it was the first club match played at the new Wembley.

Right you are sir. The Bristol Rovers game was the highest Conference attendance, and I had assumed that was the biggest in non-league.

Isn't the Tuesday night thing to do with uefa, absolutely bloody ridiculous they want all levels of matches played by the same calendar. Must cost league 1 and 2 level clubs a significant amount of lost revenue having to compete against televised champions league matches instead of being able to play on different nights.

That is shocking even for the NL! Why would you do that?
