Probably the most attacking starting 11 we've sen all season, says it all, Hurst is going for it and knows he has to...plus, very crafty keeping Barrow in the dark about Hanson!!

3 strikers - echoes of Braintree.

Williams obviously didn't do enough on Saturday to earn a start.

Didn't know Hurst had it in him to play 3 strikers outside of us already being 2 nil down insaide of 80mins  ;D ;D Hope we can batter them, but I see a game of them defending deep, us not really creating anything and them pinching it on the counter

Hurst said on Saturday that he thought he'd done well out there, after he'd replaced Ira on the RHS. Didn't see it myself, apart from him starting a running battle with their left back

Sh1t or bust. All 3 of our strikers up top and risking it with Hanson.
Don't mind Rose coming back in either as Coke generally passes 5 yards sideways.
Expecting us to be very direct without any wingers and don't care how we do it as long as we win

Not bothered how or who scores it has to be a win, even if it's Macca from a last minute corner.

It's quite obvious Hurst doesn't rate Williams.

I fully expect him and Scannell will depart in the summer despite them both being under contract still.

After that 45, if anyone wanted to know how bad we’ve been all year...this barrow side have been winning games.

I’m sure I’ll end up eating my words but other than Town, Barrow are the worst side I’ve seen this season.

Two poor sides in a very poor game. Not arsed if we get a result but you’d struggle to convince someone to tune in again...

Well, we are trying...very bloody trying!..awful game to watch, Barrow are just trying to spoil the game, no need for a midfield, everything is just flying over their heads...
Hoping playing against the wind we'll keep the ball down and play through Barrow, get Williams on for Payne and I honestly believe Barrow are there for the taking.

Quality is unimportant at this stage. Keep having a go. Sooner or later one of them will go in.
Posted by: moosey_club, March 23, 2021, 7:56pm; Reply: 66
Well...

even when we are "going for it" we cant muster a shot on goal.

Look more competetive, started better than of late, got the better possession and territory i would think but still nothing clear cut or worked.

A front three that look like three individuals, Hanson and Payne hardly touched it. Not a pass between anyone of them in 45 mins.

Back four look comfortable , Clifton just about propping up left back but just too wasteful with the ball in hand or with feet. Midfield doing ok but obviously the instruction is get it forward quick.

Spokes faded and not seeing much of him on the ball now.

Without a shot on goal we arent going to win.  Lets see how we handle the wind

Barrow look poor, us a little less so. Everyone working hard, playing Sladeball, not one shot on target from either team but we seem the more likely so far. Defence looks decent again, mifielders putting in a shift along with the strikers and plenty of pressing. Will we keep it up for the 2nd half? this might be a first!

Town playing with good urgency but little skill, throwing all football to the wind and trying a  Lincoln punt and run style, tbf its at least getting the ball into their box regularly, they seem bemused by it all but after HT they will play wider I think and get around the back of us.
Fair play to Town they are 100% trying
Posted by: toontown, March 23, 2021, 8:00pm; Reply: 71
Will be surprised if barrow r as bad second half and we didn't convert any of our half chances. I expect their manager to change them second half to react to our set up, something Hurst rarely does for all his stressing over oppo teams pre-match.
Posted by: forza ivano, March 23, 2021, 8:05pm; Reply: 72
don't think you could ever expect any quality from 20th v 24th , in a crucial game, on a poor pitch and with a horrible swirling wind .
fwiw i'd take hanson off, play payne up with the shop and get williams/lamy/jackson to take up paynes' position.
bit worried about clifton, has looked a little suspect tonight and with eardley down that side there's not going to be much coing from the lhs.
finally, given the type of game it is, i'd be asking hewitt and hendrie to take as many long throws as possible. the more we can get it in and around their box the more chance we've got of getting scoring chances

Probably highlights how poor the league really is. Barrow never even set up to win tonight and they got what the deserved...nothing.

In the last we’ve seen good sides play us; Crewe, Exeter, Plymouth, Lincoln etc but this year has anyone really been impressive.

Take our twatting at Tranmere, intercourse all to do with them being any good and all to do with Holloway and is whackadoodle tactics and players.

We went to Cheltenham and dominated, barrow have done similar. May be this year it’s more about who’s less excrement that being much better...

Enjoy your little bit glory while you can. The thing about been good is consistency which Town and your upstarts have. We have been consistently the supreme team in Lincolnshire while you consistently made up the numbers.

You’re a bit premature me old six fingered mate (don’t worry you can get a cream for it).  We might have become the old Lincoln but there’s no way Lincoln qualify as the old Grimsby until you’ve spent ten years in the championship.
