Hope Macca does ok today. Looks like the subs bench are those that aren't injured.
Still they should get a win, as apart from Macca and Clifton the rest played on Tuesday.

13 matches left after this evening's match. How is this "last chance"?

Clifton at LB in a four, not as a wing back?

Quite like the look of that. Clifton has played well at left back before. He wont let us down.

Should be ok so, long as

a) Macca doesn't give them a gift goal
b) If we are winning with five minutes to go he doesn't bring Waterfall on to secure the points.

we have 2 wins in the last 20 games or something like that. There might be 39 points to play for, but its looks like we're more likely to get 10 of them and I feel I'm being really generous there sadly

Yes, but clubs have survived from far worse positions than we find ourselves in now.

We fight until it's a mathematic certainty that we are down.

Win today and it's 4 points, win on Tuesday, 1 point and beat Barrow.

All to play for, we might be at the bottom but not down and out.

The team we were so unlucky not to beat last Tuesday, are beating in-form Bradford. Is that an indication of how we are progressing, or just fluke scores?

Bench is worryingly limited , no wide replacements , Rose and Waterfall both very much one positional players.  Any injuries/ tired legs and we could be severely effected.
However , would like to see Jackson come on ahead of Green.

So that leaves us 5 points behind them, but with three games in hand. If we win today we are 3 behind with two games in hand. So they are not out of reach.

Mind you, it's all a load of guff if we don't start winning.

Vale lost at home.

We have a tough run-in:

Plenty of teams have beaten relegation by beating teams near the top.  Didn’t Fulham win their last 3 away games, after not winning away all season?  And won at Man United.

We just need a win to kickstart our survival.  Please!

On paper yes, difference for me is that this League is carp this season, has any team looked any good (apart from Grimsby for 45 mins away at Orient)? I think the best performance I've seen is from Salford and that was the way they played the ref...

The midfield look really good now they've been playing together a bit, some good passing and movement. We have players who can use the ball at their feet and are getting crosses in. It only takes one cross to find somebody and a goal to come, if they keep playing like that they'll get some joy.

Looking better in all areas there except in the final third/ around their box.
Clifton doing ok with Lamy, Hendrie ok with Morais, Coke Matete, Hewitt and Meneyase and even Hanson and LJL all linking up well and looking like we know each other....just the final bit, getting shots on target/ creating opportunities, probably two in that first half, both ending up with LJL who fluffed his lines on both.

Who else could we have bought on? The attacking options were on the pitch just none of them managed to do much today apart from LJL missing a sitter as we've seen him do many times before. Just another game where we are made to rue those chances we did have has Colchester really showed very little. I agree with you but after the first half I was up for a win. Hanson and LJL worked well for each other, Lamy in the first half was one of our stars, if I can use that word.

2nd half was dire compared to the first, especially after he took off LJL and Lamy. Just didn't look like scoring in the 2nd half. To me Hurst cost us 2 points on Tuesday and today he failed with his subs again. It was obvious to see all 3 subs were poor, which is probably why they haven't started for ages. They did nothing to replace the 3 players who were taken off.

Sorry to say that we didn't have options. In this order Fenty, Holloway and Hurst are all responsible in various different degrees for Towns downward fall.

I guess I am one of the 'negative ' fans you refer to.  I am angry, upset, frustrated and disappointed by the state of the club I love. That's why my posts are not always full of the joys of spring.

In terms of what do I suggest? Well if you went back to December you will see that I suggested bringing in at least 6 quality players. I specifically mentioned that we should not rely on inexperienced kids, non league players and players past their sell by date. Unfortunately very few of Hurst;s signings do not fall into one of those categories. It's too now though.

I get no joy from complaining about the state we have fallen to. We are going down,

That said, I believe the new owners will bring a new approach and we will have some great seasons ahead of us. I can see us climbing up top the top of L1 within the next five years.  But we are going down this season.      .

I'm an optimist as you know, but I can't see this at all for a decade at least. I'll probably be dead before that happens, too much competition in the NL of ex league clubs.

Very interesting but my question was what should we do now. December has passed.

Dave Moore on his own is better than what we have.

Is their any truth in a rumour that Hurst is in for an award. Best league 2 manager to get his team relegated?

Well you’ve just confined my comment about you earlier.

Sorry but I must have missed it.

Was it something to do with vision, optimism, positivity, realist, wanting the best for Town and similar words. Not wanting Town to go down to the NL, been given a fighting chance with a manager who takes, say 1.5 points per game, a manager who stood head and shoulders above all other candidates for the job. Criticising a manager, who in any other club would be sacked, for taking 6 points out of 36, for wining one very lucky game out of 12.

Did any of these upset you.

Hurst should be sacked, he might have done a good job in August but we had him, the man who all thought was the clubs saviour. Hurst said it's a mess in public, what he told the players at that time we may never know. Probably shattered the confidence of some.

He had the option to try and improve what he had with some quality. He didn't. He brought in his team, 1st choice, 2nd choice, fill a gap or whatever we will never know. What we do know is that it hasn't worked, since he came we went downwards. If you like being positive we can't drop anymore.

Most honourable men would resign, but not Hurst. When questioned by JT about putting pressure on the Colchester keeper Hurst said 'We hit the crossbar'. 90 minutes of pressure on a keeper to do one thing, hit a crossbar. That's being positive!, one shot on target in 90 mins of a relegation struggle.

If Hurst cannot keep us up, what chance have we of coming straight back up from the sh!ty NL. We have a very slim chance of staying up, but it needs a man manager who will motivate the players we have. I do not have details of the managers who would meet that criteria but somewhere this information formally or informally is available.

He doesn't have to be a mastermind tactician but to get the players to perform above their abilities for 12 or so games.

I don't think there is anything we can do to save us this season. We just don't have the quality of players, and we can't bring in more at this stage.

Regarding the future, we need a massive clear out in the summer, serious investment in the playing staff, and a new manager. I am sure this is what the new owners will undertake.

I agree with you, but who really did give the job to Hurst. As much as I ask nobody has answered the question, not even a rumour. Somebody has to be supporting him in the club hierarchy or he'd have gone. Consortium have no authority, Fenty is waiting for his cheque to be signed so Hurst's fairy godmother is a mystery.

Think we have to stick with what we’ve got this season
Thought p h should continue next season but not so sure now.

Apart from moaning, what do our negative fans suggest we do.
If we don’t continue support, we will certainly go down.

We’re going down . How can you watch that game and see any other outcome?! Absolutely pathetic second half .

None of what you say upsets me I just find it bizarre that after all if your in depth synopsis of the current situation all you can suggest is give the job to Dave Moore.

Maybe some of the players are already performing above their current abilities, maybe the players just aren’t good enough.

When you say he had the option to improve us with some quality I’m no expert but “quality” doesn’t usually dwell at the bottom of league 2 or usually gravitate to that level.

In terms of getting a “man manager” to motivate the players how do you measure this? Is it someone who jumps around like a demented baboon on the touch line? Well we had one of those and he caused untold damage and walked when he couldn’t grab his pay day.

Or is the “man manager“ a manager who quietly gets on with the business of creating an environment where everyone is on the same page towards the same cause.

If we go down should Hurst go? Yeah quite possibly but calling for his head now hardly illustrates “optimism” or “positivity” does it?

Optimism and Positivity aren’t 2 words that are meaning a lot to me and probably a load of other Town fans at the minute.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Same old boring answer.

Any of the out of work managers out there couldn't really do much worse.

2 are injured ones the others flipping excrement

Most of the entire squad are excrement, that's why we are 6 points adrift at the bottom of League 2.

Thing for me is we are behind in ambition to even barrow! They were going nowhere under jolley so acted upon it and are now reaping their rewards, whilst we just plod on and on with Hurst into the conference. It's almost like we have just accepted our fate and it's not acceptable though is it

Spot on.

MJ got 7 points from 21 and was sacked after only 7 games in charge. They have now got 9 points from 15.

PH has got 6 points from 36 and is still in charge.

I bet the Barrow fans are really drunk off they didn't stay with Jolley.

Just forced myself to watch the 'highlights'. As for LJL's miss from two feet out, all I can say is chuffin hell.

Not at all, but then I can usually see the good in most people. Some take longer than others.
