A massive month coming up for us in our fight against the dreaded drop with 8 games in the month.

Where do you think we'll pick up any points in this lot.

Tues 2nd - Leyton Orient - Home

Sat 6th - Forest Green Rovers - Home

Tues 9th - Carlisle United - Away

Sat 13th - Colchester United - Home

Wed 17th - Tranmere Rovers - Home

Sat 20th - Mansfield Town - Away

Tues 23rd - Barrow - Away

Sat 27th - Walsall - Home

Obviously the Colchester and Barrow games will be massive but we obviously need to pick up points in the games before then so that these games are still going to be important when they come round.

I honestly don't know what will happen to be fair. What's your assessment of the month coming up?

If we don't win tomorrow then I will be looking for the same as our Eurovision Song Contest entry in 2003.

On current form we're royally screwed looking at our fixtures through March.
Unless theres a sudden change in our fortunes I fear we could be on the cusp of relegation come the end of this month.

Or we could be like the 89/90 Buckley team to be promoted where we roared into March like lions (quote courtesy of Roly G I think) and won all 7 games    ??)

Gosh it looks bleak doesn't it, I think we need four wins from that sequence as an absolute minimum. I can't see it happening now to be honest, Tuesday is a must win for me.

Given that we need 8 wins in our remaining fixtures to stand any chance of staying up, I think we will need to win 4 of these 8 games.

I'd say most likely wins would be Orient, Barrow, Colchester and Wallsall.

I think we must win those as a minimum, anything over and above that would be a bonus.

I don’t see any games being harder or easier than another at this stage in the season. Teams on a bad run have got rid of their managers recently so there could be some changes in their performances.

Only if we sign most of that squad as out of contract players, some would likely be fitter than most of our current squad.

I think we need at least 5 wins from those inc Barrow and Colchester to even have a hope of staying up.

I'm thinking maybe 10 points from that lot.
Then: -  Played 37 Points 34 & 9 games remaining.
Apart from the fact I can still do simples arithmetic not much joy to glean from that scenario.
Still  like the majority sad Mariners on here I shall look forward to every Tuesday night/ Saturday & remain immune to the reality & repeated bouts of depression.
Bromley - be very afraid the mighty Mariners are coming.

For a start tomorrow (Orient) is a must win game, I can’t see us getting points against FGR, Tranmere or Carlisle, maybe we can get points against Colchester and Barrow and the other games mentioned, it will be a defining month that’s for sure, after seeing us Saturday I fear the worst, i do hope I am wrong though.

Make or break month. Get a few results and we’ve got a chance, don’t and we’ll be cut adrift.

I still think we can come good, my optimism is still that we are practically playing a team that haven't played together, we are still in a non-existant pre-season for these new players.

Orient sacked their manager last night.

Let's hope he was popular with the players and they're just too gutted to bother tomorrow  :-/

24 points to play for we'll get 18

WINS  Orient, FGR, Colchester, Barrow & Walsall

DRAWS   Carlisle, Tranmere, Mansfield

Sorry can't forecast defeat, just being positive, enthusiastic and passionate that were staying up.

i foresee a month where we contrive to lose most of the games, with a series of inept performances.

this is based upon an identical summary of the monthly series of matches i've watched in February, January, December & November............

Orient have only scored 2 goals in I think 7 games - tomorrow really is must win. I think we also need to see a performance too. Winning’s good, but for the sake of confidence I think we need a deserved victory, not a smash and grab or ground out victory.

Jobi McAnuff has been appointed as Leyton Orient's interim manager. Looks like he might be a player/manager as he's been in their team pretty much all season (39 years old).

Be interesting to see if they get any kind of "bounce" given they've gone for an internal appointment.

We've only won 6 games all season, and we probably need to double that tally to give ourselves a chance of staying up.

The thing is, we've only looked convincing in one of those wins — away at Cheltenham.

The win over Orient was with a last-minute penalty; the win over Crawley last Tuesday was fortuitous; the 1-0 wins over Barrow and Scunny before Christmas were pretty dire affairs and the other win (at Crawley) came after we went behind.

I know it's all about points, and to hell with style. But teams can't sustain a winning run by playing poorly. We need a win tomorrow, but a good performance will give the players a bit more of a boost.

I have no fear of us playing against FGR, I streamed their game against Southend and they were out played all over the park, to be honest they looked as bad as we did against Harrogate. I live in hope they have another bad day next Saturday.

Bradford signed 9 new players in January.

They have won 9 and drawn 3 of their last 13 games.

I just don't buy the argument that our problems are due to having a bunch of new players.

I do, and an extra blood pressure when we lose. Then I rest with a glass of red wine and read the negatives on The Fishy and off we go again. Positives arry, positives we're stay up.

Pity Orient have a new manager, as they will probably try harder now, but for me, it's as much what other teams do as it is what we do. The other struggling sides have just as much of a task as we do picking up points, so as long as we don't get cut adrift, we always have that chance of getting a little run going.

Yeah, I know we are sh1te, but so are others and if we can just be slightly less sh1te than them, we still have a chance.

a minor ray of hope is that we are good deal better in mid week games than we are Saturday games
On Saturday's we've played 18 won only 2 and gained just 11 points
Contrast that with mid week games where we've played 11, won 4 of them and got 13 points

11 points for me. That’s being optimistic too.

Probably what Southend fans thought last week, so there must be a small glimmer of hope.

I'll just check the league table before committing to an answer if that's ok......
