Not sure now is the time for positivity

But Rose is absolute class. The best player we have had since returning to the league.

So class he cant last 90 minutes. His passing was shocking today. And he’s nowhere near the best player we’ve had since being back in the league. He looks “good” in a very inconsistent poor side

Omar Bogle? Siriki Dembele? Dean Henderson? What's wrong with your memory?

No chance. Going from League One down to League Two easily trumps going from League Two to the Champions League.

Rose is a tidy enough player and could be a useful cog in midfield, but he is in no way an exceptional stand out player at our level

I mean I’m glad Salford clarified that he’s been on the sauce...Rose is just another player in a long line of players that in ten years we won’t even remember...

Alongside a couple of these, it’s not difficult to look competent. I’m not convinced he’s any better than Hess.

He kept losing the ball today which gave the other side chances in goal, but I do think he’s still half decent.

He's a proven performer and a player who is more than comfortable in League 2. Don't think we've seen the best of him, or us as a team yet.

Dembele. Bogle. You can make strong arguments for. Henderson is a keeper. Not having that.

But even though I’ve had a ton of cider. I still think rose is absolute class. Those that said he gave the ball away a lot today I say bull excrement. His positioning and thought of pass is a level above.

Watch him off the ball next match. Wonderful footballer.

Forget trying to be positive about town player bud... this lot just think we're full of shite players and a crud manager who's not going to do any good...I truly despair!!

What was said about Mohsni by Holloway? Sure I heard it on the commentary driving back from fishing that Ollie said he made a mistake signing him or did I hear wrong?

He said the other day in hindsight he wish he never signed him as his fitness levels seem way below what they should be.

Rose is decent, Ollie should always start with him and Clifton in the middle.
Posted by: headingly_mariner, November 21, 2020, 6:47pm; Reply: 21
He’s struggled today, him and Taylor don’t look a good pairing. May be useful with Clifton next to him.

He’s not in the top 10 players we’ve had since we’ve been back in the league. He’s not even close to being our best player at the minute. Not that I think he’s bad.

If rose is playing then he needs the energy of Clifton with him. Rose is decent, nowt special, had a nightmare today tho so could hardly complain at being dropped

Haha.

To be fair I was hammered when I wrote that

And watched him at Pompey a few times when they went up. Talk to any Pompey fan. And they will probably be the only ones who agree with me on this!

He’s certainly a tidy player but not really a game changer, sadly (as with many others) I thought it was his worst performance today
He is also one of only a few experienced players we have, and I’d like to see him show more leadership and vocal encouragement to some of the younger players

Silly little boy. Find anywhere where i’ve said he’s worth a starting spot. Said he’s best of a bad bunch.     What on earth has Rose done thus far to show anything. I’ll tell you. Nothing. He and the rest, not good enough
Posted by: Croxton, November 21, 2020, 10:05pm; Reply: 30
Rose has good moments where he shows his experience and ability to mix short and longer passing. Today, however, he was caught in possession a few times and failed to knit the midfield together with periods of possession.
He should be directing the play and holding his position in front of the CB's, bringing them out to squeeze space in midfield. As soon as the game is stretched, Rose is in danger of running out of gas causing Taylor and Clifton to cover the space.

We were out gunned in midfield by a side who, like Hull, moved well off the ball and passed to feet. Rose and Taylor are useless in the air and were out passed on the deck. Taking Williams off and leaving Gibson and Scannel on made the task even harder for Rose who was shattered in the second half. But for Clifton's energy, it could have been 6/7 nil. Rose has to stay central and build an understanding with Waterfall, Pollock and Macca. Too few players on the same wavelength.

Depends if you've watched him in other games before today, or just today where he was absolutely dreadful.

Rose seems a decent enough player for this level, I wouldn't say he is a top league 2 midfielder and he certainly isn't the worst midfielder in league 2 this season, but out of Hessenthaler and Rose I do prefer Hessenthaler from what I have seen so far

I’m fairness to Rose he has given the ball away a fair bit but mainly because he’s had to dwell on it too long as the movements around him is so p1ss poor.

Give him a decent mid field partner and some experience ahead of him and he’ll do a decent job for us.

I really like Rose but, like everyone else, he was garbage on Saturday.

Because of the lack of quality and confidence in the side, his options are very limited when he has the ball.  That's the same for everyone in the side.  With the exception of Edwards, no-one seemed to want the ball and there was an awful lot of hiding behind players or making runs that didn't actually present an option but rather avoided having to come short and show.

When not in possession it's quite clear he's played at a higher level and reads the game very well.  For him to be most effective though he needs either a box-to-box man in there with him or a bit of a playmaker.  Taylor seems to want to do the same job as Rose, but isn't at that level yet.   Now that's probably not  Taylor's fault, you are the type of player you are.  It's down to Holloway to find the right balance in the middle.

Take it on the chin Hagrid, I was one of those who thought Gavin Gunning was ok so we all see players differently. You should have been around when Mike Hickman was playing for a player who divided opinion. He took some stick from the old Barrett Stand.

Nobody is having a go at you Hagrid it is just a bit of teasing after a good result. I'm sure the last thing anybody wanted, including myself was to upset you but if you say someone is garbage and has done nothing and he plays really well 3 days later then you might get a little tease. Don't take it personally.

I wasn't singling out anyone when I bumped the thread. It was you that responded, but if you feel I'm having a pop at you, apologies, it wasn't intended.

It's a great and unexpected win tonight. Let's focus on that.

One of the reasons Rose was everywhere for the final 85 minutes was he knew he could have done better in the moments before they scored. At first, it seemed he was carrying on from his poor game on Saturday but he showed leadership, experience  and character to battle back and for once we didn't miss Hess ironically.

I have to eat humble pie re Scannell. He also had a slow start but then started to win his battles too and linked well with full backs, Edwards and Wright to put Crawley's defence under pressure. Well done to both.
