Did anyone else see the seemingly very short lived news item on Grimsby Live this morning about Limbrick?

I looked online this morning and there was a new news item about him, but apart from the headline stating he has been released from his contract, i didnt read the rest of the item. Ive gone to have a read of it about an hour later and its nowhere to be seen.

It must have only been on there minutes, if not seconds, as there has been no other mention of it anywhere.

Has he decided to move up here after all?

I reckon the GT have his departure story all written up and ready to run with it, but they posted it by mistake, as when I returned to read it, the headline had been replaced by the one about Chris Doig.

So who is responsible for coaching / training / fitness of GTFC players? Seems Anthony Limbrick may have left (the day before the new season started) - leaving a void in this area? Hence comments on todays Match Thread alluding to some of Towns players not being up to speed on fitness - (the ones that are forced to play) - others that have been signed may have fitness issues as well and being protected until they are fit.
Perhaps the club will confirm who the coaching / training / fitness team are.
I think a really good exercise for all of the squad would be to run from training ground at Cheapside to the trig point at Brigsley Top at least once a week, with performances being timed by the coaching / training / fitness team in order to monitor improvement / deterioration.

and why the do we always seem to have just 1 coach and other teams have 3-4 coaches.

1 x Manager (Buckley), (Jolley)
1 x Assistant (Mann), (Limberick)
1 x Coach (?), (?)

How many teams have 3-4 coaches?

Before Limbrick decided he can't get to work, I think we had:

Manager
Assistant manager
Under 23's coach
YT coach
Physio
Analyst (do we still have one?)
Fitness coach

Crewe got promoted and have the same minus a fitness coach. Carlisle have the same as Crewe. Exeter have a sports therapist, but no analyst. Newport only appear to have a manager and assistant manager.

It's really easy to make blase comments that we do everything on the cheap, but the first 4 clubs I googled, that are often the ones mentioned as doing things better than us, don't seem to have anything more than we do...

But those are facts - a lot of posters on here prefer theories and conjecture.

Slade brought an analyst in but Jolley got rid of him because Limbrick could do all of that.

Holloway said the other week that Limbrick was great on the laptop at doing the analysis and he would now have to pick that work up.

I think we often overlook the fact our physio is also a coach.

Oh come on, how far do you think you will get on here stating FACTS?

Lets face it, this forum is all about lies, untruths, disinformation, calumniation, aspersions, hyperboles, mendacity, prevarication, mendacities, revilement, subterfuge, vilification and culminating in a whole lot of whoppers.

Physio + Full set of Academy Staff

Basically loads more staff than us.

Not according to their own website https://www.newport-county.co.uk/club-1/staff-index/

Googling those names says several of them aren't there. Wasn't even "loads more than us" to start with and 2 of them were there on work placements from what I can tell.

Yeah but what you are saying is disingenuous they aren't operating on two senior staff, those you've crossed out have only left in the last couple of months based on their own CVs or still have it down as presently employed alongside other employers such as swim wales.

Based on those numbers last season they had 8 staff with the first team and we had 6, loads more is a bit of an exaggeration, but much less so than claiming it's just the manager and an assistant

But now we’re onto FTE

You realise Greg Howard working 37.5 hours is more than 3 people working 12 hours each in spite of the fact they have 3 members of staff to our 1?

It wasn't disingenuous at all, it was taken from their official club website. Where else was I supposed to look for information about them? And of those 8 that they had, 3 are virtually the same role, where at least one of their linked in pages says they were on a work placement.

Anyway why are we all assuming Limbrick won’t be replaced??

How exactly are they basically the same role they are different specialisms, this kind of thinking is why we have basically been excrement for 20 years.

Think so, he asked Hursty who said yes and told him to eat his crusts or it will be early to bed with no tea

It’s not really about the numbers of coaches etc but what those people being to the table surely?

You can have 10 coaches but if they all just do the same thing then they’re a waste of money but if one is an analyst, one a GK coach, one a defensive coach, one a fitness coach and so on, they’re all useful.

The same if you only have 3/4 staff, if they can offer more than traditional coaching so to speak then it’s worth having them.

I guess we’ll never actually know what went on or what Limbrick actually did but I’d imagine there are things he did do that aren’t being done.

I don’t think Limbrick was unreasonable in his request and some may argue neither were the club but surely he does need replacing?
