Ian Holloway revealed that he’s hoping to make another 'really exciting'  senior signing, one that he promised would peak supporters’ interest.

“That would be really exciting whether that happens or not,” Holloway added.

Well, no! If it doesnt happen, it wont be very exciting will it?

I can almost hear Jim Bowen's voice in the background.....

Look at what you could have won!

What position... based on yesterday's match, striker potentially or an experienced winger?

Not sure if it's already been mentioned on here but he also said we are set to sign Wolves midfielder Terry Taylor on loan.

Not very exciting and pure speculation but Ollie was a big fan of Kwesi Appiah and they’ve worked together before who is now a free agent

Journeyman striker. Spent years at various lower league clubs on loan from Palace without ever featuring for them. Been at Wimbledon for the last couple of years with a 1 in 5 strike rate so not necessarily prolific but has a handful of caps for Ghana so clearly has something about it.

We have got a few wingers.. but I don't think any of the younger guys would be considered starters throughout the entire season.. in my opinion... Scannell yes, but the others.. not so sure and I am not convinced Tilley is the answer unfortunately.. although he has certainly got some ability..

Experienced signing from higher division might happen towards the end of the transfer window according to Humberside. So we’ve got about a month for them not to find something better to come along.

Am I right in thinking that squad Number 8 hasn't been claimed yet?

Squad numbers don't mean a lot in the grand scheme of things but sometimes can give an indication of what's left to come in. A midfielder would maybe leave us quite heavy in terms of numbers if nothing else - Clifton, Williams, Hewitt, Rose, Taylor, Spokes and Khouri (if needed). Plus Jock Curran, who I'm guessing is back from his one-day loan at Clee Town.

Here’s a question for you all.

James Hanson, whom I rate is mysteriously injured really wants to be closer to home in Bradford
I understand and respect that.

Omar Bogle did good stuff for us and went on to higher things including higher wages.

James Hanson has a poor record re fitness

Question......would you prefer Omar to James if Ollie can fix it?
Posted by: Abdul19, September 7, 2020, 6:38pm; Reply: 45
If that was a choice, I'm not sure why anyone would pick Hanson over Bogle!

Hanson is better if fit
We must not get too many crocks in our squad
Does James really want to be here?

I think anyone even engaging in this debate, let alone mooting James Hanson as the better player, have forgotten just how good Omar was at the peak of his powers here (and I mean no disservice to Hanson in saying that - he’s our player and a good one in his own right).

Bogle is the complete striker at this level - just look at the variety of the goals in the video below; popping up in the six yard box, headers, long rangers, individual efforts, it’s all there.

He’s absolutely everything you could ask for at this level, and I think he’d be phenomenal for us. Yes he’s lost his way a little, but it’s not been through injury; perhaps his confidence has just gone a bit. IH would be perfect for him in that regard, just look at the return to form of Charles Vernam. It’s hard to believe he was on loan at Chorley just a few weeks before he scored that goal at Colchester.

Sadly, I’m still of the opinion that it won’t happen. There is surely someone out there somewhere capable of paying him more than us who would want him. This is a strange window for obvious reasons, and in Sean Scannell we’ve already signed someone I’d have thought would be out of our reach financially, but I just can’t see a logical way this could happen.

I’d take great pleasure in being completely wrong though. In fact I’d happily let Omar shag my wife if he came back, but I’ll keep quiet on that one as I don’t want to put him off...

I think he played as a twin striker for Aynek alongside Isewk Haippa but given a free transfer as he was dyslexic and couldn't read who the away team were, he ended up in Asabmom while the rest of the team were in Iborian

If there are two things I don’t particularly associate with the country of Ghana it’s quality sports journalism and an appealing national dish.

The first is mainly because, prior to opening this thread, I’d never heard of the no doubt global publication that is sportsworldghana.com. The second is mainly due to this stuff:

I once bought some after perusing the Asda ‘world foods’ aisle, for no other reason than sheer intrigue and the fact that West Africa was in the midst of an Ebola outbreak and it felt like an edgy thing to do at the time.

That’s right: hot chilli sauce with shrimp and unspecified fish. What’s not to like? All I will say is that its description is worse than its name, it looks worse than it sounds, it smells worse than it looks and it tastes worse than it smells.

Why is it called ‘Shito’? I’m not 100% sure to be honest but the experience I went through the following morning is probably a clue.

Anyway, if Bogle signs in the next seven days I’ll eat a whole jar of the stuff whilst running naked in front of the Pontoon. Go on Omar, I dare you...
