It's started. Southampton have renamed their U23 squad Southampton B Team. They will compete in Premier League 2 and their training will mirror the first team

Not sure that signifies the start of anything tbh. They've changed the name back to Southampton Reserves, pretty much.

(And Brentford already have a B team)

A few teams have B teams, albeit they may change the name from time to time.

The B teams thing will happen, it was always gonna be pushed through when clubs didn’t unanimously vote against including them in the checkatrade trophy.

I’ve never been entirely convinced that top flight teams are that sold on the idea. They like their little bubble and the u23/premier league 2 league provides that for them.

Isn't the Premier League 2 for U23s anyway?
