I can still see an end if people do what his experts are telling him. Everyone keep calm, football will be back at some point, and UTM x.

This season will end but next season may be changed dramatically in some way. Maybe no domestic cup competitions including the FA Cup?

Maybe just jump a year and finish this season from February next year

Talking to someone about the virus today and he seemed to think the virus hasn't peaked yet in the UK.I think the FA  may add a further extension to the 30 th April.

I can see the Olympics being cancelled though.

Don't know how they predict these things but they have said a few times about an expected peak in May.

If we look to China for the benchmark (how I now have an inbuilt hatred for Chinese wet markets) they are 4 months in from the first cases and are starting to return to some form of normality. .
With that in mind, we should be looking peaking in the next 2-3 weeks then 6-8 weeks after that before we could even think about returning to the pitch..
So I would say best case scenario is back to football ( no doubt behind closed doors) 1st week in July, playing 2 games a week...finish the season 1st week in August and new season starting 1st week on September...
Obviously a lot of this depends on the morons who don't seem to understand simple instructions to "stay at home" actually doing just that!!

If people can stay at home from now, they can't catch the virus and it will die out. It depends on cooperating and not visiting parks and beaches. It's not that much of a hardship to stay home and watch tv, is it?

Yes but I think as well it depends how well the public heed the guidelines set down by the government in combating the virus. In Asia where the virus stated  they were able to contain the virus due to lock down in one particular city with strict curfews imposed by the police as you maybe aware.

Just have been today, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics have been officially postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus.

Yes .Looking at the news Sunday it was quite surprising how many didn't heed the governments advice .Little wonder they were forced to react yesterday with tougher measures.

Even if every case was cleared up here it's only just started in India, Africa and South America and it will be years before its wiped out completely (the Black Death is still going strong). Football is a global game, certainly the top flight. It couldn't start while there are major countries in lockdown.

We'll have to pull up the drawbridge for a few years and settle for friendles with Scunny, Lincoln and Brigg Town.

The powers that be have said they will finish this season as a priority. Too many loose ends and possible lawsuits to contend with if they stopped it now.

No doubt they will already have been working on many different plans for something for next season, but which one they choose will all depend on when this season restarts and ultimately ends.

To state a double negative.......it can't not finish.

Personally I cannot see the season finishing for a long time, more likely not at all.

The virus will still be prevalent for a long time after this initial lockdown so until they find and issue a vaccine I can't see football re starting.

All they are doing at the moment is buying time so the NHS can cope, but the problem will remain for an indefinite time.

They certainly would not want thousands of people going to football and spreading it again so I can't see this season ever being finished.

Assuming it will be in to next year when a vaccine is produced and delivered to the population I would guess this season would be made null and void.

Perhaps we might re start in August 2021.

PS All this is a guess as my medical knowledge extends to going to the doctor with my various ailments.

Finishing the season with matches played behind closed door would still be a worry for players and coaching staff. You can't play football and stay two metres away from everyone else*

*unless you are Robert Prosinecki for Pompey etc... badum tish
