i am sure there must be a reason for the entry fee but it just seems a little bit of a slap in the face to me rather than an appreciation of the effort exiles generally make to get to BP.
In reality it means coming up a day earlier, an overnight stop which could be a potential added expense , then the £5 entry (ok effectively a couple of quid after you deduct a free pint).

For a club trying to build relationships then even a token entry fee seems a little unproductive to me on this occassion.

Because of Friday being a busy day at work I’m not 100% sure I’ll make it, though ill make the game.

As an exiled STH who makes all Saturday and most  Tuesday games I’m not bothered about £5 if it gives the Trust some cash to do some stuff for the greater good.

fck me the value of the pound has dropped since we left  ;D

Thats kind of my point though, at £5 including a drink then they arent exactly going to be making a mint, £1:50/£2:00 per person... so to make it free you wouldnt actually be losing alot of income but you would be gaining an awful lot of decent PR.

To be honest the entry fee wouldn’t be the concern. Of all the costs associated with a weekend up to see the football a fiver isn’t going to tip the balance or pissme off.

Saturday evening would have been nicer as there’d be no need to take time off work, but I can see why they’d plump for Friday.

It’s good that the Trust have organised it.

Hope they've got a bucket so we can chuck a donation in to aid the cause.
Quite fitting actually as Its a Grim Exile , the old exiles association \ newsletter always sponsored the youth team in the Ian Knight days

It's something new to try and feedback always welcome.

With regards to the Saturday rather than the Friday - we have to be mindful of the gaffers other arrangements.

On the cost - the decision was made to charge, with pretty much no profit, as the concern was that some would just bag a ticket and if things couldn't be arranged transport/accommodation wise just not use it.

Is that the right or wrong decision?  We'll only know in hindsight but as I say its something new that can be tweaked for future events.

just got this from Dave Roberts

Good Afternoon - With the evening with Ollie just a couple of days away I wanted to just let you know the arrangements for the night.

The night will be very informal  with Ollie spending  time chatting with everyone individually or in small groups. He will then say a few words, well probably a lot, and then we will have a Q & A.

Doors open at 7pm with Ollie arriving around 7.30pm. We would expect the evening to finish around 10pm, plenty of time for a night out in Cleethorpes!

There will be someone at the door to greet you and check your name (s) on the list. He will then issue you with your drinks voucher.

If you have any local family and friends that you would like to bring along that is fine, they can pay on the door.

For anyone who doesn't know where the Trust bar is, the entrance is on the main car park at the Constitutional Ave end.

One final thing you should be aware of is we have had confirmation that Sky TV will be there filming. They are following Ollie on Thursday and Friday to put together a feature on him and so him interacting with supporters will be ideal for them. Should be fun!

Look forward to seeing your there.

For the greater good I will stay away from this event seeing as a lady in the village has the coronavirus  and has been in the local shop that I have been in,

Wow that’s a good discount on the match day ticket. Shame I can’t make it as I’ve just had a week off sick.

Sounds brilliant and as an exile season ticket holder I’m  soooo disappointed as I’ll miss it! I’ve to escort my son on his rugby tour so can’t make it. I’ll certainly look forward to the next one and Kristine I think it’s perfectly acceptable to charge for a ticket. Onwards and upwards to the Mariners!!!
