64 entries this time. I have a fund of £635.64 due to Paypal charges, rather than £640. I will donate £125.64 to The Brain Tumour Charity (massive thanks for that) which will leave me with a prize fund of £510.

The winner or winners will share a prize pot of £300, there will also be the usual other 3 prizes of £50 each for the lowest score when the prize is won, the first team to score nil on 3 consecutive weeks and the first team to sack their manager during the course of the game. You can only win 1 £50 prize but you can still win the top prize. This will leave me with £60 which I will give away in 2 £30 prizes at random to entrants who have not won a prize.

Cambridge United have parted company with Colin Calderwood so the first manager to be sacked prize didn't last long.

£50 winging it's way to Dawlish Mariner.

Many thanks Les: money received before I even knew he'd been sacked!

Liverpool and Portsmouth join Man United at the top of the table this week. Of the 15 teams that scored nil last week only 3 scored nil again this week so next weekend this prize can only be won by Stockport County, Tranmere Rovers and a certain Bradford City!!

Because the National League is not restarting until the first week of October I will not be restarting the Fishy Buster until then, when all teams are playing.

Just to confirm that the buster will restart with games played on Friday 9th October.

Although the National League restarts on the Saturday before, AFC Fylde, Chorley and Ebbsfleet were all relegated to the North/South Divisions and they do not recommence fixtures until the midweek after and I will be using their scores in their respective leagues to complete the competition.

I think this is the fairest way for all and there will be as few default 2 scores as possible until the conclusion of the game.

It's looking highly likely now that the National League isn't going to restart as planned which is going to throw a spanner in the works of the restart of The Fishy Buster. 13 entrants have National League teams so I was planning on restarting it when The National League kicked off so it was fair on all entrants.

Looks like another re-think is going to be needed as I've been sat on the majority of the prize money since lockdown. If the National League isn't going to restart in the near future then maybe I'll have to look at donating the money I still hold to 1 or more charity.

Will wait for an official announcement before I make any decision,

Are there enough teams available in EFL & PL to draw a different team for those with NL teams?

True, that is an option. I could just generate a new random team for the 13 who have National League teams.

If the NL does not start on the 3rd as is looking likely, I will probably do that.

Or could you draw a new team for everyone but each participant carries forward the score they currently have to their new team.

It's now looking like The National League WILL be starting as expected on Saturday. If it was going to be suspended I would have thought that an announcement would have be made by now, so I will revert to my original plan to restart the buster with games starting on Friday 9th October. This will allow for the teams relegated from The National League last season as their seasons don't start until the midweek after The National League starts on Saturday.

The only thing I will keep an eye on is Macclesfield, as although it's been reported that the club has been wound up, their fixtures are still showing as being on, on the BBC website. I will see what happens with their scheduled game on Saturday and if that doesn't go ahead I will draw a new random team to replace them for the remainder of this game.

We will get there eventually!  ;D

Oh FFS!

Didn't realise that. Right, we'll start the following week then so it'll be fair on all. Games played on Friday 16th October will be the first to count.

A final update on the restart of the fishy buster.

Originally I was going to start it the weekend just gone but as this coming week is an international break I will restart it again with matches played a week on Friday (16th Oct).

As the National League HAS  restarted as planned then I do not need to draw new teams for them BUT as Macclesfield have been expelled and Sandii Raithby has Macc in the buster, I have redrawn a new random team to take their place. This is Port Vale and will replace Macc going forward. For the relegated teams, Ebbsfleet, Chorley and AFC Fylde, their games in their respective new divisions will count.

I think this is the fairest way all round and will result in the minimum "default 2's" being awarded.

WE'RE BACK finally.

Prizes still to be won. The winner or winners (the first team to score EXACTLY 21 GOALS) will share a prize pot of £300, a pot of £50 for the lowest scorer (or scorers) when the prize is won. I will then be left with £60 which I will give away in 2 £30 prizes at random to entrants who have not won a prize.

Man United need a single goal next week to win the first prize, they are home to Chelsea, who themselves need 4.

Well, for the 2nd week running Man Utd failed to get the solitary goal they needed to win the main prize but at  least they didn't bust, so live to fight another week.

Next week 4 teams have a realistic chance of winning the main prize. Chelsea (home to Sheffield United on Saturday), Liverpool, (away at Man City on Sunday) and Man Utd, (away at Everton in the early kick-off on Saturday), all need a solitary goal and National League Barnet need 2 goals at home to Burton in the FA Cup on Sunday. Also there are 4 teams who could win by scoring 4.

Check your team and let me know any queries.

Well, first prize has been won. Liverpool scored the solitary goal they needed to give Bartgtfc the win. Barnet who could have shared the prize with 2 goals, did score early on but could not add a second, so fell just short.

Co-incidentally though, if Barnet had scored a 2nd, then Bartgtfc would have had to share his winnings with.............Mrsbartgtfc!

There is still a game to play on Monday though and with Bradford scoring 7 in their away FA Cup tie, there is a  very small chance that Northampton could score 8 at Oxford City, so I will wait until after tomorrows game before officially declaring the winners prize money. Chorley, despite scoring 2 today (90 minute score in cup games), still win the lowest score for Mike Roberts who wins £50. I will also announce the 2 random winners of the £30 prizes tomorrow from all the non-winning teams.

Even without the lockdown pause it was the longest buster ever, running to 11 weeks. It's usually won in week 7, 8 or 9.

I have just done the draw for the 2 random £30 winners from all losing entries using my random number generator on my phone.

They are Nottingham Forest (LauraH) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Grantham Mariner).

A big thank you to all those who took part. Well done to the winners and unlucky to those who failed to win a prize. We will have a 2 or 3 week break and then I'll put the feelers out to see if there's enough interest to run another game this season.

Well done to the winners and well done to you Les.

You run these bits of fun and charity money makers with great efficiency and charm.  ;)

I'm sure there is a better word than charm, but I can't think of one.  I did have one when i got Wimbledon, but I have forgotten it.   :)
