Then I very much doubt we have pinched it from anybody else. (Other than Aalst)  ;)

thought i heard it as

"We are from Grimsby ..who the flip are you."   so as Moss said could have been "We're Aalst and Grimsby"   to the same tune as

" insert name get battered everywhere they go"

Great new song... we couldnt work out from the back of the stand if it was 'lads'  otr 'boys' from grimsby.... but the actual lyrics are excellent.

Beautiful South - Rotterdam :)

Dont think so Bristol.mate said it was a Glasgow bloke ,soloist who plays guitar.who wrote it. Think it must've been the Aalst boys who started it, but it gathered such momentum that everyone was at it within a few mins.then later someone realised G-T-F-C  fitted in, so it got that added

I see what you mean (the ‘who the f are you’ bit sounds like the ‘anywhere alone’ line). But the rest isn’t.

Decent song that the home fans reacted to and created a decent atmosphere down in that corner.  Plenty of O's left applauding our fans and our manager.

Liverpool started singing a song to the Rotterdam not long back. Then different teams picked it up singing “[rivals] get battered, everywhere they go”. Scunny were singing it the other week, last week it was Mansfield get battered. This is just another version.

Slight departure but haven't seen this before.I know it was good yesterday but this knocks it into a cocked hat. If only we could have our own song.....

We would need;

a local succesful songwriter
a song referring or applicable to the town/area

(Confused)

Ok....

Rod Temperton - responsible for the Michael Jackson tune...  Off the (North) Wall   ;D

Bernie Taupin ( local-ish) with the Elton John song...  Grimsby

Pisces - Up the Mariners

Orphan Boy - Black and White for you

Illustrious - ? cannot remember the name of the song for the life of me...but had an Oi Oi Oi in the chorus i am sure

That’s as may be but it veers from the Rotterdam tune.

found the liverpool one on you tube - it's very different, much slower and a replica of the original song, saturday's one was much quicker and bears only a faint resemblance to the original

We were singing it back to Scunny too, but I was singing "boring sh*t b*astards, everywhere they go" and then on Saturday I was singing "We're the lads from Grimsby, who the f*ck are you?" So, I've been singing different versions of the same song wrong at two different games?  ;D ;D

Either way what an atmosphere on Saturday loving life as a Mariner again

Seriously, is there anything the club could do to promote an official twinning with Aalst, or something like that? Pre season friendlies in Belgium would be amazing! What an incredible thing they achieved, bringing 93 fans over! Impressive, and very much appreciated too. Fancy them choosing us!!

Twinnings are a big thing on the continent. Hellas Verona are twinned with Fiorentina for instance, Livorno twinned with Eintracht Frankfurt etc...

Not necessarily something I’d get my head around or be in favour of but given the fact the club has dug itself out of the PR abyss in the last two weeks it could be something to explore...

Yes. But we live in a post-fact world. They don't like it if you tell them they've got something factually incorrect.

intercourse me there's some sad girl privates on here who red cross a fact. That tune was not the one from 'Rotterdam'. One line bore a tasing resemblance.

It was the Aalst lads at the front of the stand who started singing “we’re Aalst and Grimsby”. By the time the chant got to the back of the stand, I’m sure I heard someone singing, “you put your left leg in, your left leg out”. 😉

Either way it's catchy and if the Aalst boys are in town then just tweak it to Aalst and Grimsby.. Gutted I'm missing this feel good factor. Plymouth away mid week anyone?  :P

Plymouth game will be very special for Ollie, its his beloved club and has fond memories. Its a shame its on a Tuesday night, will be hard for many to go due to work commitments, and its  a long way to travel, but I bet it will be a belter of a game. Tuesday 3rd March for those interested.

Holloway is not stupid (mad definitely but not stupid) I think you will find he waxed lyrical about how marvellous every club was in his interviews when he was appointed
