Got to say how impressed I was with IH. He seems to really get it it. Making the players feel something for the club. Making the fans feel valued. Understanding the Town. This might be the start of something special.

Get the impression he's not going to be messing about, if players don't perform they'll be out the door.
Something tells me we'll have half a squad turfed out and new ones in before the end of January, certainly when he talked about arranging a game just for those that have contacted him in the last 48 hours...

Noticed Ludvig was training. Think this about him being injured is a load of balls

Did I detect Holloway being a little prickly towards Tondour? A hangover from the mistrust other managers have had with radio Humberside or am I reading too much into it?

Is there a link to it?

Not at all. You’re reading too much into it.

"First one to catch me doesn't get shipped out in the transfer window," I think I saw somewhere Cardwell is the fastest runner !!!

Honestly I'm utterly convinced that if he can't make a go of it we might as well pack it all in and shut up shop.  If he can't get us going nobody will.

This is the most excited I've been as a mariner since Buckley last came back.

Hopes and dreams are back on the agenda!

100%

I still can’t believe he’s joined us TBH, “I’d love it” if this Story ends well........ nothing to say it won’t IMHO

Totally agree Swansea - if this doesn’t work then we’ve had it - this has to be our time - and it all feels like a dream it really does - from such a mess to how it ended with Jolley to the bad run and lack of goals to this!!!! It’s unbelievable and as a youngish Mariner this is also the most excited I have felt about Town since the mid 90’s

ALL TOWN ARENT WE

Agreed, this is our chance now. If this doesn’t happen the way we all hope it does, then we will never get back to what we once were. Still pinching myself tbh, I was truly lost with the way our club had gone, genuine belief has returned. If this doesn’t work I don’t think anything will.......

I suspect this is going to go really well or it's going to be a complete disaster but I'm happy to take that gamble after the shiite we have had to put up with.

I'm really beginning to believe I've gone into a coma now because this just isn't the world I'm used to, the problem is if I have I would like to recover but that would end it all. This is to good to be  true.UTMM

No doubt, superb interview. First Town manager interview I remember was Lawrie Mac after we'd been on Match of the Day, away at Bournemouth, Lawrie was very good in front of the camera and went onto punditry, IH can give a massive lift Gy and Clee like Lawrie did and make people feel proud again. I just hope he's here for alot longer...

I said on another thread I'm so desperate for this to work out and not all be total bull$hit. It's going to be so interesting watching how the boys perform in the next few games. Will we see a step up in physical effort, style of play, movement off the ball, getting balls into the danger area and most of all finishing?
How many games should it take to see a difference or the suspicion it's all smoke and mirrors??
I'm so nervous and excited, I feel like a kid at Christmas. Please don't let me down Santa

I remember Lawrie Mac being interviewed on a plane journey from a European game, on BBC TV, where he was asked about his view of one of the goalkeepers in the match.
His reply ' I've got 3 goalkeepers at Grimsby better than him '.

In one of IH interviews he said he was happy with our solid defence and that he would be concentrating on improving our attacking going forward.

Yes. This happens when I try to log on away from home. This time, the email link for resetting the password isn't working. Nothing in Inbox, junk etc. Very frustrating. Says 'contact customer support' but no hint of how to do this. Tried to email but when I had to copy the numbers and letter code, to prove I am who I say I am it just gives another code. Same on lap top and phone. Back home now and using chrome as usual. Job for Monday now, soon time to head for Mansfield.

It mentions in the GET about his reaction after his first training session with the squad. One bit that did impress me was where he said " I'm going to give the lads a ten, because they did the little things that I wanted them to do probably six weeks down the line". So we have a squad that is able to listen and implement coaching instructions. I've felt all season that we have a fairly decent squad that just needed coaching properly - something that MJ didn't seem capable of.

Blatantly obvious that the team didn't know what jolly was talking about P.S. I don't think he knew himself

Anyone else feel that this is all a dream? Haha just 2 weeks ago it was the end of the world and now we have Ian Holloway in charge of us who has openly said we have people queuing up to join us, he’s invested his own money and brought the feel good factor back (just at the right time if you ask me) I feel that we will move forward now, maybe take some time but while we have IH in charge of us and getting the right players in and getting outside investment who knows how far we can go.

It’s made my new year and I feel so positive about this.

To misquote the great Alan Turing:

“It is the manager that everyone expects so much of, that does the great things no Town fan thought was possible less than a month ago”

Or should we defer this for a few months and assess then?

To be fair, he’s probably had 1 maybe 2 training sessions max with the squad. Definitely needs time!

Coming in at this time is a blessing and a curse. He has a transfer window and he has ideas on who he might want but he also has to see what he’s got first. The curse bit is more about the physical workload, he will have to burn a lot of miles in a short time and make some heavy decisions while still doing the PR and the day job.  He will no doubt be well paid for it but I don’t envy him.

He doesn't really need to bring in anyone, unless we can get someone who will definitely be an improvement from day one. We are not in any danger of going down and he can take a good long hard look at it over the second half of the season. Give what we have plenty of time to show what they are about.

Think we will see a left back though and probably one or two creative players/goalscorers.

We’re still in a horrible position in the table and have a meagre points tally. If we’d lost to Salford I think we’d still be worried about relegation as it would have been 16 without a win, so it’s fine margins. We’re only another bad run from the drop, so fingers crossed we build on the last 3 results, THEN we can relax a little.

I agree, that’s the day job along with the training etc. I was thinking about having to concentrate on that along with moving/commuting and all the others things he wants to do in a short space of time.

We lost a left back in Ring and are depending on a loan player in that position. I think we need a left back of our own.

I don't think we can wait- if we carry on like we have been doing the already dwindling attendances will diminish even further.

But I thought we were going to win every game 6-0 from now on using the same squad

What im saying is that we have a good enough squad now to pull clear of the bottom, it just needs a bit of confidence back and a bit of coaching. I've never felt in danger of the drop myself and think we are too well organised defensively to be in any danger of going down. Add to that there is only one spot this year, and we have time to take stock of what we have before diving into replacements. Not saying we won't bring anybody in, we most probably will, but i don't think we are in desperate times yet. There is still half a season to go.
