Vernam in. Playing left of a front 3, at a guess. Wright on the bench too.

Guessing 4-3-3

Would like to have seen Vernam up top with Hanson in a 4-4-2 but that’s not us at the mo

Come on Town really need a win today

That's not uncommon to have a fire engine there, they routinely check the main stand before every game.

He was covering his front post and it was high and looping over him at his oplosite post he was back peddling the whole time not a simple jump and catch at all.

Can see why swindon are top though tbh. Look solid and compact off the ball, first to the second balls too. And with a poacher like Doyle, don’t need to create much to score as he puts most chances away. Reminds me of us 15/16 with Podge

Town looked to be playing well.  Soft goal rattled them a bit. What the hell happened.   Hanson seems to be more on it. Just need a spot of luck Just final ball again. Swindon don't hang about. And they've score again.  Jesus, that's the difference.  Wasn't a great shot but when you on a winning streak you have a pop and it gets a  deflection.

flipping Hewitt goes brainlessly steaming up the pitch while they have possession leaving a massive space behind him for their attacker to be played in to and then run at our useless defenders and score. This entire team and club is abject. Completely abject.

Hughe deflection sends the ball the opposite way that Macca has gone. But again shocking defending as our defence continued the Frenchs favoutite military action of constant retreeting.

Whilst it is clear that Limbrick has tried to instill a more easy on the eye footballing style and we do seem to be playing it on the floor more than we certainly did under Jolley, but ultimately it is a results based industry and you do not get any points for passing it around but losing the game. and whilst we by all accounts played reasonably well against a good Northamption team, looked good against an effective Chetenam side and now playing against the team who are top of the league, it does still look set to be 1 point from a possible 9 with the possibility of 0 goals being scored in Limbricks 4 games in all competitions, not an impressive stat and whilst we should be grateful to Limbrick for making us play a better styleof play maybe it is time to bring somebody else in, and this somebody else may want to bring in their own man which would of course lead to Anthony's departure.

Shocking half of football.

Defence all over the place giving Swindon an easy game
Midfield slow, no skill, can't pass or tackle
Attack Hanson feeding off scraps, Green and Venrma non-existant

Pretty much covers that first half I think.
Posted by: HertsGTFC, December 7, 2019, 3:54pm; Reply: 36
We are a side completely devoid of any confidence. Our midfield look like passengers when they should be participants.

If Limbrick sends them out with the same shape and personal that will confirm he’s not up to the task.

We’ve just had a 10 day run which would have been the ideal time to get a new manager in but as ever we fail to take an opportunity
Posted by: mimma, December 7, 2019, 3:57pm; Reply: 37
I'm at the game. They are everything we are not. No movement no passing slow closing down constant high balls to Hanson. They get the ball they have time and space to play it. We get the ball there's three Swindon players closing us down with no Town player to pass to.
Utterly awful-no improvement on Slade or Jolley. Devoid of any ideas
Posted by: Maringer, December 7, 2019, 3:58pm; Reply: 38
We were playing OK until the second goal. Not great since then, but they've not exactly been peppering our goal.

McKeown at fault for the first. I know he stumbled, but it looked to me that he panicked as he thought the header was better than it actually was. Should have been an easy catch. Of course, the chance in the first place came because Gibson was ball watching at a throw, letting their man get the first cross in easily. He's had a stinker so far today albeit against a strong and powerful winger.

Hewitt well out of position for the second, but it was just one of those things as we had two defenders there to try and block the shot - might have hit both of them!

We look like a nervous team, lacking in confidence and not willing to try a forward pass when a backward one is available. They look a good team and have plenty of pace and athleticism which is making us look pedestrian in the middle.

We'll need to do a lot, lot better in the second half, or they will coast to the points. A goalkeeping error and deflected goal for us would be nice!

Frankly I don't think it matters who the manager is, the squad is simply shite and not good enough. Relegation battle coming up (again) we need some bright new thing to come in and somehow get this shower into a team capable of winning the odd game or at least scoring a goal. Oh hang on, we had one of those and he copulated off.

If it ends up as a 0-4 thrashing or worst today I wonder if Limbrick will give RH the old 'flipping' address.

Is it that the players are not good enough or just not giving it all, that's not to say they aren't trying but it's down to application, are they in the right frame of mind or as results are shite confidence is shot. A lot of this is down to the manager, five minutes before kickoff they should be made to think they are world beaters and able to beat anyone.
On another note when we have a corner I see they leave a player up hence 2 defenders have to stay back to look after him, what a stupid tactic, hasn't their manager read the Slade book of coaching, never get promotion with that attacking sort of thinking.

They were a better side and are top of the League for a reason.
Every single player was better than ours, they understood their system...they worked harder, smarter and played with more purpose.

To think Town were only 3 points from going top of the league, earlier this season, after a bright start - current form is disastrous. Didn't expect any improvement today - but hoped there would be. Could be that team disarray was because Robbie Stockdale in the main stand (reportedly) - and current managers know they are on their way out. We need some stability - but a ' Duncan Ferguson' is needed imminently to get some heart back in to the club.
Will be at Carlisle next week to assess the attitude of Town's players for this very important game.

I was there yesterday but have just seen the goals again.

Jesus - they were much worse than my first impressions. Macca was like  Bambi on ice there on a more or less perfect pitch.

The second goal - Hewitt doing a light jog to get goalside and then turning his back on the shot. What a shower.

We need a manager in fast - this lot need the proverbial rocket up their backsides.
