No Macca and 3 - 5 - 2 is back on the menu. Who is playing right wing back if thats the case?
Posted by: Abdul19, November 9, 2019, 2:20pm; Reply: 2
McKeown ill according to RH. 352 with Cook or Whitehouse at right wing back?!

I presumed it was 4-3-3 with Waterfall RB.

Macca out due to illness.

Surely Jolley would pick Hendrie if available then Hewitt as a next best option?

Lets hope Newport do not use their left wing much...

Is he taking the F A cup seriously?

Newport did lose at home to Salford last home game. That is their current performance level.   They were very poor it seems.  No surprise then that 2 poor teams, today with one team trying to be less-dire than the other!   We are currently winning that battle!

Despite being a season ticket holder and a lifetime fan I could not drag myself there today.

It is just so uninspiring, boring predictable with zero excitement.

My You Tube feed brings up games from the non league days, and I am often shocked at how much better it was to watch than this turgid stuff. We hardly get into the opposition half, have no shots on goal, never make the keeper work, and if we get a lead just try to  hang on.

The team selection was baffling - once you go down the route of "squad rotation" you never know where to stop; two weeks without a game and apparently zero tactics employed despite having all that time to work on some.

We will never get anywhere with this Board,  but at least they could get a manager with a sense of purpose who wants to win above everything else. I have enjoyed a grand total of three home games this season - Bradford, Port Vale and the Macc replay. The rest have been boring.

Change the manager now before we are dragged further into the mire in the league.

Really?! Two games in hand. Two draws and we're 14th (which our season's average should at least do). Win both we're tenth. Worst case scenario we're 18th.
Posted by: devs, November 9, 2019, 5:38pm; Reply: 56
Sad thing is I think we have some very good players at this level
Defence is OK - not much I'd change there with what we have
But creativity, passing, cleverness, guile... there's nothing
Square pegs in round holes
Too much tinkering - but enough said on that over the weeks
Formation not suiting several players
A brave manager would look at first 15 or so games and think when everyone fit I'm playing the front six who won at Exeter
It would force us to pass and not lump it
After 20/25 mins today Buckley was saying what he says every match and what almost every fan says week in and week out
No flow
No chances
No craft
Inability to string three passes together
Disjointed

We are neither an effective long ball team or a good passing team
Lump it to Hanson and see what happens
At the minute pretty much feck all!

Ogbu must be feeling very unlucky not to get in the team - but when he does he's played out of position
Sort of sums everything up

Before we played Chelsea,we were tearing teams apart, and scoring freely, hence me putting a bet on for promotion. Since then, we haven't got a clue. The Camp is in disarray, we just don't want to play for each other. In home games where we should be on the front foot and attacking, we sit back and defend, and whacking the ball from defence to Hanson, sometimes a lone figure. What the hell has happened to our game plan. These players were playing their socks off a couple months ago, now there is no belief. Maybe swapping and changing doesn't help, but they are the same players who know each other. Theres no wide play in force, the midfield are lethargic, no support for Hanson, it seems the belief in winning has gone. Maybe some of you are right, and time for a change in management, for someone more professional, and a bit nastier. Its not good for the eyes nowadays, and the expectancy of a win is diminishing before the game even starts. The Blundell Park fortress is missing a brick day by day, and I don't see any repairs to it. Come on Mr.Jolley, bring back the belief and tactics you played a few months ago, stop swapping ideas and keep to the winning one, one job, you only have one job, to win. Its going to be an uphill fight now, games are mounting up, every game and point counts. Show us supporters a reason to turn up and get value for our money. UTM.

Let’s not beat about the bush, that was absolutely dire. One paced, flat footed, lack of any forward movement and so much hoofing my neck hurts.

Plan A failed after about six matches. Quite why Jolley cannot see that booting it to Hanson when he is isolated with no one around him isn’t working is anyone’s guess.  We are so poor tactically the goal conceded was inevitable. We give teams far too much respect and time and we are so flat in formation teams can get into pockets and dictate games. Jordan Cook was essentially a right wing back today he was so deep. Where were the forward runners? Did anyone get beyond Hanson once today? Why did we defend so seep aedond half? Why on earth was he bringing Davis on when we needed to get up the pitch to relieve pressure?!

There’s very little difference between today and the last few weeks of the Russell Slade era. I desperately wanted Jolley to be a success but he’s not learning from any of his mistakes and I don’t have any confidence that he’s learning anything about his team given the same turgid performances.

I liked jolley, but he has to turn this around now and sharpish. The crowd was well below my expectations - the fayre is so dull it's putting lots of people off. Jolley has a few weeks to change course or else I feel fentys hand may be forced anyway, and better to do it before the transfer window if getting rid.

He has to start learning lessons, pick a style and formation- I doubt he will...

I think Cardwell is amongst the worst forward players I have seen in a Town shirt and I have been going for 60 years.

What the hell Jolley was thinking in extending his contract God only knows. Even after all this time the best he can get is a few minutes at the end of the occasional match as a last throw of the dice.

Cardwell joins a list of non striking strikers that goes back to the likes of Steve Saunders and Bungle Jeffrey and includes many other notables in between.

Its flipping outrageous. If i was ring id be telling Jolley to stuff it, Wright injured so we send a winger out on loan. And bring on a man with 1 league goal in 3 years. Bring on clifton whos been dire this season, gone backwards. Fed up of it all, makes no sense to me or any others. We’re rubbish absolute rubbish.

Stuff I don’t get ......Pollock does well at CB earlier in the year and gets dropped but today we need a RB and he gets thrown in ahead of Davis who in the past has proven he’s competent in that role.

We then effectively play Cooke in the right wing position when he’s an attacking mid or one of a front two.

Charlie is sent out on loan and cup tied?? But Cardwell who needs game time is left at home for the odd injury time cameo.

I’m not sure Ring is near good enough but unless he gets some involvement we‘lol never know.

Robson despite scoring a couple of good goals since he’s been here unlike Embleton seems to hide from the ball rather than being hungry for it, surely H Clifton despite a mixed season to date is worth investing in?

So many things feel @rse about face at the moment it’s getting worrying
