Looks like he likes taking on lost causes.

Did fantastic to keep Macc up last season when all seemed lost and has now taken on another massive challenge, to keep Southend up.

They'd be well adrift at the bottom of League 1 after last nights 7-1 home thumping by Donny if it wasn't for Bolton's problems.

Fair play to him for taking on that job. If he succeeds it would surpass what he did at Macc for me.

I guess pressure is off a bit as most will not blame him should he not turn it around.

Less of a risk for him than the Macclesfield job and, of course, it will be an easy commute as he'll no doubt be living in the south east somewhere.

He surprised me at Macclesfield. Let's see if he can do a good job again at Sarfend.

Maybe if he has half a good season there he could get the Spurs job next ;-)
(as per Lampard to Chelsea)

or maybe it'll be more Scholes-like....

Well the man everyone decried as a no-hoper bighead who would not make a manager while he had a hole in his bottom has gone up a division (not for long though I expect, my mate is a ST holder at Southend and he says they are a hopeless case)

Best of luck to him. Hope he cracks on.

I thought Henrik Larsson was taking over, or was that board room only?

little to lose and all to gain really.

Fair play to him, said he wanted a chance and he has now taken on two jobs that some probably have avoided even going for.

It's probably not a bad time to be taking over. He has until Christmas to assess his squad and get some stability . Then a transfer window to boost/modify his squad. I think, judging by his time at Macc, he will keep Southend safe.

There another club who has just been given the go ahead for a new ground.

Whatever happened to that dopey lass who used to do the adverts? They've not been half as entertaining since she left.
